Ch 45: Aether Paradise

Luna's POV
We arrived to Hano Grand Resort after a treacherous ride through the rocky surface of the Ruins of Life. I didn't enjoy that at all. Not only did I have to cling on Sun for almost the whole ride because his Pager just didn't know how to walk without almost tripping, I also had to deal with Sun either scolding me or laughing at my behavior. I was so close in pushing him off the damn Pager, yet for some reason didn't at the end.
"Finally!" I said relieved as I jumped off the Mudsdale.
"You are a drama queen." Sun said as he thanked his pager and allowed it to go off.
"Drama queen? DrAmA qUeEn?!?!? That Mudsdale didn't even know how to walk on their four legs!" I snapped. He sweat dropped.
"Calm down. I promise that will be the last time you have to deal with me and my Mudsdale Pager." He said as he lifted up his hand with a grin. I stood their, not uttering a word.
"You really ares pice of work." I said while crossing my arms. He shrugged.
"This is how I was raised." He said as we started to walk up the hotel. Every nerve in my body told me to turn and run away from the scene but it wasn't like Sun would just allow me to flee.
"You parents sure raised you to be a ray of sunshine." He froze in the spot when he heard those words. I raised an eyebrow.
"What?" I asked.
"Mum raised me, my father didn't care enough to stay." He said. 'I...hit a nerve didn't I?' I asked myself. "Eh, I don't care about him. If he didn't care why should I? My Mum is the only parent I need. Heck, I don't even care that I don't remember him." He said, waving it off as if it was nothing. I frowned.
"You never asked your mom?" I asked, proceeding to walk along side him.
"She always avoided the subject. I was curious when I was younger but that curiosity faded over time. After a while I didn't care if I had a father or not. Besides, I had other things to worry about. Team Rocket was doing trouble and my cousin had his own with his group. To tell you the Dexholders of Kanto hated each other at one point. After Team Rocket supposedly faded away from existence, things were good but then something happened. My cousin became a new person, someone I recognize and decided to cut himself out of the world. I mentioned it before, didn't I?" He said with a small sad smile.
"Have the rest tried to...slap some sense into him?" I asked.
"For the first few months yes, but they all gradually gave up. Yellow is probably the only one who hasn't stopped trying, but I doubt that will last long. I keep communication with her, she always replies with the same thing, that nothing has changed. But now the circumstances are different, Team Rocket is at it again and I am sure he will not stay on the sidelines. I believe you have heard about them instigating trouble in Johto right now.
Red better get back to reality or so help me I am going to fly all the way to Kanto and drag him out of Mount Silver myself. I don't care about the problem that happened three years ago, it's has been far too long time for hiding. He better man up and deal with it like the fighter he is recognized as." He said with a huff. We went through the entrance of the resort, finding the one person we never thought would enter.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked. He turned and grinned.
"Alola, Sun, Luna!" The Pineapple chirped as he ran up to us.
"Alola!" Sun greeted back. They did a fist bump between friends and the Pineapple turned to me.
"How come you and Sun were together?" He asked and his eyes widen as he jumped back, pointing at Sun. "Are you cheating on Lillie with Luna?!" He exclaimed. That sure brought attention to us. I chuckled nervously. 'When the Pineapple is added into the blend, there shall be a commotion.' I thought.
"What?! No! Also, Lillie isn't even my girlfriend! Luna in my eyes is only a sister, nothing else." Sun said sternly.
"Pineapple, the reason why I am here is because I was literally dragged here by Sun himself. I much rather lie in a tomb than deal with the Crazy Psychic Scientist." I said.
"Who is that?" Sun asked.
"Well, didn't know you knew these boys, Luna." We all turned, seeing the Fabulous Faba himself. I glared at him.
"Aren't you supposed to be doing your important job?" I asked with an eye roll.
"I am merely inviting these two to have a look around Aether." He said. I sweat dropped.
"How noble of you." I said bluntly.
"Uhh...you know each other?" Sun asked as he pointed at me and Faba.
"My uncle has a deal with the foundation. We have to deal with each other, unfortunately." I said.
"Precisely." Faba said with narrowed eyes.
