Ch 33: Getting In

Diana's POV
I stepped into the endless caves of the canyon. There were some trainers here and there but I didn't have the urge to battle them, time is valuable while I do these missions. I did take out Mimikyu, just in case a wild Pokémon jumped at me and forced me into a battle, which was every five minutes or so.
"They don't seem to learn, huh?" I asked partly to myself. Mimikyu just continued walking, well more like sliding, ignoring my words completely.
"You know the whole point in bringing you out was to help me with the wild Pokémon, not ignore me completely." I muttered.
"Mimi." He said. I sighed.
"I know you don't like me going in these missions but what can I do? Tell Miss.Lusamine I can't do it anymore? You know how she is, sometimes I even think she is crazy." I said. He turned the corner. "Now don't you give me sass Mimikyu, I can very well put you back in your Pokéball." I said. He turned to me with a more tilted head than usual.
"Kyu." He said. 'Now he is mocking me.'
"Ugh, lets just get this over with so we can go back home, deal?" I asked. He nodded and we continued on without another word.
'This cave should lead out to where the base should be located in. I need to think of a plan to take down the security of the place though. There might be some problems in Johto but that doesn't mean they still won't protect whatever this chemical is. Heck, if it weren't important, they would have left it with the lab that created it or something.' I thought. I noticed Mimikyu place his guard up, making me place mine as well.
"What is it Mimikyu?" I asked.
"Mimi!" He hissed. I narrowed my eyes into the dark hallway of the cave in front of us. I couldn't see anything but I could hear a small whistling sound, or was it a flapping sound? I then saw little silhouettes coming towards us.
"Mimikyu use Shadow Ball." I ordered. He lunged forwards and jumped doing one on his tale and hitting it towards the silhouettes. They moved and the Shadow Ball hit one of the walls of the cave. A sudden wave of sound filled my ears. I fell to my knees and covered my ears the best of my ability but with no avail. The ringing continued on and on, as if trying to burst my ear drums.
"What the hell?!" I opened one eye to see a group of Noibat using Supersonic. Mimikyu hissed in pain and started retreating back.
"Mimikyu Play Rough!" I struggled out. Mimikyu, while trying his best not to give up, forced himself to jump and use Play Rough on Noibat. About four fell and fainted but the rest were still going to be a problem. "Use Play Rough continuously!" I ordered. He did as told and continued with his Fairy-Type move.
The ringing in my ears started to subside, providing me the strength to stand up. I looked at the group of Noibat that was left and glared at them.
"Take you friends and leave before I ask Mimikyu to do even more damage." I hissed. They looked at each other and some took their fallen friends within their claws and flew off into another cave tunnel. Once they were out of view, I allowed myself to lean on the wall, weak from the ringing. I slid down and groaned. My ears were throbbing in pain, the blood just wanting to burst out of them.
"That was extremely painful." I said while rubbing my ears, trying to mitigate the pain.
"Mimi." Mimikyu said while sliding his way to me. He laid on my lap and closed his eyes, exhausted. I sighed and took out his Pokéball from the pouch, enlarging it.
"Return." I said while pressing the button up against his head. The Pokéball opened up and swallowed him in with a red light. I shrunk the ball and stuffed it inside the pouch. I forced myself up and continued down the cave.
'Now I won't be able to hear correctly. That puts me in a disadvantage. If I can't hear, I won't be able to fight in a blind combat.' I thought. Part of fighting is that you can't always rely on you eyes, you need to rely on the rest of your senses as well. If you go to a fight with only your eyes then you have already lost. My developed hearing is a critical component in my fighting and if I can't use it, then I am already weak enough to loose.
I clicked my tongue. 'This is going to be harder than what I thought.' The sudden light of the Alolan sun filled my eyes. It took them a few seconds to adjust to the new found light source but when they did, I saw what I was looking for. Just in front of me was the bridge that would lead me to the base that was hidden within another cave system in the canyon. No one would ever know that a hidden base is here, it's completely isolated, no one comes here unless they get lost and tumble their way here.
"Well let's get on with this crap." I told myself and stepped on the bridge. Carefully I made my way through the old wooden bridge, hearing some creaking from the wood as I went along. I looked down, calculating the height from where I was. There was a stream bellow, I could see it. 'I for sure do not want to fall off this bridge.' I said with a small gulp.
I was two steps from the end when I heard something crack. I flinched and looked down, seeing the board of the bridge just fine. I let a small sigh of relief but something irked me. 'What was the crack I heard then?' I thought.
As if Arceus didn't have enough with one struggle of mine, the crack came from the board in front of the one I was stepping on at the moment. I cursed and the bridge snapped. I let out a small scream and took a hold of the rope that once united the bridge. My palms burned as they slid down the rope until I finally gripped it hard enough to stop in a halt. I breathed in and out, attempting to calm my nerves down from that excitement. I looked down, seeing the water, causing them to rise up again.
