Masayo's teal core deck case became a teal arm gauntlet.

"What did you just do?" Kiniro asked

"People that play buddy fight start a match with a phrase and the core gadget becomes an object that represents you in someway" Masayo explained

"I see...I got it" Kiniro said holding the core deck

"From another world! The protectors of times chronicles! Descending to protect a world that isn't their own! Luminize! Chronicles of All Worlds!" Kiniro announced

Kiniro's new core deck case became a levitating clock with the crystal which is gold instead of the usual blue crystal at the center.

"Interesting, your core gadget is definitely different" Masayo said impressed

"Thats cool, now lets begin shall we" Kiniro said

"Yeah" Masayo replied

*Now*

"Time to raise the flag!!" Both fighters yelled

"I fight for Hero World" Masayo announced

Red appeared at Masayo's side.

"Lets do this together partner" Red exclaimed

"Yeah" Masayo said with a toothy smile

"I fight for Chronicle World" Kiniro announced

Clockwork in his new buddy fight form appeared next to Kiniro.

"Time to show them what we can do working together my vanguard" Clockwork exclaimed

"Of course" Kiniro said

"Chronicle World huh?" Masayo repeated

"Its the World that Clockwork created with his power. Be careful partner" Red explained

"Right" Masayo said

"Well you better go first Masayo so I can understand easier" Kiniro suggested

"Sounds fair" Masayo agreed

"So on the first turn a player can't draw a card but I can place a card from my hand to the gauge so I can draw a card, its called charge and draw" Masayo explained making a card move from his hand to the gauge and his deck to his hand

"I see, though it makes sense that it would start differently then vanguard" Kiniro said interested

"I call Cyber Police, Assault Leader to the center"

"So how do monsters work in buddy fight"

"Its fairly simple, the monster I called is a size 1, you can have monsters on your field that add up to 3"

"So that means you can't have a 1 and 3 on your field or 2 that are size 2 right?"

"Correct"

"What about attacks on the first turn?" Kiniro asked

"Well you can only attack once in the first turn" Masayo explained

"Thats interesting"

"Alright Assault Leader attack the fighter"

"Yes sir. Assault Barrage"

"Alright, draw, charge and draw"

"Show me and my partner what your new world can do" Masayo said with his fist in front of him

"You asked for it" Kiniro replied doing the same

"I call Chronicle Research Drone to the right area and then Chronologic Messenger, Era to the left area"

"Those monsters are interesting" Masayo said impressed

"I'm not done yet" Kiniro stated

"What do you mean?"

"I activate Era's ability, when he's placed on my field I place a card from my hand back into my deck and add a size 1 monster to my hand" Kiniro explained

"What!!" Masayo said in shock

"That is the power of my clan that Kiniro called out to, we send our resources back in time to get our allies we need the most" Clockwork answered for Kiniro

"That's awesome" Masayo exclaimed

"Now Era attack Assault Leader"

"I shall deliver the message of time. Chrono Arrow"

"Alright, now Research Drone attack the fighter"

"I cast I've Seen Through Your Move"

"W-what, how did you use that card on my turn" Kiniro asked shocked

"This is a spell card with the Counter ability, any card with this ability can be used on either players turn after a certain action. With the one I just used if you attack and I have nothing in my center I can nullify your attack" Masayo explained

"Interesting. This game is awesome" Kiniro said interested in the game more then before

"Glad you think so"

"I have heard of a thing called counter blast for vanguard, am I right?"

"Think of it as buddy fights version of it, a means of paying cost for calling monster or activate effects"

"Alright that makes it easier to understand"

"Now. Transform!! Fiery Inspector, Prominence Burst!!"

Masayo was encased in the armour of Prominence Burst, but after it was equipped he removed some of the armour.

"Transform, that looks so cool, though why remove the armour?"

"I find it hard to move with all of it on"

"Alright. Also how does Transform work?"

"Its an ability unique to Hero World, with it I can have a monster with this ability become one with me, like equipping an item, I also gain all its values"

"Including defence?" Kiniro asked

"Including defence" Masayo answered

"Speaking of I have a question about that"

"Way ahead of you, the red number is power, the blue is defence and the white is the cards critical. When you attack a monster the one with the lower value loses"

"What if the defence and power are equal?"

"The attack goes through"

"Alright so its more or less like attacks in vanguard"

"I pay another gauge to call to the right Rescue Dragon, Justice Drum"

"I've heard of Drum before isn't he the buddy of that famous fighter?"

