Chapter One-Keep Your Head Down.

The theme of an anime played out across the quite room. Sapphire reached her arm out and touched the alarm switching it to off. The sound shut off leaving Sapphire in the silence. The room had a dull glow due to the open windows and the fast rising sun. She flicked on her side lamp to see when getting up. She pulled the soft, blue covers off over her small frame, pushing herself out of bed.

She felt the soft carpet under the toes as she got up. She straightened her spine, stretching quickly. She wandered to her main light and flicked it one, illuminating the large room. She turned off her lamp and went to her closet.

She pulled out a grey shirt and blue skirt. She pulled then on and brushed her hair. She made she her bangs were in place and put the headband on. The band did nothing to keep the hair out of her face, but it looked cute. She pulled up white socks that went just below her knees. She picked out a pair of soft flats to wear. Sapphire pulled out her phoen to text Peridot.

Sapphire
Are you coming to get me?

Peridot
Ya, ya. Hold on.

Sapphire sighed packing up her backpack and hopped down the stairs. She grabbed an apple and munched on it waiting for Peridot. She was swinging her legs kicking the bottom of the chair each time they would swing up. It was a rhythmic beat that calmed Sapphire's fast moving mind.

A honk came from outside. Sapphire grabbed her white sweater from the rack and walked outside. The early morning air cut through her. It was that time of year again, where you would freeze in the morning but would die of heatstroke in the afternoon. But that didn't matter too much to Sapphire, its not like she was outside much for it to bother her.

She walked to Peridot's smart car, sliding into it with ease, "hey," Peridot said as Sapphire buckled up.

"Hello, Peridot," Sapphire responded, adjusting her backpack on the floor. She looked over at her. Like always Peridot had a loose bun tucked under a green hoodie. She had black finger less gloves on and a pair of old, worn out jeans. And thin yellow/green glasses sitting on the tip of her nose.

"Sleep well?" Peridot asked pulling out the drive way.

"Don't I always?" Sapphire said in a rhetorical question. Peridot snorted. "What?" Sapphire asked, not expecting laughter as a response.

"You don't always sleep well, thats all." Peridot said avoiding looking at Sapphire.

"What does that mean?" Sapphire asked playing innocent.

"Right. Like you don't know," Peridot rolled her eyes, "I thought you didn't want people talking about it outloud?"

"Whatever," Sapphire said crossing her arms and leaning back in the seat.

Peridot shook her head pulling into the schools parking lot, "you're impossible."

They stepped our of the car, the cold air hitting them again. Sapphire shivered slightly. Clutching the sweater closer to her. She walked to the front of the car and waited for Peridot. She hears loud footprints. She knew it was likely Jasper and the number ones. But she didn't turn her head. She avoided and ignored them, thats what she does. But standing there, by herself, she was an easy target.

"Freak," Jasper hissed stepping towards Sapphire. Sapphire didn't move, she didn't turn her head, she clicked them out, "Yo! Weirdo I'm talking to you," she was getting closer, an arm away. But Sapphire didn't turn. She felt her wrist being yanked and her body spined.

She gasped lightly being forced to face the tall girl. She was only the hight of her abdomen really, but Jasper was bending down, "you look at me when I talk to you, you got that?" Jasper said not letting go of her wrist.

Standing behind Jasper was her main fighter, Milky. She was just as tall and buff as Jasper, but was less confident. She let Jasper lead, with no issues. Amethyst was on the other side. She was small but powerful. She was fun and more well liked out of then all. But she was still a force to be reckoned with. And lastly standing behind them both was Ruby. She was the smallest and probably the weakest of the four. But she still put up quite a fight. She was firey and angry most of the time. She would lash out randomly on random people. Thats kinda why Jasper liked her.

Either one of them could crush Sapphire in a second, and here she was, being yelled at by Jasper. She stared emotionless at Jasper's face. Jasper tugged at Sapphire's arm, moving out of the way quickly. Amethyst and Milky quickly parted, but Ruby didn't. Sapphire crashed right into her. Ruby hesitated then pushed her back sending her to Jasper. But she moved and Sapphire fell butt first onto the hard cement of the ground. Her hand were scraped drawing a small amount of blood, her skirt was dirty and so was her sweater.

All the girls laughed but Ruby, who only smiled, "you better look at me next time, bitch," Jasper said pointing at her small body. They all left after that.

"Sorry!" Peridot said rushing at Sapphire, "you know me I couldn't just break that up. I promise next time I'll try!" She rushed to say pulling her up.