I looked up, seeing the edge far from my reach. I looked at the jagged edge of the canyon's wall. 'I can probably use the rocks but I need to hold on the rope or I will die this time.' I thought, making my whole body shiver with more trepidation.
"Damn it." I hissed under my breath. I reached out for the wall of the canyon and started climbing up. 'I need to hold on this rope and jagged rock wall for my dear life. There might be a stream bellow, but the chances of me landing in the water and surviving within that is...very very low.' I though.
"I swear I heard something." I heard a distant male's voice say. I flinched and made myself go closer to the edge. Some of the rock brown off when I stepped on it, making me gulp.
"It was probably the bridge again. We really should ask the boss to give us materials that actually last." Another said full of boredom. His voice seemed much closer, but with my uneven hearing right now, I couldn't know for sure.
"You do understand that we can't do that, right? We need to keep this place as natural as we can or the people will notice the base is here." The first voice scolded.
"What would they do anyways? These people seem too kind to even think about breaking into a base full of agents." The other voice said, carefree.
"Don't underestimate them, they can surprise you. People aren't always what they seem." The first voice said.
"Ugh, see? This is why you are a Senior Agent and not me." The other voice said with annoyed boredom. "How does it feel Zain? You got promoted to senior in no time. You are like what? 19? You are the youngest to get to that rank." They added with amazement this time.
"And as Senior, I ask you to call me by my code name. Now go back to your position and check that everything is d'accord. We can't take any risks." The first voice said firmly.
"Yes sir." They saluted and walked off. I stayed on the edge for a few minutes before I was sure both of them were gone. I continued going up with struggle until I finally reached the edge. I took a hold of the wood that the rope was tied around to and forced myself up. I breathed in and out heavily.
"Arceus." I breathed out. I looked into the cave that I am guessing those two went into. If I had to take a guess, those two were agents of the International Police. So that counts two but what I heard just now might put my whole mission in jeopardy, not to mention my hearing problem right now. I wouldn't have heard their conversation if I wasn't close. I sighed and I stood up, walking into the cave.
Some droplets of water could be heard here and there but with my hearing at the moment I couldn't pinpoint where exactly it was coming from. 'I better not slip on a puddle.' I thought with annoyance.
"How do you think the whole situation with Johto is going along?" I heard the same voice say in the distance, or at least that's what I could decipher with all the small ringing in my ears that doesn't seem to want to go away. 'Curse those Noibat.' I said with a small growl.
"Don't know, don't care." The first voice from earlier said coldly.
"Harsh dude." The second said.
"I don't care about anything that I am not connected to." The first voice muttered.
"Geez, this whole situation with your d-"
"Aren't you suppose to be in your post right now?" The voice asked firmly.
"Sorry sir." The other apologized. I heard footsteps fade off towards another area of the cave. I was about to take a step when I heard a gunshot. The metal hit the rock I was using as my hiding spot. I flinched.
"Who's there?" They demanded. 'Well...shit.' I heard a small click and steps getting closer. 'I must not have been quite enough...stupid Supersonic!' "Whoever is there, I suggest you come out right this instant or the result you might get may not be what you want." He added. I clipped open my pouch and got out a dagger, getting it ready in my hand.
"My specialty is with guns so even if you tried to run, I could wound you enough so you couldn't escape in just a few seconds. My aim never fails." He said.
"Well that's funny, mine doesn't either." I said with a small chuckle. I slid the bandana around my neck over my mouth and took out another dagger from my pouch.
"You have a bow and arrow or something?" He asked sarcastically. 'Who uses bow and arrows these days?' I thought while rolling my eyes.
"I wouldn't use wood for a fight, I actually would use metal." I said and immediately came out and threw both daggers towards him. I managed to see him briefly before he took his two guns and started aiming at the daggers. Within that moment, I stepped back behind the rock again, taking out two more daggers in the process. Two gunshots filled my ears and the clinging of metal on the rock as well.
"I have fast reflexes too." He said.
"I have them too you little son of a bitch." I hissed.
"You better stop insulting and start deciding what your next move will be because it will cost you." He said. I came out again and this time threw the daggers towards his feet. 'I just needed a small glimpse.' I though with a smirk and jumped before the bullets hit me. They hit the wall of the cave and went right through. 'Well those are very good bullets...which is not a good sign for me.' I thought.
I heard a small wince and then the clinging of one dagger followed by another. I grinned. 'He was saying?' I thought.
"Daggers, funny." He said and was soon followed by gunshots, lots of them. I flinched and took cover. "Let's see if you can throw your daggers now. With all this noise, my unit will surely come out and we can deal with you." He said.
"So you are going to cheat?" I asked. 'Such honor.'
"Neither cheating is part of this nor is it you getting into the base." He hissed.
"So you admit there is a base here?" I asked.
