Chapter Twelve-Hazy Memories

(Chapter Twelve-Hazy Memories)

Ayyyy welcome back. If anyone cares the music I'm currently into is Mystery Skulls. I have joined the fandom. So ye :3!!

--------------

Ruby's eyes barely opened, she was drousy and exahusted. Late night she supposed. She rubbed her eyes in an attempt to rub the sleepyness from them. It somewhat worked, she could fully open her eyes now. She sat up, and looked around. This wasn't her room. She could tell instantly, due to the light blue covers on the bed she was sleeping on, and the various pictures of a family of three on the walls. It was Sapphire's.

Ruby shot her head to the right, and sleeping on the ground next to her, was Sapphire. She was on a makshift bed of pillows and blankets. Her hair in a high ponytail and bangs pinned to be infront of her face, hidding it from Ruby's view. Ruby had a mini heart attack before she check the state of her clothing. She was still clothed (much to her relief), but only in her boy-shorts and her shirt. She couldn't tell what Sapphire was wearing, due to the blanket covering her small frame. But guessing by the pretty blue dress placed neatly ontop of her dresser it was likely pajamas or less.

Ruby rubbed her head. What even happened, she couldn't seem to remember much. It was in small spurts. She couldn't remember much after Jasper dared her to go into the closet with Sapphire.

"It's pretty dark in here," Ruby said.

"It is. I guess you won't get to see my face?" Sapphire responded softly.

"What a shame," Ruby smirked, proud of herself for that one.

Sapphire giggled, "thanks." She paused for a moment, trying to sort her thoughts, "I'm a bit scared."

"Oh! Uh, w-we don't actually have to kiss if, ah you..." Sapphire touched her shoulder.

"Its not that. This is, it's just my first kiss. I didn't imagine I'd be having it in the closet at Pearl's house. Of all people."

"We don't have to, we could just sit in here for a few minutes and talk. Thats just as good, right?" Ruby tried, wanting to make Sapphire feel better.

"I'd like that."

Everything seemed to slip away from her memory. I guess she could ask when Sapphire woke up. Whenever that was. Ruby got up and grabbed her clothes from the dresser. She pulled her pants (which seemed to have a large stain on it) on and fixated the ribbon into her hair using the mirror the full length mirror sitting in her room. She went to turn around, just to sit and play on her phone for a bit, when she saw a cross legged Sapphire sitting on the bed. Ruby yelped, jumping a few feet back in the air.

"Oh my stars. Don't scare me like that," Ruby panted, more than startled.

"Sorry," Sapphire giggled lightly.

"Its all fine," Ruby paused for a moment, and straightened her back. "So, do you know what happened last night. I-I can't really remember. I didn't drink or anything, did I?"

"You better have not, concidering you did drive. But, what don't you remember?" Sapphire asked, getting up. As she did, Ruby couldn't help but notice how flawless Sapphire looked in a pair of pajama shorts and tank top.

"Basically anything after you said you didn't want your first kiss to be in the closet." Sapphire blushed and continued to her dresser.

"Wow you forgot a lot," She commented. Sapphire opened a few drawers, grabbing various things.

"Care to fill me in?" Ruby asked sitting on the bed. Sapphire nodded turning around with clothes in her hand.

"Of course, if you turn around first."

"Y-yeah, sure," Ruby blushed turning her body to face the wall.

"Well, a few minutes after just talking and stuff some loud voices came from out in the main room."

"You hear that?" Ruby asked, pressing her ear against the door.

"I did. Do you know who that is?" Sapphire asked, also putting her ear against the door.

"Kinda sounds like...Onyx? She's usally this loud when drunk," Ruby responded.

Sapphire's phone began to buzz, in a slow pattern. She grabbed it and looked at the alarm. The time was 11:00 exactly. Just when people were supposed to arrive. "Amethyst said that Angel had invited a bunch of people to come crash around this time. Guess they're here."

"Oh shit. How are we gonna get out of the closet? They'll all see us and assume things . You know how things spread at this school." Ruby paniked slightly, sweating.

"Calm down. Thing's will be fine. We'll wait a few minutes, let everyone get drunk then leave. It won't be too hard. Hopefully," Sapphire reassured.

"Alright."

"You can turn back around now," Sapphire told Ruby. Ruby reacted slowly, being really focused onto the story. She turned around to face the blue haired girl. She was dressed in a pair of simple blue jeans and a white shirt. Even in the simplest of outfits she couldn't help being attractive, Ruby couldn't help but think, heating up.

Ruby stuttered for a minute before actually making a sentence, "I-I think I remember a bit that came after that. Like there was just a lot of loud noises and people walking around. Right?"