Sapphire laughed, but it had almost no humor in it, "its ok. I wouldn't expect you to," Sapphire brushed her hands and skirt off, straighting it out. The walked into the school, avoiding talking.

Cinna walked up behind us, pushing us apart to stand in the middle, "hey guys!" She said brightening the mood. Her and Peridot linked arms, walking in pace. They weren't dating, but everyone thought they were. They both liked different people, they were just best friends, they were like comfort objects for eachother. So they were often touching, holding hands, linking arms, always touching.

"Hey Cinna, " Sapphire and Peridot said together.

"What happened to you?" Cinna asked looking at Sapphire's hands.

"I fell," avoiding giving Cinna the whole truth. Cinna smiled, she reached in her pocket and pulled out a bandaid.

"Here!" She said reaching out and placing it in her hand. Sapphire smiled with a nod. Cinna might not be her favourite person but she could always bring a smile to your face.

They walked while making small talk, Cinna skipping along and Peridot with her nose in her phone. Sapphire was walking a little slower than usual. Her ankle was hurting a bit from the fall. But she ignored it and kept walking.

Cinna had to leave to go to her locker, she waved and slid away. Peridot and Sapphire were left in awkward silence. "how's the progress on asking out Lapis going," Sapphire asked, smirking.

Peridot looked up from her phone, blushing pink, "fuck off." She grumbled, retreating her eyes back to her phone. Sapphire giggled.

"Just trying to know your love life," Sapphire teased, poking Peridot.

"I don't have one," She muttered, walking a little faster. Sapphire giggled again. Peridot smirked, "what about yours?"

Sapphire blushed. Her first thought was Ruby. But she pushed that away quickly. Sapphire had liked her back in elementary school, but that changed when she started terrorizing her, "Same as yours. Non existent."

They stopped in front of Sapphire's locker. Sapphire pulled it open and shoved her sweater and lunch in it. Shutting it softly and locking it back up. They didn't need to go to Peridot's locker, she carried everything around in her shoulder bag.

The warning bell went. Peridot walked Sapphire to her class, "have fun! Don't kill anyone!" Peridot waves walking away. Sapphire stepped into her vocals class. She sat in the second last row, on the very right side.

Beside her was Emerald Dark. She was friends with people like Pearl White and always had something obnoxious or gossipy to say. It was always curious to Sapphire why Ruby thought they would be a good couple. Ya, Ruby and Emerald were dating. It was a strange couple. Emerald was mean and tried to be the best and Ruby was tuff and seemed to avoid drama.

But Emerald was always making Ruby do stuff. Ruby was taking vocals because Emerald was making her. She didn't seem like the singing type. But she seemed dedicated to her relationship.

In came Ruby, she sat next to Emerald. That wasn't her assigned seat, but she didn't give a shit. Some girl came in and went to go sit where Ruby was. Ruby told her to get lost. Sapphire snickered. She had hoped it was quiet enough not to have been heard by Emerald or Ruby. But no such luck.

"What?" Emerald asked leaning towards Sapphire. Sapphire turned her head and faced the frount of the class. Last time she ignored the higher ups she was pushed on the ground, but the teacher would be coming any moment now. She couldn't be hurt then, "Uh, hello? I was talking to you?" Emerald waved her hand besides Sapphire's face.

Ruby leaned her head over, peering at Sapphire. "Don't worry about her. I think thats her tactic on getting people to go away," Ruby said smirking, "It doesn't really work, does it?" She taunted.

"What do you mean," Emerald said oblivous. She didn't really care too much. But if it meant something embarassing happened to the small girl, she had gosip. Which was always something she needed more of.

Ruby smirked, her heart beat speeding up. She assumed it was just the presence of her girlfriend that caused it, "why don't you tell her?" She asked leaning farther to the side to get a look at Sapphire's emotionless face.

The last bell rang. ((All fusions are teacher btw)) Miss. Sardonyx walked into ther class room. She had a bright smile on that showed the gap between her teeth, "Good morning, everybody!" She waved sitting on the edge of her desk. "Alright, lets just jump right to it shall we? We're going to be starting groups today, to start our next assiment. Your going to have to make a music video, original music or no. Each person must sing once. Here are your groups. Group one who can gather in the frount corner, Cinna Bar, Citrine Nooks, Milky Quartz Ray and Emerald Dark," I heard every single one of those people who just got called groan. Cinna glaced back at me, I gave her a sympathetic smile.

"Oh hush, group two is; Ruby Valentine, Pearl White, Lapis Lazuli and Sapphire Cold," a shiver ran down Sapphire's spine. She was in a group with Ruby. She really wished she didn't leave her sweater in her locker, because at that moment she was freezing.
