Final
Three days after waking up, December 24th, Changbin had been discharged. The bullet had hit him in the left side of his abdomen, thankfully not getting to any organs or important blood vessels. However, the bullet had fragmented itself inside of Changbin's body. This was the reason why he had to get surgery for hours when they arrived at the hospital. The fragments were too small and they were several, so the surgeons had to be very careful with the operation to make sure that nothing had gone wrong.
In a normal situation, with the type of wound that Changbin got, he would've been free to leave the hospital when he woke up and got checked, confirming that he was healing correctly. But this wasn't his case. Since the surgery has taken so long and so much care to be done, the doctor wanted to make sure that everything was completely in place and working properly before discharging Changbin. So he had to stay for three more days in there.
Now, he was arriving with Woojin and Felix at the apartment of the younger one.
"Can you really walk?" Felix asked him after opening the door for him.
"Yes, I can," Changbin answered softly, knowing that his boyfriend was simply worried about his wellbeing.
Felix bit his lip and looked at him with preoccupation expressed on his features, but deciding to trust Changbin. He opened the door wide and helped Changbin get out of the car. He didn't want Changbin to make any kind of effort that could slow down his recuperation. He passed one of his arms for under Changbin's shoulder, far away from the place where bullet had hit and they both walked towards the door of the apartment. Felix thanked the fact that their apartment was in the first floor.
"Honey!" Felix's mom came out before they got to the door and held it open for both of them.
Changbin'd had the pleasure of meeting her the day he woke up. She had been worried for him all the time just as all his friends were and even brought him a delicious noddle soup that Changbin ate delightfully.
"Good afternoon, Mrs. Lee," he greeted and smiled. She didn't hold herself back and held Changbin's face, kissing his cheek and ruffling his hair.
"Hi, my boy," she smiled at him, "I'm glad you're home now. Are you hungry?"
Changbin nodded and she left for the kitchen, from where something smelled really good and Changbin's stomach grunted, asking for food.
After they had met and all the formalities where left behind, Changbin and Felix's mom had a few minutes to talk alone. She made sure of letting Changbin know how grateful she was that Felix had found him, because not everybody would take a bullet for somebody else, but Changbin hadn't doubt a second on doing so. Her son was probably alive now because of him, and she would be forever thankful towards him.
After conversing with her that day, Changbin had felt really warm inside. He never doubted that saving Felix had been the right choice. But Mrs. Lee made him feel even surer about it.
"What are you cooking, mom?" Felix asked her, helping Changbin to sit on one of the couches.
"Dinner," she answered and Feliz snorted.
"Mom!" Mrs. Lee laughed.
"It's Christmas Eve, Felix! I'm preparing a nice dinner, it's not that hard to guess," she said, looking back at him and rolling her eyes.
"It's Christmas Eve?" Felix asked confused and looked at Changbin, who gave him the same confused look back.
"I had completely forgotten about that," Changbin said.
Felix shrugged and went to sit next to Changbin, letting the older one rest his head on his shoulder and stroking his hair. Changbin took in a deep breath, letting Felix's aroma besot him and making him feel peaceful inside.
Changbin had been thinking about his powers and how he wasn't able to see anything anymore. For the three last days, he'd woken up and try to see if he could see anything new, but nothing. And it was the same everyday. Since he had a lot of time to be alone in the room, he'd tried to analyze why that was happening now. But the only explanation he could give it, was that he'd broken the rules and hence he'd lost the ability to see the future.
Changbin also reflected a lot about why he had forgotten about his abilities and even the things he knew during November and December, but he wasn't really sure. He tried to track back when those holes in his power started to appear and he realized that they had started after he met Felix. Maybe Felix's presence in his life had had some kind of impact in the way he saw things, and so his power started to change too. Or maybe, the way he'd started to not really care about what he could see when he was with Felix. Just a result of not using his abilities, he'd started to lose them. Like an athlete that doesn't train for years, his skills will eventually decrease.
But at the end, none of this was more than a hypothesis. They were simple speculations that Changbin had taken the time to make. But as the only person he knew about that could (in past tense) see the future, he didn't have anybody to ask about it. Sadly, his parents had died a few years ago already, so he couldn't ask them about it either.
If that same incident would've happen months before, Changbin would probably be freaking out about not being able to see the future anymore. But now, having Felix and all his friends with him, he didn't. Honestly, he didn't even feel scared about not knowing what was to come anymore.
"What are you thinking about?" Felix asked him softly.
Changbin looked at him and answered sincerely, "About you."
Felix blushed a little and raised and eyebrow, "What about me?"
"Just the impact you've had in my life."
"Are we taking that literally or..?" Felix left the question hanging.
"No, Lix," Changbin chuckled. "I'm not talking about physical impact. I mean what you've done to me as a person," Felix seemed confused so Changbin went on explaining to him. "Before you came to me, my life was boring and absurd. Sure, I had music and Woojin, but nothing outside of that was really important for me. But then you came and showed me your friends, invited me to your circle and I just— I started to actually enjoy being here," Changbin took one of Felix's hands and intertwined their fingers. "You mean my entire universe to me. That's why I want you to never think of this wound as your fault because it isn't. You are safe and I'm alive and healing, that's all that matters. I could never forgive myself if I let you get hurt instead."
Felix looked into Changbin's eyes for what seemed like a minute, his eyes crystallized by the accumulated tears and squeezing Changbin's hand.
"I could never lose you, I swear," he blinked and a tear rolled down his cheek. "Not knowing that I lost you because you were trying to save me. If you live for me, remember that I can't live without you either, so please, be careful you too."
Changbin raised his free hand hand wiped the tear with his thumb, he smiled.
"Don't worry, they say weed never dies. I'll be around here for a long time."
Felix couldn't help it but laugh a little and with his laughter, a few other tears ran down. Changbin wiped them off as soon as they came out, not wanting Felix to cry for him anymore. He knew that he had cried a lot when Changbin was in surgery and when he was unconscious. But now that he was there, he didn't want him to cry or be sad. His goal was to always make his little sun even brighter than it was already.
Changbin opened his arms and Felix leaned over, hugging him carefully but with love.
"I love you, Freckles. Don't cry, please."
"I love you too, Binnie."
And they would be together, and it didn't matter if fate didn't want it like that. Changbin had made his decision about Felix and he would never give up on him. Not unless Felix himself asked him to. And he doubted Felix would ever ask him that.
"The only mistake that I could never regret in my life, is being late for work that day," Changbin said, talking about the day they'd met.
"Yeah, I don't regret spilling my milkshake all over you," Felix added and both of them started to laugh. But the laugh made Changbin's wound hurt and he hissed. Which caused Felix to stop hugging him and start asking a million questions about whether he was okay or not and apologize in case he'd been too rude while hugging him. Changbin didn't know how to make the boy stop, so he pulled Felix face towards his and kissed him. Felix fell silent in an instant.