"Cool! So your uncle is partners with the Aether Foundation! So cool!" Sun said with stars in his eyes. I looked away. 'Yeah...cool.' I noticed Faba's eyes linger on us, making me quite suspicious. I narrowed my eyes, sensing there was something else... something that bothered Faba greatly.
"Boy, what's your native region?" He asked suddenly. Sun tilted his head.
"Kanto." Sun replied. I was confused. Why the hell would Faba want to know which region Sun originated from?
"I see." He muttered, smoothing out his beard as he thought over Sun's response.
"May I ask why?" Sun said.
"Oh, you just seem like an Alolian. Have you been here before?" He asked. I felt something was completely wrong here.
"No sir." Sun answered, still pretty confused. Faba gave me a glance and then looked at Sun.
"You two look oddly similar, as if you two were-"
"Twins? Yeah we get that a lot. I will ask you to not refer to us that way, I have enough problems with this boy actually believing it's real." I said coldly. He gave me a hard look before turning.
"I was just making an observation. Now, let's head to the foundation. Mistress Lusamine is waiting for our arrival and she should not be kept waiting." He said and turned his heel. I pressed my lips in a thin life. 'I don't like this. Why would Faba ask these two to come to Aether and why...why did he look at me and Sun that way. Something here isn't right and it isn't sitting well with me, not one bit.'
We walked towards the docks, an Aether ferry stood out within the many ferries. 'Of course we would go on their ferry. Luxury only for the guests who are important. Typical.' I thought with slight annoyance. We boarded the ferry, much to the Pineapple's joy. Sun seemed to be more controlled, but I could clearly see he was overly excited as well. 'Luxury gets people every time, even the most humble.'
"I need to speak to you." I turned and glared at Faba as the ferry started running.
"Make it quick. I don't want to rise suspicion." I said. We walked away from the two males, towards the back of ferry.
"How long have you know those two?" He asked.
"For about a few months, a few weeks before I was given my current mission." I said as I leaned on the railing, letting the breeze hit my face.
"I heard the name of a girl, the same name of the Young Mistress." I held every urge to flinch at that moment. I need to keep my cool and not act through my involuntary movements.
"I assure you that they have no correlation. That's the nickname of the girl they befriended. Her name is Lilian, they just call her Lili." I lied. 'Queen Lilian, if you were once real, please forgive my use of your name.' I thought.
"Is that so." He said with narrowed eyes.
"If she were the girl, I would have recognized her immediately as Mistress Lusamine's daughter. They look alike after all." I said all carefree.
Wanting to leave the conversation of the Blondie behind, I proceeded to ask why he had invited Sun and the Pineapple in the first place.
"Mistress Lusamine wants to see what is so special about those two. They have been an annoyance. You know how the saying goes, keep your friends close and your enemies closer." He said, his eyes closed. He then opened them and looked down at me. "She might ask you to keep an eye on them and keep them under control." He added.
"In other words, you only invited them because they are the enemy." I said bluntly as I turned away from him, not interested at all. "What a boring move." I said.
"You are here to follow orders, not to give your opinion." He said sharply and turned away. "You have your time limit, if you don't finish by that time, we will take the matter into our own hands. We know very well how to manipulate the two." He said.
"Then why did you need me in the first place?" I asked.
"The boy needs to learn once and for all that he can't go against us. If he didn't learn by seeing it happen to that girl, he will learn by having it done to him." He said and walked away. Before I could pounder over his words, Sun found me and hurried over, a huge grin plastered in his face.
"So this is where you ran off to. How excited are you? Greatly or extremely excited?" He asked.
"How about...neutral." I said. He pouted.
"You are no fun." I sweat dropped.
"Sun, you dragged me into this." I said. He shrugged and leaned on the railing.
"About the ruins, do you think the Divine Weapons are actually real?" He asked.
"No."

We soon arrived to the foundation. The boys were much more excited than I was, to the point they ran through the entrence. I sighed.
"Kids." I muttered.
"Here we are, you two. This is Aether Paradise." He said. The boys looked around, as if they have just entered a candy shop. "Aether Paradise is a facility created for the conservation of Pokémon. It has been outfitted with all of the latest technology for this purpose. Downstairs, our teams work on developing new Poké Balls and more. All this for the sake of Pokémon conservation." He started to explained.
