Ch 58: New Players

Third Person's POV
"Fucking paranoia!" Gladion cursed and soon started running, Diana dashing forwards as well.
"We need to get out here, and quick." She said.
"Thank you for pointing out the obvious." He said with annoyance.
"ATRÁPENLOS!" They heard a guard's voice order his unit. Diana swiftly turned and threw daggers their way. It might not hit them, but it would at least somewhat distract them for hinder them. They ran up to the main platform, Gladion attempting to hack the system, but it was no use. Out of pure frustration he hit the panel, growling lowly.
"Fuck! I should have paid attention to her fucking lessons. Stupid Paranoia!"
"Stop making a fuss, there has to be stairs somewhere here." Diana said, getting behind the glass to protect herself from the bullets. Thankfully for her, the glass was reinforced. She allowed herself to let out a sigh of relief. Luck was on her side...somewhat.
"We will use the emergency stairs." He said, opposite from her and using the glass to protect himself from the incoming bullets. He got ready a new arrow and shot it, taking down a guard. He quickly retreated back to avoid being shot, getting a hold of a new arrow. He was never one to light all this, but now that he was in it, experiencing it, he couldn't help but slightly like it, no...it was something else. Call him crazy but, he felt like he had done this before...a long, long time ago.
"Thankfully you have good aim." She said.
"It's not the best." There used to be someone far better than him. Used to be. He breathed in, repeating the same action before telling her his next words.
"We need to make an opening and run towards that hallway." He pointed down a hallway that had the sign of the emergency stairs. 'How observant is this guy?' "I was planning on shooting three arrows and clogging their guns for a short period of time, but my limit is shooting two at the same time. Not to mention that such a small target is far harder for me to aim and hit, especially when moving." He told her.
"Why don't you just kill them? That would rid us of the pro-"
"I am not turning into an assassin, thank you very much. I rather keep my death count at two." He said with a pointed look. 'This is no time for stupid morals.' She thought with a growl.
"It's either we die or they die, it's not such a hard thing to choose, Edgelord." She snapped at him. He gave her a cold hard glare, causing her to freeze on the spot.
She had unintentionally hit a nerve.
"They are just doing their job, nothing more, nothing less. They are good men, I am not doing such a thing. I will never, ever, be like my mother, who with cold blood, killed someone innocent of all fault, who hurt her own blood for the sake of her own ambition. I will never see myself above others, not like her. I will never trample over anyone for my own benefit. I will never, ever, value my life over that of others. Never, will I do such a thing. Never, Diana, period!" He snapped at her, eyes flashing with pure anger. She shook but she wasn't sure of what. She was scared, she was shocked, she was sorry, she was confused, she was...all these things at the same time and she couldn't pin point which was which by that point.
'Is this his way to end his own life?' Yes, he was suicidal, but that was not it. That was not the reason why he said that. Somehow, she felt, she knew he had gone through something similar to what they were living at this very moment. Where someone had to decide to save their own life or that of others. Where someone had to ask: Is my own life above those around me? It wasn't him who needed to do that decision however, it was someone else, someone who decided it was best to die in order for him and Lillie to live. That someone made the choice for him, the choice to value his own life over theirs, and here she was, doing the same thing but not choosing the noble side like the one before her.
She was being selfish, and that is what angered him, what caused him to practically hate her at that very moment.

It dawned on her that...she had just made a mistake.

Everything suddenly became silent. The gunshots no longer reaching their ears as they looked at one another. One with pure rage and the other with an unreadable emotion. Lots of thoughts came through her mind, before finally setting on a choice.
The sound, which had been silenced, was slowly being raised in volume, until it finally was at its max, time now losing the illusion of it being frozen.
She reached for a few daggers and threw them towards the guards, the bullets hitting the metal and making a resonating sound. The small distraction, helped her to run forwards and push two guards against another two behind them, her quickly pinning some daggers into their legs. She took a gun and shot the few guards that were still in a slight daze, on their legs. Finished with that, she threw the gun away and turned to Gladion, who was blinking in confusion.
"Stop standing there like an idiot." She said harshly, yet it was still weak. Why she decided to not kill them, was beyond her. She was an assassin...that was a fact she couldn't shake off even if she wanted to. Not like she would ever want to.

