Gaius raised his eyebrows until they mingled with his hairline as Morgana stormed in, the door banging against the wall and bouncing back into a half-open position. Gwen scurried in after the Lady, giving Gaius an apologetic smile for the interruption and carefully shutting the door. Her mistress, however, had no time for such pleasantries. With a simple nod to the physician, she demanded "Where's Merlin?"

Gaius frowned. "I thought he was with you."

"Well clearly he isn't or I wouldn't be here, would I?" Morgana's stress had turned to anger and she was venting her rage on the closest person to her: Gaius.

His face paled. "He did not return?"

"From where?" The king's ward narrowed her eyes.

The physician buried his face in his hands. "He went to the dungeons to speak to Arthur of his sentence. Are you sure he did not return?"

"Gaius. I think if he was here, I'd have noticed by now and not come to see you." Morgana pointed out. "Perhaps he was caught by the guards, he's probably been imprisoned, there's nothing we can do now but prove Arthur's innocence ourselves. Are you going to help or not?"

The old man sighed, concern for his own ward mingling with determination as he met the eyes of the king's ward. "Of course my Lady. I will help in any way I can."

Morgana merely nodded, although Gwen put in a polite "Thank you Gaius."

The physician nodded in acknowledgement and continued. "As it happens, Morgana, I may have a plan that will allow you to discover the sorcerer's true identity."

"Oh, and what's that?"

"The sorcerer must have been impersonating Arthur, and for that he must need a disguise. What could make Dextrin think it was indeed the prince he saw?"

"Blonde hair." Gwen put in.

"Perhaps, although it is entirely possible that the sorcerer was naturally blonde, he may not need to disguise his hair."

"Eye colour?" Morgana suggested.

"Maybe," Gaius responded." Although Dextrin described they sorcerer from behind, and his eyes burning gold. It is unlikely that the sorcerer would disguise his true eye colour."

"Clothes!" Gwen raised her voice in excitement. "Arthur would never wear a peasant's clothes. The sorcerer would have to wear clothes similar to Arthur's or the illusion would be ruined!"

"Precisely my girl!" Gaius slapped his hand down on the table triumphantly. "If you can find even a few of these clothes it will show the king that Arthur was, indeed, impersonated by another. He will be forced to release both Arthur and Merlin."

Morgana nodded, thinking. "But Gaius..."

He turned.

"How do we know where this sorcerer's house is?"

The physician sighed. "I'm afraid that may be slightly more difficult..."
