The second day of the festival Changbin didn't have to run around or do anything like that. The working teams were arranged in a way that everybody would have to work one day, perform another day and have a day free to enjoy the festival. Which actually was an amazing arrangement and something to praise the administration for. So, Changbin and the rest of his friends would perform that day.
Chan, Jisung and Changbin would perform together. They had composed and written three songs especially for the occasion. And they were definitely excited about showing them to the world. They had put such a big amount of effort and time in those songs, they meant a lot to the three of them. They had also enjoyed working together more than they'd expected and were planning on doing it again any time soon.
Even when Changbin was kind of free that day, he really wasn't. He had to rehearsal for the performance several times and he also wanted to watch his friend's performances too. So he went over to the campus early, walking with Felix who had to work in the festival that day.
"If your painting is already in the exhibition and the decoration for the festival was done days ago, what exactly are you gonna do today?" Changbin asked curiously to his boyfriend, who was walking next to him, locking arms.
"Host, basically," Felix answered him. "Help with the food and mini game stalls, do whatever they call me for. You know, be the boy of the scraps," he explained.
"Sounds tiring," Changbin commented.
"Yup. But is probably less tiring than what you did yesterday," he said and kissed Changbin.
His cold lips, due to the freezing weather, touched Changbin's cheek and made him quiver. But he would never reject a kiss that came from Felix so he giggled. They arrived at the university a few minutes after and since they had different schedules, the two of them took different paths from there on. Changbin went to a small classroom where he found Jisung practicing his verse of one of the songs.
"Hey, hyung!" Jisung greeted him with a smile as soon as Changbin opened the door.
"Have you been waiting for a long time?" Changbin asked him and dropped his backpack in a chair near by, taking off his jacket.
Jisung took off his headphones, "Not really, only a few minutes."
"Good then," Changbin walked towards him and looked at the screen of the computer where Jisung was playing the song, "Oh, I love that part of the track."
"I know, I do too," Jisung agreed, "Chan hyung really outdid himself this time."
"Nah," a third voice said. Jisung and Changbin both looked at the door and there was Chan holding it open, his grey and brown hair curly and a big black coat on him, alongside a smile. "I just didn't sleep for two days," and he entered.
"Don't joke about that, you idiot!" Jisung scolded and hit him once he was standing next to them.
"Sorry, sorry," Chan giggled. "I'm not lying, tho. And you two helped me with it so this is your creation too," he smiled at the too.
Changbin and Jisung didn't complain and the three of them started to practice right away, knowing the presentation needed to be perfect.
-
And it was perfect.
And the fact that Felix had almost thrown him to the floor after the presentation finished was the proof of it.
"Jesus Christ!" Felix screamed, "That was fire, guys! You— I don't even have words to express it!" The guy was almost bouncing while hugging Changbin.
"What was the name of the first song? Start Line?" Woojin asked and Chan, who was hugging him from behind, hummed in response. "I loved it," and Chan giggled and kissed Woojin's cheek.
Jeongin ew-ed and everybody laughed.
"No, but seriously, guys, you need to do this again. That was so awesome, like woah," Hyunjin said.
"I liked it," Changbin said.
"A lot," added Chan.
"You bet we did," finished Jisung.
"Matryoshka was fire," Seungmin said and everybody nodded. "I never thought I would compliment Changbin hyung, but when he says Matryoshka with his raspy voice... it is incredible."
"Oh, my god. Please, tell me one of you recorded that because we ain't gonna hear him say something like that ever again," Jisung dramatically commented.
"Worship me, peasants," Jeongin said, "I recorded it."
And as soon as he said this Seungmin tried to take his phone, but the younger one was smart and hid himself behind Hyunjin.
"If you want him, you will have to go over me first," Hyunjin said with a playful smile on his face.
Jeongin rounded Hyunjin's waist with his arms and Hyunjin grabbed his hands. The younger one stuck out his tongue towards Seungmin with a devilish grin on his face and Seungmin snorted.
"That's so unfair," and everybody bursted in laughter.
"Personally, my favorite one was Runner's High," Minho said and Jisung nodded.
They kept on with the conversation for a few more minutes. Although it was more like a never ending session of compliments towards the three composers of the group. And a bunch of weird, cheesy and probably childish moments between them. However, everybody had their own things to do and so they separated again.
Two hours later was Seungmin's and Jeongin's performance. And right after them was Woojin's. As far as Changbin knew, Seungmin and Jeongin had teamed up with two other guys called Donghyuck and Sanha. And Woojin with a guy from his year called Jaehyun.
Changbin had seen Jaehyun a few times since he was kind of famous around the campus. Although he'd never really talked to him before, since there wasn't really anything to talk about with him. He'd also interacted with both Donghyuck and Sanha since they were sophomores just like himself. He even had the pleasure of hearing them sing a few times and they were really good. So Changbin was looking forward to his friends' performances.
They were presenting at 5pm, which meant they were basically the last acts of the day and that meant a lot. So Changbin, Jisung and Chan were trying to find a place in between the crowd that was starting to gather in front of the open air stage were both performances would be held.
"There's a lot of people here," Jisung said, trying to evade a person that was walking past him.
"Understandable," Changbin answered him while he himself tried to make his way through people's bodies. "Woojin and Jaehyun are well known in the campus and even outside."
In that moment Jisung noticed a small empty space where they could stand and watch the performances quietly and pointed it out. They hurried towards it, not wanting that somebody else could get there before them.
"Yeah, sometimes that isn't as nice as it sounds like," Chan continued the conversation once they were at the spot. "I'm glad he's getting noticed, but sometimes they just take advantage of him or his talent," he frowned.
Jisung and Chan nodded, agreeing with him and then a pair of arms rounded Changbin from behind. Changbin didn't have to ask who it was, he knew already. Felix didn't say anything either, he simply rested his head on Changbin shoulder. His cold cheeks touching Changbin's and making him smile. Seconds after, Minho and Hyunjin appeared too.
"Are you tired?" Chan asked laughing when Hyunjin threw himself over him.
"I'm exhausted," Hyunjin cried out.
"Don't worry, I'm sure your boyfriends performance will cheer you up," Jisung attacked.
Hyunjin blushed and looked away. Not denying Jisung's statement and everybody almost choked at this.
"Wait, so it is official now?" Felix asked him, disconcerted too.
Hyunjin stuttered for a few seconds, trying to find a correct answer to the question, but failing.
"I guess..." But Hyunjin couldn't finish as the lights of the stage were turned on and the guys walked out. Hyunjin was already dead.