Gladion might have only two in his consciousness, but she has far too many to every have peace.

Gladion blinked a few more times, trying to process what he had witnessed. The guards were breathing...she let them live...why? He didn't give himself the luxury to think over the matter any further, following after her. It would be a question he will never get the answer to, probably, he wasn't sure.
As they ran up the stairs, them being built in an ascending spiral, he kept shooting arrows to the guards that were following them, causing them to roll down the stairs and knock over others that were right behind like dominos. 'That should delay them enough.'
Arriving at the first floor, they came across the door that would lead them outside the stairwell, but there was a small problem. The lockdown had locked the door.
"Wonderful." Diana said, kicking the door with gritted teeth. She wanted to pin a dagger on the master of the house so badly at that moment. With a frustrated growl, she turned around to see Gladion taking care of the guards two flights down. "It's locked." She informed him. He gave her a small glance before shooting the arrow he had on the bow already. After doing that, he quickly gave her the reins and switched places with her, taking an arrow to jab out the stylized controls in front of the panel to show the wires behind it. He moved some wires until he found the red wire and cut it.
"It's open." She threw three more daggers, not caring whether or not they hit their target, she only wanted to hinder them further. She quickly ran over and pushed the door open with him, running out and closing the door behind them, him quickly cutting a different wire to lock the doors shut. The second he did, the guards banged on the door, yelling at them profanities.
"Sucks to be you." He said with a small smirk before he turned to Diana, her looking around to figure out the route from where they came from.
"I swear, everything looks the same in these mansions." She commented with annoyance. Surely they didn't pass this specific hallway, she didn't remember going pass a black and white painting. They had to figure out a hallway they did recognize and find they way out from there, but how the find that specific hallway? Things were dark when they entered, but things seemed more darker upon having all the windows closed shut, the small light they provided sealed out like it was poison. They were only able to see now because of the red lights that were turning on and off, but that wouldn't be enough with the small intermediate of complete blackness.
"We won't be able to get out with the lockdown mode, we need to deactivate it and then rush out." He said, scanning the area around him quickly before running towards a flight of stairs that led to the second floor. She quickly followed behind him.
"We need to find the master of the house, they are the only ones able to disable this thing. No way is this dumb keycard going to do anything." She said, throwing the keycard away like the trash she saw it as now. There was no use in it any more. Oh how she really really wanted to pin a dagger into the master's heart right now. Gladion only noticed this after she did it.
"Why did you do that?!" He snapped at her.
"It's garbage now." He gave her an irritated look.
"Thank rationally! There could still be doors that we can open with that!" He yelled at her.
"It's lockdown mode, nothing will get opened with that thing. The only keycard now is the master." She said, thinking her actions were nothing.
Before he could scold her any further, more gunshots were shot their way, one grazing his right cheek. He quickly took two arrows and shot them to the incoming guards that were running around the corner. There was no more time for chit chat. They started running.
The gunshots echoed throughout the hallway, adding to the already resonating alarms. Some bullets  broke the porcelain decoration scattered throughout the hallway, while others made paintings fall and crash to their doom. 'They sure will lose money, that's for sure.' Diana though.
Meanwhile, Gladion tried his best to keep the guards from ever aiming well at them, shooting arrows to distract them or cause them damage to forcibly make them move and miss. 'I hate my luck.' He thought with irritation as he turned away, scanning the hallway to try to decide on a plan. None was coming to his mind. Too many things could go wrong. He hit himself multiple times on the head.
"Damn it." He cursed out loud, Diana only giving him a glance.
As much as he hated to admit it, they had to get the master to deactivate the lockdown. There was no other choice. If they did not, nothing else would give them a chance to get out of the mansion. There was no way they could just get out during lockdown mode.
'Even if I use Null, he could get hurt with the bullets, and even if that didn't happen, he would be seen and then what? With what we saw at that lab, this company can very well have some connection to Aether. That witch could find me and take away Null, placing her one step away from achieving her goal. I can't let that happen, not when my plan with the siblings is barely being placed.'
There was also something else to consider, the technology at their disposal. This mansion has many prototypes, many new technologies that they have never encountered, what assured them that same technology wouldn't be embedded within the protocol? Nothing. Nothing assured them that.
'Finding the master it is then.'
"We need to go to the top floor." He said, both running down a hall, sliding slightly before proceeding to run. There was a flight of stars up ahead, leading to the third floor. 'Perfect.' "They would be the furthest away from all the commotion." The main boss wouldn't get his hands dirty, now so early on the game at least.
The ringing of the alarm only got more intense once they stepped into the third floor. Whether it was for more alarms being present upstairs for some reason or the fact that their brains were playing tricks on them, they weren't sure, all they knew was that if this continued, their ears might as well bleed and make them deff.
"Fucking alarms, shut up!" Diana growled as Gladion scanned the area. His emerald green eyes darting all over at a quick pace, digesting every detail that might held them.
There were no labels to indicate the main security room. There were more decorations that would soon be demolished by bullets. The whole hallway was coated in red to quickly be submerged into a black ink, all happening within a span of two seconds. Over all, they were going to go into the third floor far more blind then the last two. 'Arceus damn it.'
"Even Stupid Paranoia won't help us now." He said under his breath as he took two arrows and placed them on the bow, ready to shoot if he needed to as they rounded the corner. Their eyes went wide upon seeing what was in front of them.