"You're talking about Gao Mikado, he's a powerful fighter"

"I see"

"Back to the fight, Drum attacks Research Drone"

"Justice Break"

"With Drum's effect he stands when he destroys a monster on your field as long I am Transform, not only that with Prominence Burst he gets 1 critical when a monster is destroyed"

"Thats a sweet ability"

"I cast Divine Time Barrier, with that I gain 1 life and the attack is nullifyed"

"I pay 1 gauge and call Chronicle Corrector of Paradox, Tybalt to the right"

"Hey Masayo what does it mean by place a card from the deck to the cards soul, what does it do for the monster"

"When you place a card into the soul of your monster if it has the Soulguard ability by removing a card from its soul you can prevent it from leaving the field, this includes returning to your hand, or being destroyed"

"I see, well placing a card to the soul he's ready for the battle"

"I won't let you down one who guided us"

"Good to have you Tybalt, now I pay 1 gauge and cast Scroll of Times Events, with it I place a card from my hand to the deck and add a size 1 or 0 to my hand"

"Now with Tybalt when a card is placed from my hand to my deck he gains this thing called Penetrate"

"Thats an interesting ability, but it will be useless right now" Masayo said

"Why's that?"

"With the Penetrate ability when you attack a monster in the center and destroy it you deal the damage you normally couldn't deal directly to the fighter"

"I see, with no center its useless"

"I call Time Stream Magician, Harris to the center"

"Heh, this dragon will taste the strength of the one that corrects errors in time, Paradox Slash"

"Hey Masayo is there a way to combine my monsters attack?"

"Why do you ask Kiniro?"

"Well Era doesn't have enough power to hit you thanks to your defence yet Harris can, I'd rather be able to hit with all of them"

"Well you can have monsters do a link attack, its where you combine the power of two of your monsters or even your item's power to make your attack stronger"

"Nice, then Era, Harris link attack the fighter"

"Lets do it Era"

"You can only do this if you have a copy of your buddy in your hand, you take the copy thats in your buddy area and bring it to the field and place the copy in hand in the buddy area as rest, when you buddy call you gain 1 life due to buddy gift, this can only be done once per game"

"Thanks for the tip"

"Its no problem Kiniro, my partner is always willing to help others"

"Back to the fight, with Red's ability I destroy 1 monster on your field when he's called or I Transform with him, take out Tybalt"

"Of course partner, I apologise Tybalt, Road Crash!"

"ARGH"

"I'll revive him with Soulguard"

"Whew, thanks for the save one who guided us"

"You really have a strong connection with them huh"

"Well yeah, their my clan"

"Now Lightning Chaser take out Harris"

"With his skill I get 1 gauge and another critical on my Prominence Burst, Red take down Tybalt"

"This time I'll strike you down, Road Blade!"

"Another critical to Prominence Burst, now its my turn, Prominence Burst!!"

"I've just barely survived that"

"Time for my impact card"

"What's an impact card?"

"An impact is a finisher card used during whats called Final Phase to end the game, though mine is activated during my attacks"

"I see"

"Now its time for my effect!"

"Paying 1 gauge and sending Prominence Burst to the drop zone"

The arm and leg armour as well as the headgear disappeared.

"Cast! Emergency launch! Forming up to bring about the meaning of justice to villains! Impact! Emergency Trans!"

"I pay 1 gauge and Transform Explosion Takedown, Rampage Sonic!"

The usual armour appeared on my body removed everything but arm, leg and headgear armour.

"Woah"

"Now I attack Rampage Sonic, Explosive Impact!!"

It looked like Kiniro was about to lose when..

"I cast Divine Time Barrier!!"

"Thought I had you there, looks like you were saving that for later"

"Yeah, but I guess now was the time"

"Normally you can't use cards like that to stop an Impact but some can be stopped through those counters, like mine since I attack again like normal"

"Good thing you use that card then"

Kiniro couldn't help but have a wide grin as he said that.

"Go ahead my vanguard"

"I pay 1 gauge and buddy call Keeper of the Chronicles, Clockwork to the right"

"I'm prepared to lead my vanguard and my comrades to victory protecting the essence of all time"

"Show us what you have in store Clockwork"

"Knowing my partner like I do we won't be holding back"

"Paying 1 gauge and 1 life I equip Sword of Eternity, Millennium"

At that moment a sphere of time energy appeared in my hand and after placing my hand in it a broadsword made of fire-like energy with a clock shaped handle appeared in my hand.

