57 | ❛An Act of Love❜
- TWO AND A HALF YEARS LATER -
❛how amazing it is❜
Tom shook out his hands in nervousness and cocked his head to each side to relieve some of the building pressure in his forehead. He took a deep breath, held it for a few moments, and then released it. He was ready. He had to be ready.
There was a soft ding heard echoing from the man's front pocket of his gray slacks and he quickly grabbed the phone that made the noise. Slipping it from his pockets, he raised it up to his eyeline and softly smiled at the incoming messages on his phone.
Dylan 14:43
Is it happening?
Cole 14:43
Did you do it?
Paddy 14:42
Mum wants you to call her immediately
Mum 14:41
Call me immediately
His mother was incredibly involved in his life now that he was back home in England since filming was over. He loved her and he loved that he got to spend more time with her and his family because he was back home. But his mother knew how important today was. She could wait.
Another text came in.
Mum 14:45
I meant call me after! Have you done it?
Tom grinned and put his phone on silent before placing it on the counter and wiping his clammy hands on a dish towel. He splashed a bit of cold water on his face to try and focus himself and dried his skin with a paper towel. After tossing it into the wastebin below the sink, he heard keys turning in the doorknob and he whipped around immediately. Quickly, he flicked the lights off and smiled at the candles illuminating the room. He then took his place in the center of the living room and took a deep breath.
The door opened.
Blair stepped inside and pulled her large coat off her shoulders to place it on the coat rack off the door. She tugged on the sleeves of her sweater to adjust to the different climate of the apartment and stepped inside. "Tom? I just had the greatest time with your brothers at lunch," she said with a large smile as she walked through the hallway. "Your family is always so - "
She stopped.
She stared at the scene in front of her.
She felt like she was in a movie.
There was a fresh bouquet of daphnes sitting in her favorite vase on the counter of the kitchen counter. There were candles lining the counter and dining room table and all the lights were off so the only thing illuminating the man in front of her was the vanilla candles.
The man in front of her.
Tom.
Tom Holland stood with a smile as he looked at his girlfriend. She was stunned.
"Tom," she whispered with a loving smile. "What is all this?"
"I know you didn't want a huge thing," he said with a small chuckle. "I thought we could have a private moment and then celebrate later," he added. Blair laughed, "I didn't - "
"I know," he grinned while looking down and grabbing a small black velvet box from his pants pocket. "Mabel Blair Sprouse," he began while walking toward the girl as a tear slipped from her eye and she quickly swiped it away. "You have made the past three years the best ones I have ever lived. You light up my world and make me a better person and there are so many things I could never have done without you," he whispered. Another tear slipped from Blair's eye and she smiled warmly at him. "I would never have just released a movie and had a smashing premiere with you by my side," he said with a laugh. She giggled.
"Who else would have moved away from the US and their friends and family to move to London with my crazy parents and brothers?"
She laughed again and covered her face with her right hand to try to stop the tears from falling. Tom took a deep breath and then knelt down and Blair sharply inhaled while staring down at the man of her dreams. "Mabel, will you marry me?"
She giggled, "Of course I will! Yes!"
"Yes?" he said with a beam as he stood up. "Yes!" the girl cheered while jumping up to sling her arms around Tom's neck. He pressed his lips against hers and she hummed as he pushed back with passion to lean over her and dip her. When they released, she stared at his eyes and cupped his face. "There is no one in this world that I love as much as you. You will always be first, do you understand that?" she softly asked him, her voice so smooth that her words brought tears to brim Tom's eyes. "You make me a better person. You help me every day with my OCD. You got me to be confident enough in myself that I was able to have my own movie," she smiled. She sniffled and Tom watched a tear run down her cheek. "You are my rock, Tom. And I want to be anywhere you are. I want to be a Holland," she said with a large toothy grin spreading across her face at the last statement.
Tom laughed and stood straight up, dragging the girl up with him. "You have no idea how amazing it is to hear that."
At that moment, the door opened to their flat and they both turned to greet the unexpected visitor. Standing before them were the three Holland brothers and Dom and Nikki. They all had wide eyes and hopeful smiles and Tom quickly slipped the ring on Blair's finger and they all started cheering. "Is it real?" Nikki asked to which her oldest son rolled his eyes and Blair laughed, "Yes!"
Nikki jumped up and ran forward to engulf Blair into a bone-crushing hug while Dom patted his son on the back and Sam, Harry, and Paddy all got their hugs and congratulations in with Tom and Blair after Nikki let go (already in tears). "Have you told your family?" Nikki asked the blonde girl while holding her forearms. Blair shook her head and Tom sighed, "We got engaged a minute ago, Mum," he said with a smirk. "Call them! Let's tell them!" Nikki encouraged.
Blair laughed and pulled out her phone to dial the number for her brothers and she figured she would call her parents later. The phone rang and Blair pleaded silently they would answer, even though it was hardly eight in the morning in California.
But luckily...
They answered.
They had been awake to text Tom because they knew today was the day.
"Hey, B!" Dylan exclaimed while waving to the girl. She smiled and held up the Facetime to display everyone to the Sprouse twins. "Hey, Blair!" Cole added.
"Hey guys! I have news for you!" she shouted.
"Good news?" Dylan asked while winking at Tom who scoffed. Blair grinned and turned to look at Tom who then beamed at her and pulled her close so he could kiss her forehead. "Tom and I are engaged!"
"Yes!"
"Finally!
Blair laughed at their reactions and she held up her hand while displaying the ring, "Mabel Blair Holland's got a good ring to it, don't you think?" she asked. "I'm so happy for you, B," Dylan warmly smiled at his little sister. "Couldn't be more proud of how far you've gotten," Cole said.
"Enough to come visit, I hope?" she asked hopefully. Cole grinned, "We're at the airport right now, actually. Definitely a reunion after not having seen you in a few months."
"You're on your way? Are you serious?"
"Oh yeah," Dylan nodded, "Prep that guest room."
"Yes! I'm so excited!"
"We planned to be there if it was good or bad news so I guess this worked out," Cole shrugged. "Oh thank you for having faith in me," Tom sarcastically remarked. The Hollands all laughed. "Definitely good news," Blair said and laid her head on her fiance's shoulder.
"We'll be there in the early morning your time," Dylan winked. "We'll let you enjoy your Holland time. Our plan is boarding," Cole announced. "I love you guys," Blair told them.
"Love you, B!"
"I love you, Blair!"
The phone call ended and Blair shoved her phone away. "You knew they were coming didn't you?" she asked Tom who just grinned, "You got to give me more credit, Mabes."
The rest of the afternoon was spent celebrating. Tuwaine and Harrison came over and brought cake and Nikki ordered pizza for everyone. There was lots of laughter and music and dancing that night and there would be for many many more years.