The whole hallway had doors on both sides, all with keycard panels.

Gladion gave Diana a look, one that made her huff and do a sad attempt of crossing her arms, having the small generator in her arms. "Okay maybe I was irrational and that thing could have helped us more." She said half heartedly. He rolled his eyes looking at the first door, 'Sala De Conferencia-1.' Good thing they were labeled...in Unovian.
"Label reading will be your job, I will check if they come near." Diana said, twirling her dagger in her free hand. Having no choice but to comply with her order, he started jogging down the hallway, reading the labels as he went by. Two meters down and he finally found it.
"Diana!" There was no need to tell more words, her hurting over as he did what he needed to open the door. When he did, they both entered, him holding his arrows back as she held her dagger firmly, closing the door behind them.
The master was not inside the room.
"Where the hell is he?" She growled.
"Hiding somewhere else." Not for long though. He quickly went to the main control panel and looked through the cameras, a majority being broken. 'I never saw cameras because they were hidden by everyday things...damn it! That was such a paranoid thing to do...yet I didn't even think of that possibility. Good going Gladion, that's how you give yourself away to the enemy.'
"Find that man already."
"I'm trying, geez." He clicked through the footage, seeing where the guards were currently, which wasn't far, and where the master could be. They do not know how the master looks like, but whoever they were, they needed to be alone with some guards at their side. He finally stopped when he found Colress, two guards with him as he talked through the phone. He narrowed his eyes, enabling the microphone in the room.
"No se preocupe señor, todo está bajo control. Llame a la Policía Internacional como me dijo...No, El niño no tiene nada de especial como la chica....No el no sabe nada...Si supiera, no me o biera dicho nada de lo que me dijo...Si, claro, color diga." The scientist hung up.
"No tarda en llegar la Policía Internacional." He told the guards.
"Señor, somos capaces de lidiar con esos mocosos. No hay necesidad de-"
"Son órdenes del jefe."
"What are they saying?" Diana asked.
"International Police is coming in the picture soon if we don't hurry." He informed her. She scoffed.
"It wouldn't be the first time I came across them. Don't worry, I can't deal with them. Even a Senior Agent couldn't defeat me." She said.
"Don't act so cocky." He said.
"Se a puesto silencioso, vallan a ver que pasa en las cámaras." Colress ordered.
"We need to get out."
"Why?"
"There coming here."

"Senior Gabena." The male during, looking at his assistant.
"What is it?"
"I got a call. We were given orders to send our unit to  the Plasma Mansion located in Akala Island." The male raised an eyebrow.
"Now why would they want us there? As far as I'm concerned, they have their own set of guards there to deal with any situation within that mansion."
"The thing is, the Ice Assassin was seen breaking in." He stood up from his desk, his movement causing his cup of Momo Milk to spill on his desk.
"Round them up."