"Wow! That's amazing." Sun exclaimed as he looked around, finding some Pokémon roaming in their respective conservation area on this floor. 'If you think that's awesome wait till you see the main conservation area.' "This makes me want to catch all of them." He added with stars in his eyes.
"That won't be possible Sun." I said. He turned to me.
"Why?" He asked.
"Because you won't be able to use any of your Pokéballs within Aether Paradise. A jamming signal is broadcasted throughout the facility to prevent them from functioning." Faba informed.
"Huh?! Why is that?" The Pineapple asked.
"These are Pokémon who most likely got hurt, they need rest. Also, this is a conservation center, not a catching one." I said, doing some weird movements with my hands. I took notice of a familiar purple hair. 'Things are about to get better.'
"Excuse me, Mr. Faba..."
"Excuse you! What is the meaning of that form of address? I have a title for a reason! How else will anyone know how important I am?" Faba said, all offended. Wicke sighed.
"Yes... Branch Manager Faba..." She said, quite annoyed.
"Now, I must go speak with the president about our conservation efforts on Akala... Show these children around, and then take them to meet the president as well." Faba instructed and went off. She let out a small sigh of relief.
"Crazy Psychic Scientist indeed." I muttered.
"Welcome to Aether Paradise, Sun, and Hau. My name is Wicke." She introduced herself to the boys. She gave me a glance.
"I wasn't aware you would come as well."
"I was dragged here." I replied. She looked between me and Sun, her eyes going wide.
"Wicke, please don't go through the same route as Faba earlier." I said as I pinched the upper area of my nose. She went quite for a hit before smiling.
"Don't worry darling, I don't go off small suspicions." She said and clapped her hands together, turning her attention towards the boys.
"One of our employees told me about your meeting on Akala Island. And of course, I heard how you helped protect the Pokémon there, too, young Mr. Hau. Thank you very much! Let me show you around. The main entrance is up above us." She said as she led us towards the platform.
"Shall we zip right up there?" She asked rhetorically and typed the command. The platform zoom to the upper floor, leaving the Pineapple slightly dazed. Wicke proceeded to inform the boys about the different areas, with me only giving some comments to the conversation. They soon were given the liberty to run off and explore, much to their delight.
"How have you been, Miss.Luna?" Wicke asked.
"Neutral." I deadpanned.
"So, about Sun, he looks li-"
"If you are going to start again, I suggest you stop annoying me." I interrupted. Silence followed. Sun then came intro cut that silence.
"This place is so cool! There are so many Pokémon! Yellow-San would be extremely happy in this place." Sun chirped.
"You come from Kanto?" Wicke asked with surprise.
"Yep! So, when are we going to meet the President I keep hearing about?" He asked, now the Pineapple coming back from his own journey.
"If you'd like to meet President Lusamine, she should be here in the conservation area now." Wicke politely replied. As in cus, Lusamine herself came forth.
"You must be Sun and Hau. Welcome to Aether Paradise. The Aether Foundation's own private island" She said. She looked at me and smiled. "I see you have met Luna." She added as she turned her attention back towards them.
"I am the president of the foundation. But please, just call me Lusamine. I'm so glad that we got to meet." She introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you miss." Sun greeted back. That caused the president to smile.
"I'm glad there are people like you, who travel the islands to learn more about Pokémon... But there are also those unfortunate people who harm Pokémon for their own selfish reasons or even for profit. And that is why I am here. I will be like a mother to all of those poor Pokémon and shower them with love. Even Pokémon from distant worlds, far from the Alola region, are worthy of my love." She proclaimed. I narrowed my eyes. 'That last sentence better be a bluff.'
"It might come off as rude but...how old are you?" Sun asked.
"Yeah I want to know as well." The Pineapple said. I flinched.
"You never ask a grown woman her age! That's disrespectful!" I snapped at them.
"Now now Luna, don't be so snappy. You sweet boys, I'm way over 40." She said cheerfully with a chuckle.