"Tch, you aren't dumb, not that much at least. No one in their right mind would ever try to invade a base of the International Police." He said. I then was pulled by the arm and forced up. Olive-green eyes clashed with mine. 'I didn't even notice he was getting closer. I would have if my hearing wasn't tempered with, I could have easily heard the proximity of the shots.'
"Got you." He said with a blunt voice. I instantly attempted to punch him with my free hand but he managed to take a hold of it with his free hand. The force he had, was much more than what I had. "Don't even think about it." He added with narrowed eyes. I glared at him. He turned my whole body, harshly may I add, and locked some handcuffs on both my wrists. He pressed the button on his ear piece and there was a small buzz before a person answered.
"Agent number 3019, code name Z, I apprehended a female with purple hair while trying to sneak into the base." He said.
"You have a long title, shouldn't you shorten it up?" I suggested sarcastically. He pulled on the handcuffs, making me wince in pain.
"You have the right to remain silent." He said sternly.
"Rules are meant to be broken, darling." I said. He pulled me and made me look at him again. His olive-green eyes were glaring at me intensely and his lightly beige skin was red with anger.
"You shouldn't have come here." He said and dragged me deeper into the cave. I didn't struggle, seeing benefit in this. "Out of insults?" He asked, no interest in his voice.
"Oh I have plenty, I just don't think you have the big enough brain to understand them since it's covered in dirt." I said with a smirk.
"You have an unnatural hair color, so you have no right to make fun of my caramel hair." He hissed.
"Did I make you angry?" I asked. We came to a sudden halt. He let go of me roughly and stepped up to the cave wall. He pushed a rock sticking out and the whole rock wall moved, making the whole cave shake. A metal door was revealed with a scanner. He placed his hand on it and it turned green, opening up the metal door. He took a hold of me and forced me inside. The door closed.
"Z.G. 3019, which floor would you like?" A robot voice asked.
"Floor 27." He said and it dinged. The room we were in suddenly moved and now we were going down. 'Elevator.' I thought with a small eye roll.
"You will be questioned and then locked up until further notice. Let's see who Zygarde favors, though I assume that it will go towards my cause." He said.
"As if that means anything to me or to anyone." I muttered.
"You have an attitude. That will lead you to no where." He said coldly. We came to a stop and the doors slid open. An empty hallway was before us and we started to go down.
"You too." I retorted.
"You know nothing of me Ice Assassin." He hissed. I glanced at him. "Yes, I know who you are and now you will pay for your crimes but before that you will tell us who your boss is."
"And if I don't?" I asked.
"You still will be locked. Forget what I said earlier, you won't get out of the cell for a long time." He said.
"You are underestimating me." I muttered. He narrowed his eyes towards me.
"I am not, I am simply pointing out facts. No one has escaped the International Police and I doubt that will happen now, especially with someone like you." He said.
"I will be the first then." I said with a smirk.
"Only someone smarter than a computer can escape." He said bluntly. We stopped right in front of a cell. He unclipped my pouch and then opened up the door of the cell, pushing me in. He closed it shut and locked it.
"Try to get out if you can, I want to see you try." He challenged, no emotion evident in his voice. I stood up and walked up to the metals bars.
"You should really cool down a bit. You are so young and act like a of grandpa." I said with a smirk. He pulled down my bandana and took it off from my neck. I stepped back a bit by that action.
"Too bad, for you. You have a pretty face but you took the wrong path. You have left countless of families with one person short. You have robbed many things that were valuable for us and many more people. Hopefully your time here makes you realize how many sins you have committed." He said and started to walk away.
"I will come out Dirt Bag." I yelled after him. He stopped and glared at me.
"My name is Z." He hissed and continued walking away. Once he was out of view, I reached for a hairpin in my hair.
"The perks of having a wig." I murmured. I looked out and didn't see any cameras but I couldn't be sure there aren't any yet. I took the pin and stated picking the lock. 'They have technology and they don't even use it to lock the cell doors, idiots.' I thought.
??? POV
I walked into my room and sighed heavily. 'I just need to continue on with this until I get the job I want. That way I can save her.' I thought while running my hand through my hair. I looked over to my nightstand and saw her with her mother smiling while I was holding her over my shoulders. I felt a pain in my heart just remembering that memory. A sudden buzz made me turn to the radio in my room.
"The three Dexholders of Johto and one more have saved the personal and Pokémon from the Radio Tower incident just a few minutes ago, thank Arceus that he sent them or things would have gotten worse. It seems like the International Police has apprehended the Rocket grunts from the scene but some managed to escape. Stay here to get the latest news about this crisis.' It buzzed again and another voice started to speak. I walked over and turned it off.
"The situation is under control, huh? Good thing. This means more important things can happen now." I said, glancing over to the picture again. 'Just wait for me a little longer...Ziana.'
