Chapter Fourteen-A Rainy Walk
(Chapter Fourteen-A Rainy Walk)
(Hell fucking yeah I found it)
Yo hey. So hopefully this chapter will be uh...better than the last one. I'm just kinda thinking of ways to sorta rap the story up best I can. Idk how many of you write books, but I kinda just make shit up as I go. Some things I do plan and some things I do do with a certain intention. But the rest ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Anyway, enjoy!!

Ruby waved to a smiling Sapphire as she walked out the door. It was a warmer day, really humid with dark clouds covering the sky. She rolled up the sleeves of her jacket to help her avoid sweating. She got into her car and shut the door, turned the key and brought the car to life. She looked through the windsheild and saw Sapphire sitting by the window, watching Ruby as she left. Ruby smiled at her and pulled out of the drive way.
Ruby smiled in happiness as she drove across the road. "I honestly can't believe that happened," She thought to herself. Who would've thought going to a party she didn't even want to go to would end up so well. Now her and Sapph weren't quite dating, yet. But it was sure to ensue soon enough. She hoped anyway. She'd have to ask her out herself. It was going to have to be perfect. Nothing less for the girl of her dreams of course.
The girl of her dreams. It was funny thinking that to herself. She had never been sure of something like this in her life before. Everyother person Ruby had dated always seemed wrong. It was nice in the begining, most relationships are. But as things continued, the feels disapated. So thats when she ended it. Ruby was always the one to end a relationship. She knew when they were done. And Ruby was a straightforward person, not one to play games and beat around the bush. No need to keep pretending to want to be in a relationship that she wasn't happy in.But with Sapphire.
But with Sapphire she was sure. She was happy and content. And well the most they talked was during class and around the halls, that morning, they connected. More than Ruby's ever connected with anyone ever. It almost seemed like their hearts and souls touched. Meant to be together, forever. And Ruby hoped that's how long the relationship would last. Forever.
-----
"Ruby where were you last night?!" Ruby's mother shouted at her as she walked in the door.
"I told you last week I was going to a party," Ruby muttered, keeping her face from showing any emotion.
"She did," Ruby's father put in, receving a glare from her mother.
"I don't care Almandine. She said she was going to a party, not that she wasn't going return until eleven in the morning the next day!" Mrs.Valentine yelled at him, waving her hands around widly.
"Sorry, I was taking care of someone. I brought her home and didn't want to wake you guys up when I came home so I stayed there. Alright, lay off," Ruby said trudging to her room.
"That sounds like Bullshit Ruby and you know it," Her mother paused, " Come down the stairs right now and talk to me!"
Ruby turned around sharply, her face turning red, "Mom, I just helped out a friend, that's all that happened. Just because you have a lot of stress from dad and work doesn't mean you can take it out on me! Now leave me alone!" Ruby shouted and turned back around. She marched up the stairs, smacking her foot down hard on each step, making a loud thumping noise.
"I don't appr-" Mrs. Valentine started but got cut off by her husband.
"No she's right. I trust my daughter, let her be," He got up from off the couch and went down to the basement.
Ruby slammed her door shut and sat down on her bed. She clenched and unclenched her fists, trying to calm herself down a bit. She breathed in and out slowly until she was no longer red with anger. She took off her clothes and grabbed a black tank top. She put it on and pulled on a pair of grey/blue jeans. She opened her laptop to see she had a bunch of messages from a lot of people. She supposed that made sense. Concidering her phone had been dead all morning.
The most were from Emerald over a Facebook spamming her with shit like "God I hate you so much", "Please don't ignore me I miss you <3" and "You're such a bitch but I want you back". It was honestly pathetic. She didn't even bother replying. Not reason to, she wouldn't get the point anyway.
There was a message from Topaz, it seemed like most were drunk messages from when she got home that night. Most were non-sense but one message stood out, "Yuo and Saphire ar a cute couple". It made Ruby's face flush and her heart stop. Did people really think that they were dating, and that they were cute if they were? It was a little exhilarating she wasn't going to lie. There was a few more random messages, from Amethyst and Jasper and stuff. She quickly gave half-assed replies to them and moved on. There was a few pictures from last night scattered across her time line. But nothing that you could clearly make out as Ruby, thankfully. Ruby hated herself in photos.
But then twenty minutes into her laulling through Facebook, another messaged dinged up. It was from Sapphire. It just said simply, "Hi". Ruby was quick to type back a response, just going with hey. Wanting to seem chill.
"Do you want to go on a walk with me?" Sapphire asked Ruby. Ruby pondered for a second, and thought of no flaws to the idea.
"Yeah sure!" She typed back.
"Alright, I'll be by your house in about a half an hour...does that work?" She asked.
Ruby nodded to herself and responded with "Yep! See ya then :D"
Sapphire responded fast, "Mhm <3"
Ruby heated up instantly, her heart beating quickly. Sapphire sent her a heart. What was she supposed to do now? Send one back? Not do anything? She over thinked it and by the time she could even think of something to do it'd been ten minutes and she had gone offline. There was no point of doing it now. She'd missed a chance, but that was probably okay. She wouldn't have been able to respond without sounding weird anyway.
