Falcon
"Heeeeeeeey, Zane?"
"Whatever you did Jay, I'm not fixing it."
"Oh come on!" Jay pouted. "Why do you automatically assume that I did something?"
Zane arched an eyebrow. "Because of last week, when I was coerced into helping you hide after you dyed part of Cole's hair a different color."
"Hey, he rocked that green streak," Jay argued before he giggled. "Hehe, get it? 'Rocked it'? Hahahaha."
Zane rolled his eyes. "Hilarious. But I'm still not helping you," he replied, turning back to his book.
"But I honestly didn't do anything!" Jay implored. "It was your falcon!"
Zane's head shot up form his book. "Beg your pardon?"
Seeing that he had the nindroid's full attention, Jay said, "Yeah, I think your falcon lowkey hates Kai."
"What makes you think that my feathered friend dislikes Kai?" Zane asked, confused.
"Well...."
"ZANE!"
Kai suddenly barged into the room, looking supremely frustrated. "Zane," he hissed through gritted teeth, pointing at his head. "Tell your stupid pet that my head is not a perch!"
Zane's falcon, which was happily seated in the red ninja's spiky hair, let out a cry and pecked at Kai's finger, causing the red ninja to let out a yelp of pain.
Jay bit his lip to keep from laughing. "See?" he said to Zane. "Told you."
Zane let out a cough, though there was no mistaking the amused grin on his face. "My apologies, Kai," he said. "I do not know why my falcon friend is doing that."
"Just get it down! It's messing up my hair!" Kai complained.
"Doesn't look any worse than what it normally does," Jay muttered.
Kai glared at him. "Shut up."
Zane chuckled, looking highly amused. Putting down his book, the white ninja let out a sharp whistle before holding out his arm. The falcon cawed before flying from Kai's head onto Zane's outstretched arm. The bird then started preening its right wing, somehow looking like it was pleased with itself.
"Whew," Kai shook his head, relieved. "Finally. I'm gonna go fix my hair. Tell your falcon to stay out of it!"
"I will try," Zane replied as Kai left the room.
Once Kai was gone, Jay burst out laughing. "HAHAHAHAHA! Zane, your falcon is such a troll!" he wheezed.
Zane smiled and shook his head. "I do not know why he decided that Kai's head was an appropriate place to sit." He turned to look at his falcon. "Can you explain that to me, my feathered friend?"
The falcon just tilted its head and cawed innocently before going back to its preening.
"Maybe he thought that Kai's head looked like a nest," Jay suggested, still giggling.
Zane laughed. "That is not very nice Jay," he lightly scolded, though it was kinda ruined due to the smile on his face.
"It's true though," Jay laughed.
Zane sighed and shook his head. "In any case," he turned to his falcon again. "Try to avoid perching in Kai's head, alright my friend?"
Caw! said the falcon.
"Your falcon is so awesome, Zane," Jay praised.
"Thank you Jay," Zane replied, smiling. Suddenly, an idea came to the white ninja. "Would you like to hold him, Jay?" he asked.
Jay's eyes widened. "Me?!" he gasped, pointing at himself.
Zane chuckled. "Yes, you."
"A-Ah, I-I dunno," Jay mumbled. "What if he doesn't like me? What he decides that my head makes a good nest?"
"I highly doubt that," Zane laughed. "Come on, I promise that it will be fine."
Jay bit his lip nervously, but nodded. "O-okay. Uh, how..."
"Here, hold out your arm," Zane instructed.
Jay obediently held out his arm. "Now what?" he asked.
"Click your tongue, like this." Zane clicked his tongue twice. His falcon flapped its wings and cawed.
Biting his lip again, Jay nonetheless clicked his tongue. Cawing, the falcon took off and flew towards Jay, gently landing on the blue ninja's arm.
Jay gasped when he felt the falcon's weight on his arm. Despite the fact that it was robotic, the falcon was actually fairly light. "Wow," he breathed, awed.
The falcon looked at him with its golden eyes and cawed again. Then, to Jay's surprise, it started lightly pecking at his fingers.
"Uh, what's he doing?" Jay asked, confused.
Zane's eyes widened and his smile grew bigger. "I think...he wants you to pet him."
"Really?!" Jay gasped. "Like this?"
Using his free hand, the blue ninja lightly scratched the falcon underneath its beak. The falcon closed its eyes and let out a little cooing noise.
Zane laughed softly. "He usually only lets me pet him like that," he said, smiling. "My feathered friend must really like you, Jay."
"You think so?" Jay asked.
"Mmmhmm." Zane ran his hand gently down the falcon's back. "See? I told you it would be alright."
"Heh, yeah," Jay chuckled, still petting the falcon's head. "You were right." He brought his arm closer to his face. "Awwww, who's a pretty bird?" he cooed at the falcon. " Who's an awesome robotic falcon? Who has soft feathers?"
Caw! said the falcon, almost like it was saying 'Me! I do!'.
Zane laughed as he watched his falcon friend bond with his best friend/brother. "It seems like the two of you are getting along well," he commented.
"Yep!" Jay chirped happily. Suddenly, a devilish smile crossed over his face. "Hey falcon," he called.
Caw?
Jay leaned over and whispered something to the falcon, talking so quietly that even Zane couldn't hear him. The falcon cawed before taking off, flying out of the room.
Zane gave the blue ninja a wary look. "What did you say to my falcon friend, Jay?" he asked.
Jay giggled. "Just wait." He held up his hand and started counting down on his fingers. "In three...two...one..."
Zane jumped when he heard Kai howl from far away. "OH COME ON!" the red ninja shrieked. "I JUST FIXED MY HAIR YOU STUPID BIRD!!!!"
Jay fell over laughing while Zane smacked his forehead. "Seriously?" he deadpanned at the blue ninja.
Jay shrugged, unabashed. "What? You have to admit it was funny!" His sapphire blue eyes lit up. "Think of all the cool pranks I can pull with the falcon as my sidekick!"
"What have I done?" Zane moaned, dragging a hand down his face.