"That weapon looks a lot like Dragonblade Dragobrave" Masayo said to himself quietly

"I cast Grand Clock of the Keeper"

A golden orb appeared near my flag with Grand Clock of the Keeper written on it.

"Why did it do that?"

"Its a set spell, unlike normal spells where they disappear that card stays on your field"

"Nice, activating Clockwork's skill, Chronicles Knowledge!"

"It will be done my vanguard"

"What does the skill do?"

"While Clockwork is on my field I choose a card from my hand and place it back into my deck then search for a card of the same type and add it to my hand then shuffle the deck"

"Thats useful"

"He also gets Double Attack, sadly thats only if I have 4 cards in hand"

"So it doesn't work"

"Right, now I activate the card I added, Time Reset Force. Discarding my hand while at 5 life or less I draw 3"

'That spell is familiar'

"I cast Library of Chronicles to gain 4 gauge"

"Now Clockwork, Era, link attack Masayo"

"Of course, ready Era"

"Of course leader"

"Chrono Arrow!"

"Chrono Requiem!"

"I cast I've Seen Through Your Move"

"Good work guys, my turn Sword of Eternity, Millennium"

"I still have 4 life, good attempt though Kiniro"

"I still have something up my sleeve"

"Brace yourself partner"

"Looks like I should"

"Time for Final Phase!!"

"Paying 2 gauge, since I have a card with Chronicle in its name and your at 4 life or less"

"Looks like its over"

"Cast. The chronicles that record all of existence will bring about ragnarok to the broken time to once more bring about the creation to a better future! Impact!"

As Kiniro said this a massive time sphere was formed above Masayo.

"Chronicle Ragnarok Creation!!!"

After saying this the sphere dropped on Masayo and his flag was destroyed.

"Game Over, Winner Kiniro Inazuma"

"Looks like I lost to you Kiniro"

"Yeah still it was really fun to learn a game I'm not familiar with. I especially liked the core gadget its really cool" Kiniro said with a toothy smile

"Alright now we gotta have a card fight with my new deck, you ready Red"

"I'm always ready"

Red changed to his new form and reverted to a card and returned to Masayo's deck.

"I shall do the same my vanguard"

"Yeah lets do our best"

With that Clockwork reverted back to his original form and returned to Kiniro's deck.

"Well then time for the student to become the master" Kiniro said sarcastically

"Hehe, I guess so"

With that said Kiniro had reached into his pocket for his deck and when he did so he found something else.

'So you got this for me too, but won't it hurt Masayo' Kiniro thought

Once again Clockwork in spirit form appeared by his vanguard's side.

"Not this time my vanguard, this is one I created and it will not cause pain like those other ones"

'I trust you Clockwork so I'll use it'

His spirit disappeared from Kiniro's side.

"Well then time to set the stage"

"Come again?" Masayo said confused

Kiniro along with his deck pulled out a gold coloured clock.

"What's that?"

"Well its something that once caused my friends pain...but today thanks to Clockwork its our stage"

"I see..."

"Protectors of time itself, arise and give us an eternal battlefield, Eternal Time Arena" Kiniro announced

Kiniro tossed the clock in the air and it surrounded the area, the prison had transformed it into a room with the numbers 1-12 on the wall with a huge clock on the roof then two fight tables appeared in front of the two fighters made of energy.

"Woah this is a cool place"

"Thanks. Before we start I'd like to explain vanguard in another way" Kiniro said

"Sure go ahead" Masayo answered

"Vanguard. In the game, units with various powers live on another planet called Cray. But that's not only in the card game. It's another world that's just as real as ours" Kiniro explained (A/N, weird place to place it in probably but after seeing this speech from Kamui I couldn't help myself XD)

"Wow thats amazing"

"Now lets get started on the match,I'll go first to explain this game better also you start by having 5 cards in your hand and place a grade 0 without a trigger facedown on the vanguard circle also if there isn't anything you like in your hand you can reshuffle as many as you want once, its best to have a card thats grade 1, 2 and 3 in your hand and when we're ready we yell Stand up vanguard. Though I usual say Stand up "powerful" vanguard for some creativity" Kiniro said with a smile at the last piece of advice

"Ok"

"Oops before I forget, let me see your deck"

"Ok" Masayo said handing his deck to Kiniro

Kiniro looked through his deck and pulled out a bunch of silver backed cards.

"These cards go over here" Kiniro said placing said cards into a different area on Masayo's field

'Strange'

Masayo and Kiniro set up their fields and were just about ready to begin the match.
