"So what did you want to talk to me about?"

Truth to be told, Namjoon didn't know what to do. As Jimin looked up at him, wondering, Namjoon cleared his throat awkwardly, looking away any chance that he could. Finding it weird, Jimin placed his hands on Namjoon's arms, to which the older flinched. Noticing this, Jimin's eyebrows furrowed, a concerned expression beginning to illuminate his face.

"You okay?"

"I'm fine," Namjoon assured, though his posture said otherwise. "But as I said, we do need to talk."

Jimin chuckled softly. "From the sounds of it, it doesn't sound too good."

Before Namjoon could say anything else, his phone pinged. He flashed another small smile at Jimin before looking at the message, sighing in relief at the text.

"You know for someone who wanted to talk to me, you're doing a shit job at it," Jimin commented. "Who are you texting?"

"Oh, no one," Namjoon quickly put his phone away. Jimin's eyebrow raised, curiosity igniting in his eyes, but he said nothing, deciding to take Namjoon's word for it. "So about last night..."

Jimin nodded, expression turning serious. "You're not hurting, are you?"

"Minor bruising but that's about it," Namjoon said, only further fueling Jimin's concern.

"If I'd known you were so clumsy I never would have suggested going roller skating," Jimin stuffed his hands in his pockets. "I just assumed that because you biked all the time you would have good balance."

Namjoon let out a laugh. "I don't think that's how it works, but, I still had fun with you Jimin."

Too much fun, Namjoon had to admit, though not to Jimin. He'd gone skating before, it was one of Jungkook's favorite to-go places, but that didn't mean he ever really enjoyed it. Maybe because he knew that Jimin had been trying to get with him from the moment they had first met, or the fact that unconsciously he began to form some sort of attachment to Jimin (that Namjoon couldn't actually pinpoint). Whatever it was, Namjoon found himself enjoying their time together a little bit too much.

It's not like it wasn't a good sign, for Jimin. It was.

Namjoon knew that Jimin had feelings for him. Well, saying Jimin had 'feelings' was a bit too extreme. Lusting was probably a better term for it. In Namjoon's eyes, that's what Jimin was thirsting after. From the beginning, Jimin had singled Namjoon out, making remarks about him, and most of them had been physical. Namjoon had opted to ignore and pretend he didn't understand what Jimin was referring to— though he knew that he should have done more to try to stop it.

Against Namjoon's better judgment, he let Jimin continue to make those sly remarks without setting proper boundaries for himself because he'd severely underestimated Jimin's capabilities— and well, who Jimin was. It was one thing for Jimin to make those commentaries through text— it's not like Namjoon had to physically see him then, but now that he'd spend a lot of time with Jimin (at first unwillingly, but after some time he began seeking out Jimin's companionship), he'd began to see Jimin in a different light.

It wasn't something that Namjoon had expected, especially because he was pretty sure that he wasn't someone that was interested in dating someone that was, well, a male. Nothing wrong with it, but Namjoon had tried dating a boy back in Gwangju, who he thought he had feelings for, only to realize that he couldn't give what he was being given to him in return.

Yet, here he was, liking Jimin's company a bit too much to be pure friendship.

He didn't even know if Jimin liked him at all. How could he? You could always hype your friends up, but meaning in a more romantic aspect was a completely different thing. Yeah, they had cuddled, but friends did that. Namjon was never one to deny someone cuddles, and it was something that he did with both Hoseok and Jungkook, so it's not like Namjoon could say something had sparked between them.

"You definitely have a lot on your mind, Joon."

Jimin's voice seemed softer, gentler than Namjoon had ever heard it before. As Namjoon turned to look at Jimin, he could swear that his heart almost skipped a beat at Jimin's slightly widened, concerned eyes. He felt Jimin take his hands, the boy's concern only getting stronger.

"You can talk to me about it," Jimin said, guiding Namjoon to the nearest bench. "If you need anything, just ask me."

"I have a question I need to ask you."

Jimin froze at the sound of Namjoon's serious tone. He forced a smile on his lips, hoping that nothing would betray the slight bit of panic that had rippled through him at the statement. Letting ho of Namjoon's hands, Jimin interlaced his fingers together, nodding once.