"Yeah basically. I honestly think we were in the closet for about a half an hour. You want to go downstairs and I'll make us breakfast. And you can tell me the rest of what you remember?" Sapphire asked walking towards the door.

"Yeah, thanks," Ruby answered jumping from the bed and following Sapphire out the door.

"No problem. So what else is hidding in those party memories in yours?" Sapphire asked as they went down the stairs.

"Well, I only kind remember a few people talking to me and trying to pull me around and offering me drinks at like midnight."

"Hey! Ruby!" Some girl called out from Ruby's left.

Ruby turned quickly to see who was calling her, "Oh, Topaz!" She waved. Topaz came over, her flats sliding against the wooden ground. She leaned her hand onto Ruby's shoulder. She had a cup of likely beer and she was accidentally spilling it on the floor.

"Where you been? Here, take my drink and I'll go get another one," She shoved her cup into  Ruby's hand, spilling a bunch of it onto her pants. A different song came on and she screamed with the rest of the people in the room. She walked away pumping her first and jumping.

"Oh, shit," Ruby muttered, looking down at her pants.

"Come on, lets get out of here," Sapphire muttered in her ear.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Lets go. My car's across the street," Ruby agreed trying to get through the thick crowd. Sapphire looked up as they cut through the kitchen, just wanting to get outside, ontop of the counter where the beer was being kept, was a girl in a large green sweater dancing on it. She seemed hyped, and...well wasted. Sapphire ducked and cringed, sorry for these peoples hangovers in the morning. She tried to avoid people seeing her as she got through, same with Ruby. She's more popular so it's a lot harder for her.

"And then we left the house got in the car and I ended up crashing here?" Ruby asked, trying to put the peices together. She sat on a stool at the breakfast bar, as Sapphire got bowls.

"Hah, if only. Lets eat at the dinning table, I like it better than trying to talk side by side," She said grabbing the bowls, cereal, spoons and milk. She started walking into the dining room as Ruby followed.

"So what did happen then?" Ruby asked as they sat at the table, Sapphire at the head of the table and Ruby in the chair to her right. The poured their breakfest and started eating.

"Well, the best person possible found us. Angel as we tried sneaking away. She was presistant in getting us a drink and for us to stay and dance. You almost cracked. And based on you lack of last night knowledge, I think you may have cracked just a little." Sapphire shrugged.

"Yeah maybe. But I still managed to get us here well enough right?" Ruby asked.

Sapphire snickered. "Yeah, I guess you could say that. Actually the more I think about it. The more drunk you seemed. Luckily my house isn't that far away."

"This way?" Ruby asked, her hands tightly gripping the steering wheel.

Sapphire nodded, "careful, hun. Are you sure you're OK? I don't have my full license but I can still take over."

Ruby shook her quickly, "I'm OK. Its not that much farther, yeah?"

"Yeah, it's only another turn and down a bit. Here, turn right. And then up a few houses then its to the left." Sapphire directed Ruby.

"Hey Sapphire," Ruby said, getting her attention pulling into Sapphire's driveway.

"Yeah, Ruby?" Sapphire responded.

"Why'd you stop?" Ruby asked. Sapphire blushed, her entire face going a shade of pink.

"You really don't remember it?" Sapphire asked, he face slowly getting darker by each passing second.

"N-no? Remember what!" Ruby said smacking her hands slightly on the table.

"Careful! Careful," Sapphire said grabbing onto Ruby's hands. "My dad's upstairs."

"Sorry," Ruby apologized. She looked at Sapphire's face. "Can you please tell me what I said?"

Sapphire nodded, "Y-you said, I love you."

Ruby shot up, removing her hands from under Sapphire's. "I DID WHAT?" She asked. She backed away from the table and knocked into the couch.

"Ruby, Ruby! Calm down." Sapphire got up from the table and placed her hand on Ruby's. And rubbed it softly. "It's OK. Do you want to know what I said back?"

Ruby nodded quickly, her face heating up. Sapphire leaned into Ruby, their bodies just skimming each other. Sapphire moved her mouth close to Ruby's ear, and whispered, "I said. I love you too." Ruby's body ran up with chills and she began heating up. Sapphire ran her other hand along Ruby's bicep before entangling their fingers.

"I can't believe I didn't remember that," Ruby said, her voice soft and breathy.

"But hopefully you'll remember this." Sapphire moved her face in front of Ruby's. Their noses grazed each other, Ruby's breath was caught in her throat. Ruby let go of Sapphire's hand, and pushed her hair away from her face.

"If I'm going to kiss you, I at least want to see your beautiful eyes," Ruby smiled. Sapphire smiled widely. And their lips touched.