She killed a few minutes on YouTube waiting for Sapphire. Ten minutes Sapphire was supposed to show up she jumped down the stairs. She told her dad that she was going out, he barely responded. He looked drunk off his ass. But that wasn't abnormal. She grabbed a black hoodie andstood outside looking at her phone, scrolling through her social medias. Waiting to see blue hair show up from the end of the street.
It wasn't too long until Ruby heard the clacking of shoes hitting the pavement. Ruby looked up and saw Sapphire almost to Ruby's house. Ruby put her phone away and hopped down the step to get to Sapphire.
"Hey, Sapphy," Ruby smiled.
"Hi Ruby," Sapphire smiled back. She held out her gloved hand, and blushing, Ruby took it in her own. It was a colder day out. The sky was grey and cloudy, there was plenty of wind that whipped around Sapphire's hair. She kept attempting to tuck it behind her ear, just for it to be blown out again. She gave up after a while. They walked on, saying nothing but both wanting to just say something, anything.
Sapphire seemed to take the lead when it came to the walk, knowing exactly where she wanted them to go. "For someone who doesn't live in this area, you sure know your way around," Ruby commented.
"Yeah, I like going for walks. I know where most things are," Sapphire replied. She picked up her speed. Ruby was having a bit of an issue keeping up with Sapphire's fast pace, but did it none the less. Sapphire seemed to slow down a bit as the turned a corner. Up ahead Ruby saw a park. She never really went to this one as a child, same with most kids. It was a lamer park. One monkey bar and a boring climber with just two slides. Almost no one went here, it was practically a ghost town most days. Which is why it was perfect for the two girls to go.
Sapphire practically swinged Ruby as they turned to get through the gated fence of the park. Ruby laughed at Sapphire's eagerness. Sapphire stopped in front of the monkey bars*. "You can climb up them, right?" Sapphire asked pulling herself up onto the bars.
"Of course," Ruby confirmed and hooked her arms onto the bars, pulling her legs through.
"This is a good place to talk. Don't you think?" Sapphire asked Ruby.
"Yeah I think so," Ruby agreed.
No one said anything for a breif moment of time. Both of them looked around taking in their surroundings. Sapphire's eye locked onto a tweeting bird. "Do you find it a bit weird that we've kissed, but seem to know almost nothing about eachother?"
"But we do know a lot. Well, I know a lot about you, anyway." Ruby disagreed.
"What do you mean?" Sapphire asked, and turned back to face Ruby.
"Well, you did tell me your entire childhood."
Sapphire blushed, "I thought you had fallen asleep. Concidering you didn't respond..."
"No, I was awake. But at that point of the night my brain could barely form a sentence, much less a story of my childhood." Ruby laughed.
"But I still don't know about your childhood then."
"No much to know. I was an average kid, always prone to getting in trouble, due to my anger nature. I didn't get really good grades, but I was good at sports, still am. I think I stressed my parents out a lot as a kid. They always seemed to be yelling. My parents don't even sleep on the same floor anymore. My dad sleeps in the basement now," Ruby paused. "Sorry, that got off track."
"No, it's alright. You can continue talking about your parents if you want."
"Hah, it's not a big deal. Its just like ever other parents now. They managed to survive almost 16 years together though. Thats pretty good. As apposed to some other parents, I guess," Ruby shrugged.
"16? Aren't you 17?" Sapphire asked.
"Yeah, they got married when I was like 1," Ruby answered.
"Oh okay. Even if they don't work things out, you'll be out of the house soon enough, right?" Sapphire smiled softly.
"Yeah, counting down the days," Ruby chuckled.
A few droplets started hitting the ground around them. It was begining to rain. "Ruby."
"Sapphire?"
"I love you."
Her face engulfed in red Ruby responded, "I love you too." Ruby paused for a minute, and the two girls looked at each other, smiling and blushing. The rain started pouring down harder and Ruby opened her mouth to say something else, but Sapphire stopped her.
"It's raining pretty hard, we should get back. I'll walk you home," Sapphire said. She swung her legs down and pushed herself off the bars. As did Ruby. The walked, hand-in-hand back to Ruby's house. They were silent, just letting themselves get rained on.
It wasn't long until they got to Ruby's house. By that time, they were soaking wet. "Come in, you can go home when it stops raining." Ruby invited Sapphire, opening the door to let Sapphire in.
Sapphire smiled softly and went into the house. "Yeah, thanks."

* Ok, so if you don't know what monkey bars are. They're like those metal pole things that are in the ground that kiddos climb on and stuff. Or, look at the top photo because they're on a monkey bar so ye
Lmao, I was gonna make this a lot longer but I was like...nah. But I hope this was good, I was half ready to finish the story right there. But then I was like no. That's not fair to my readers. I didn't even warn them or anything. But, it is coming up very soon, so warning. And I won't make a sequel or anything, but I might make a epilouge. Because those are nice. But I will be releasing a different highschool au if anyone's intrested in that. It'll probably be a little while after I finish this one fyi. It's more focused on Rose and Greg, and will have very different ships. I was uh, like asked to make it. Or something. Anyways, this is a really long a/n so whoops.
But uh....byyyye.