"Ask away."

Now it was Jimin's turn to become nervous.

There were over a billion questions that Namjoon could ask him, most of which Jimin could easily answer. But, if it was anything about what he thought would be the question, then Jimin was screwed. What if Namjoon had finally grown tired of all the types of advances Jimin had tried? Jimin knew that Namjoon identified as straight, but Jimin had still decided to 'pursue' him.

It wasn't really pursuing if Jimin thought about it hard enough. Yeah, Jimin flirted with Namjoon every chance that he could, but it wasn't like Namjoon ever really paid attention to that. Jimin had made sure to flirt but not to the point where Namjoon would be in an uncomfortable position— but maybe Jimin hadn't tried hard enough. Maybe Namjoon was finally going to lay it out to him, that he would never be interested in Jimin, and that they shouldn't act the way that they had been currently doing.

"Do you actually have feelings for me?" Namjoon asked, causing Jimin's heart to drop. "Like, genuinely."

Namjoon was attractive— that's what Jimin had first noticed of him. But, after the physical attraction, Jimin got to know Namjoon more, and he'd be lying if he said he hadn't gotten attached to Namjoon. Did Jimin know that Namjoon would eventually hurt his feelings? Of course. Eventually, it was going to happen. That didn't mean that he thought it was going to happen now.

So to put it blankly, Jimin had fallen for Namjoon.

He hadn't meant to fall for Namjoon, but, at the end of the day, there was no way that Jimin could have ever been able to resist Namjoon's charms, regardless of whether or not Namjoon had been doing anything on purpose.

"Why do you ask?" Jimin stammered. Namjoon shook his head, lips pressing together.

"You're avoiding the question," Namjoon pointed out. "But, if it helps, I would like to know. I can't tell."

"You can't...tell?"

"No," Namjoon sighed. "I can't. I can't tell if you flirt with me, hang out with me, anything without knowing if you're just doing to mess around or if you actually want to have something serious with me."

"Why would it matter to you, though, Namjoon?"

"Because I think I might have feelings for you and the fact that I can't tell if you actually like me or not is fucking with me more than I'd like to admit!"

Jimin ceased to function.

His mind blanked, mouth hanging open as he slowly blinked, trying to process whatever Namjoon had just said. From the looks of it, it seemed like Namjoon hadn't expected himself to say anything either and now that he had, he was at a loss for words.

"I-I thought you were.." Jimin fumbled with his words. "Straight."

Namjoon smiled ruefully. "Something about you, Jimin."

Jimin had now heard the last words he'd ever thought he would hear coming from Namjoon. It was now a good time to pass away.

"At first I could ignore the flirtations you would make, but after a while, I started wanting to hear them," Namjoon admitted, now that he had accidentally revealed himself. "I really enjoy my time with you, Jimin, and I'm ninety five percent sure it isn't because of friendship. The question now, the one I had asked you first, is, do you like me back?"

Jimin didn't need to be asked again for his answer.

if i were to categorize namjoon, it would probably lean more bi and possibly in the demiromantic and demisexual spectrum (not using them interchangeably i promise) . his character fell for men in terms of personality but when it came to the whole PDA/romantic aspect, it wasn't something he felt like he could give. the feelings would be kinda temporary. i feel like it takes namjoon a while to form a deep emotional connection with someone— which is what happened with jimin.

i like leaving what namjoon identifies with more of a mystery. he's more of the 'unlabeled' character because many of us (including myself) identify with not labeling themselves. so yes, if asked, namjoon could label himself, but other than that, he just exists (like me!).

the 30th will be the last update to mister runaway ever (yes, i mean the epilogue). there's two more parts and they'll both be published at the same time. it is finally time besties, we gotta let mister runaway go.

so i been working on editing/rewriting amoris stellarum, and on the side of that, i have also been developing another book. now i'm stuck with what i want to publish first (lowkey don't want to publish both at the same time, cuz that's going to make more work for me considering i got two other works ongoing), so i wanted to ask for your input.
