Robin's world had faded into an empty and lonely abyss as he was picked up and draped over slade's shoulder.
"Hush, it'll be over soon...."

Chapter 12: When Friendship Fails
Robin woke up to a battle between the five heroes and three mercenaries. Cheshire Was on the girls, while Slade handled Batman and superman, leaving Barry to Wally. Robin groaned and sat up.
"Wally what did they do to you? You've become like robin..." Barry said trying not to hurt Wally.
"They didn't do anything! Me and renegade are fine!" Wally growled.
"Let is help you! Let us fix whatever they've done." Barry pleaded.
Robin was getting angry. Why did everyone assume he was broken!? "Why fix us, when we aren't even broken?" Robin replied with a smug smirk.
"Heads up bolt!" Robin yelled throwing orange and red r shaped devices towards the pair.
Wally jumped out of the way, but was still caught in the crossfire. The device went off too early.....
"Wally! Are you alright!?" Robin said rushing forward.
Barry had shielded him and had Wally in his arms.
"Let him go!" Robin yelled trying to get to his friend.
Slade took that moment to interfere using one Of robin's sticky bombs on Batman, and a similar one infused with kryptonite on superman, before rushing over and grabbing robin just in time. Slade began to flee with robin in his arms as Cheshire was thrown across the room. Robin watched as Wally was taken away from him, leaving him all alone once again.
_______
Robin once again woke with a start. It was just a dream. It wasn't real. Why were these dreams bothering him? Did they mean something? Was he supposed to understand some sort of truth form them? He sat up carefully grabbing his throbbing head. These had been occurring since Wally agreed to join their side, and they were unrelenting. Robin hated them. His musings were however interrupted.
"Good your awake. I thought I had lost you for a minute." Slade said mockingly.
"Please. You know I hate to lose." Robin said going to disconnect the medical wires.
"Don't." Slade said sharply.
Robin froze.
"Don't take them out yet." Slade ordered.
"Yes master." Robin replied automatically.
Robin had grown accustomed to calling Slade that title. Once he hated being forced to do so, now he simply just did it.
Robin thought back to his dream and shrugged it off. It had been a while since he was around anyone sane. That bower is to be expected of course. When you spend enough time around the joker things tend not to matter much anymore. Speaking of...
"Haven't seen uncle J or aunt harls in a while......did they run out of work for you?" Robin asked using the nick names of his favourite employers.
The eight months robin spent alone after the failed rescue attempt from the hero's messed with his mind. The boy sealed off his former life, instead believing only what his master and make shift aunt and uncle had told him. He remembered Wally as a good friend and had reached out to the boy. The hero's thought it could help get robin back and told Wally to play along. Eventually Wally began to fall the same way robin had, though he was not too far gone to save like his friend.
"They' re in town tomorrow on some business for me. You can spend time with them then." Slade spoke.
"Isn't tomorrow...." robin trailed.
"Yes it is, don't worry about it." Slade said as he confirmed robin's thoughts, cutting the boy off in the process.
Slade removed the wires and helped robin to his feet.
"Nothing too bad. The serum just finished settling into your body." Slade informed as robin gave him the 'what the hell happened!?' Face.
"But you injected it forever ago!" Robin protested.
"It hadn't settled. You'll see the difference. Go get ready for your mission you leave in ten." Slade ordered.
Robin forgetting about that mission for a few moments, gave a salute and ran off. He gathered the info, payment instructions and any tools he'd need for the mission. Wally still sound asleep was rudely awakened.
"Ow..." Wally groaned.
"We leave in three suit up fast." Robin said walking out.
About five minutes later robin was on the roof just about leaving.
"Don't leave me behind!" Wally growled.
"I told you three. You weren't ready." Robin shrugged starting to leap across buildings.
Wally quickly gained speed and caught up to the boy wonder who didn't hesitate for a moment. Wally never could understand how robin was so comfortable and confident when he kept from building to building, so many storeys above ground level. But at the same time he understood. He blamed the circus blood. And he was probably right, but who knows. Robin extended and arm stopping Wally dead in he's tracks. Robin pulled out a gun and handed it to Wally.
"Robin I ca-" Wally started.
"Relax. It's just a laser, for self defence. I know you won't kill now, but you will one day." Robin said pulling out two glock pistols and loading them with ammo.
"How are you so sure? Why give me this thing?" Wally asked.
"That laser used to be mine. It was specially made for me by my master. But eventually I learned to kill, I learned to ignore what I was taught and throw my past away. So I don't need that toy anymore." Robin replied cocking both his pistols.
The redhead was still nervous. He hadn't actually seen robin kill anyone. Would Wally end up like this if he stayed? Is this really what he wanted to become? No. Wally didn't want this, and if robin did truly want to kill people... then he was far beyond the point of saving.
The teen opened the window just enough to stick the guns through and shot both guards, watching with sick satisfaction as their body's fell limp and unmoving. Not a single sign of breath to be seen. Wally not sure what robin had shot just pondered to himself silently. Robin slipped in quietly while Wally slipped in not so quietly, but quiet enough to not be heard. Robin holstered his pistols and climbed into the ventilation system. He waited until he found the man he was looking for. It was one of Bruce's favourite employees who was there in business for him. He had sensitive info on both Slade and dick and needed to be eliminated. He'd done no note worthy things in his life and had a clean criminal record, but his knowledge alone was enough to wipe away his innocence to Robin.
Wally began to protest knowing the target was innocent, but robin shushed him and set up hid sniper and silencer. Robin got into position and took the shot, hitting its target right between the eyes. Robin packed his gun, and just as silently as he had come in he left, Wally in tow. That was when Wally noticed the other two bodies. Now he knew what robin had shot.
"He was an innocent man you just shot him without a care!" Wally said astonished as the pair gained enough distance to be far enough away.
"So what. He was my target. I do what I'm hired for, and this case I was hired to kill him." Robin shrugged.
Wally couldn't believe his ears.
"Your not the Robin I know. He would never be okay with this." Wally said.
"The old robin died. Robin in general died. I'm not Robin anymore bolt, I'm renegade." Robin told him.
"Dude. I helped you when the supers caught you. I conveniently placed a birdarang to help you. That's what we are supposed to do, help people. What happened to you?" Wally asked.
"I grew up. The world isn't all sunshine and rainbows, people can't rely on heroes to save them!" Robin yelled.
"But that's what heroes do! They save people! They help people when they need them!" Wally blurt out.
"They didn't help me when I needed them..." robin whispered barely audible.
"I'm sorry robin." Wally said shaking his head and speeding away, before robin had even the smallest chance to protest.