"Wow! You don't look over 20 miss!" The Pineapple complemented.
"Oh, you! The right style does wonders, you know. And, Hau, your style is a bit wanting, hm? I'll have to take you out sometime and help you pick a smashing outfit." She said. 'In other words you need to dress better.' I thought with a smirk.
"But I like what I wear." The Pineapple said with a small baffled look. "What's wrong with my clothes?" He asked.
"Oh, don't you worry. You just leave everything up to me. Trust me—children would all be much happier if they'd only listen to the adults around them." She said. Something in those words didn't sit well with me, and the way her eyes seemed to gleam with slight...craziness...didn't help. I suddenly felt the floor move below my feet. I held on to the railing, as did Sun and Wicke. The Pineapple however, fell back on his butt.
"What the heck?!" He exclaimed.
"What is this?" Sun asked with a small panicked voice.
"It seems to be coming from the lower floors." I said. As sudden as it came as sudden it went away. The Pokémon in the area seemed to be huddled in fear as the employees hurried all over the place, trying to see if everything was alright with the Pokémon.
"That tremor... Did something happen on the lower floors?" Wicke asked herself. I felt something shifted in the area. I took hold of Lycanroc's Pokéball. Sun seemed to turn sharply, sensing something completely wrong.
"What the heck is that crack?" He asked. I looked over to find a crack in reality itself. My eyes widen. The alarms started to go off suddenly, flashes of red bouncing off the white walls of the foundation.
"What's going on?!" The Pineapple asked with fear. The cracked became bigger and bigger until it opened into a whole...an Ultra Wormhole. I froze in fear. 'An Ultra Beast? Now? Why? Was it from that earthquake?' Millions of questions crossed my mind as the hole became bigger and bigger. Soon, a transparent tentacle came through, causing my to step back, my body trembling uncontrollably. The tentacle became multiple tentacles, pushing the hole open for the Ultra Beast I feared and hated the lost.
It's white transparent head started to be seen and soon the rest of its tentacles and body. As soon as it came out, it roared, making great shockwaves go through the conservation area. The roaring wind from its roar brought fear upon the Pokémon, who started to attack. UB-1 was not happy and started to attack the Pokémon, with no aim whatsoever.
"Oi! Leave your fellow Pokémon alone!" Sun snapped. The Ultra Beast stopped and turned to him, angered.
"Sun! Step back! That Ultra Beast is not a Pokémon!" I yelled. He turned to me.
"Ultra Beast? But I have seen this-"
"Watch out!" A tentacle was low aimed towards him. I started to run at full speed towards Sun, feeling everything go extremely slow. I jumped over Sun, pushing him down as the Ultra Beast swung its tentacle right over me, slightly touching my wounded arm and getting some of their poisonous liquid on my skin. We fell on the ground hard. I felt the poison sting the wound in my arm, making me cry in pain.
"Luna!" Sun cried out.
"Clean off the poison from her!" Wicke instructed as the Ultra Beast continued to cause havoc. Sun took hold of both my arms and pulled me away, only stopping at a safe distance from UB-1. He went to work, and tried his best to clean off the poison from my wound.
"What the heck is that thing?" He asked.
"An Ultra Beast." I replied as I let out another hiss of pain.
"A what?!?!" He asked. I felt another wave is pain, causing me to bite down my lip. He glared at it.
"I am going to make you pay for hurting her!" He growled. The Ultra Beast seemed to mock him.
"Don't fight for such a stupid reason! That thing is more powerful than any Pokémon of our world!" I yelled at him. He ignored me completely.
"Sun!"
"Pikachu, I choose you!"
"Sun stop!"
"Whatever you are, I will not let this stand by! You hear me?!" He growled. I saw a small flash of yellow go through his eyes, causing my eyes to go wide. He was emitting an aura completely different, one that can burn you just as badly as the sun. I felt my Z-Ring go warm, causing me to look over to find it glowing a bright white. 'Are you just going to stand by?' I heard a voice ask. I clenched my fists and stood up.
"Luna, your-"
"Lycanroc!" He came out with a growl.
"Oi! UB-1 Symbiont!" It turned to me. "I am not going to stand by like last time!"
