Chapter 8

Here I am, ten years after I decided to leave that hellhole called Facebook.

After that incident with Purple Beck's missing leader, after which they unfortunately disbanded, I left my old hometown behind and decided to start fresh. I found a new job that paid well enough for me to buy a nice house, and I tried to change my mindset with a more positive approach.

However, I have to give proper credit to the people who helped me through these ten years.

First of all, Hong Soomi. Among my colleagues, she was the first one I talked to and, as of today, one of the few people I trust. When our work relationship turned friendly, I told her about my past without hesitations. She didn't jump straight to judgement, but listened to my story without prejudices and praised me for finally cutting ties with the past.

Another person who has cared about me from the start is my next door neighbor, Ma Hyunsang. At first, I thought that talking to him would be intimidating since he's very popular in the area. But when I said hello for the first time, he immediately replied back in such a polite way that impressed me.

Because we practically see each other on a daily basis, in several occasions I see his friends, as well. When he introduced me, I thought they'd find me awkward or stuck-up. After a drinking night, however, they said they already love me! I'm glad they think so, I've never heard someone besides my parents say those words.

Lastly, although we didn't get along at first, I also need to mention Moon Duna. At first, I perceived her as an arrogant and vain girl who found every possible way to show off at the expense of other people. When she looked at me in what I perceived as disgust, I called her out and, while I expected her to flip me off and insult me, she didn't. She might have a fierce personality and be sarcastic as well as moody, but this doesn't mean that she isn't a good friend.

If you're wondering what the meaning of this post is, it's about cherishing joyful moments, as well as good friends. Those should never be taken for granted. I might've learned it the hard way, but it was worth it.

Now I feel ready to share my new start with all of you.
