ASK MAXWELL KENNER IF HE BELIEVED THAT HE OR JACK WOULD EVER BE CAUGHT, HE WOULD ANSWER NO. It wasn't that he thought he was that much better than anyone. But, that Jack was able to track through the compute of anyone was in search of either of them.
And both him and Jack were aware when they were being followed.
Max awake with a daze. His head momentarily in pain, as he tilted it to the side to stop the odd whirring sound. He slowly opened his eyes, vision blurry. Across from his, he saw the slightly blurry figure of his best friend.
"Jack!" Max yelled, as he tried to launch forward, but found that he was unable to.
"Max?" Jack's voice came confused beside he looked towards him, also trying to move forward.
Both looked down, seeing that they had been forced into a chair, odd green glowing cuffs keeping the in the chairs.
"We know what you did," a woman's voice comes. It caused for tent men to look away from each other, looking towards the sound of the voice. And making confused hum sound. "We know what you did." The women repeated.
Jack looked down, frowning at the cuffs.
"Okay, before I admit to anything, what exactly are you saying we did?" Max inquired of, a smile on his face.
Jack did a double take at the question. Typically it was him who would be on the receiving end of the disappointment. And Jack knew that was Max's goal. To get the attention on him. So that if these guys planned to kill them, or torture them, whatever it was, would be done to Max.
"First of all, sorry. Second of all, could you be more specific?" Jack asked. "Honestly, you could be talking about twelve different things right now."
"Who are you working for?" The woman asked.
"Lady, I don't know what you're talking about. We work for whoever pays us."
"You have an out forty seconds to become helpful before you have a terrible accident, so I'm going to ask you one more time; who hired you to find him?"
"Find who?" The two men asked.
"You know who."
"We really don't! He wasn't hired to find a person anytime recently," Max says.
Jack chuckled. "I promise you, I don't. If I did, I would tell you. I'm not a scrupulous person. You can ask anymore."
"It's true," Max speaks up.
"Of course you would agree with him, defend him," the woman says, then walks around the room. "The Intercontinental Seismic Surveillance System. Sound familiar?"
Jack momentarily looked around. "Yeah. I did that. It was a weird job. Somebody was trying to find someone who was running tests on some weapons system in the Arctic, and I-J found the location, and I walked."
Max shifted in his binds, unable to get out of the metal, green glowing cuffs.
"For what?" The woman asked Jack.
"We don't know." Max interrupted. "The communication is encrypted and untraceable. For this exact reason." He was unable to gesture, his fingers swirling around to make a small gesture to the people that surrounded him.
"So if someone like you shows up, I don't have any answers," Jack repeated, as the soldiers had turned their attention to Max. "Look, I don't ask questions. I just find people that no one else can find. It's what I do."
The woman looked at him, in an unsure manner. Then a look of realization. "You really don't know what you did."
Jack laughs. "I guess not. I mean, I can tell you're very upset about it, though."
For a quick second, it was silent. No one spoke. Max was trying to think of something. Her head turned snapped back to Jack. "Box him up."
"Box me up?" Jack asked. "Wait. Wait." The soldiers removed thier weapons. "What do you mean? Hey."
"Hey! What the fuck?" Max yelled as he trying to move forward. The chair moved forward, scratching the floorboards.
"Him too." The woman demanded. As she snapped her head to gesture to Max.
