Chapter One - The Fall

Long ago before the times humans understood demons, monsters, and evil beings which roamed the night... there were vampires. Gods damned to devour the blood of humans, and the strongest among them was the Pillar Men.

"Morning Ms. Evelyn, how are you?" Beckoned the students of her Monday, Wednesday, and Friday class. Their smiles being the brightest thing to start her day.
"Well, heading to lunch already?" Evelyn replied back as her students came over, gently taking her hands as they always would.
"Yeah, there's chicken nuggies today!" Said Alex, one of her most troubled but, also Star students.
"Nuggies huh?" Evelyn smiled and shook her head softly.
"What about you, are you having your lunch too?" Asked Wendy, another pupil of hers.
"After my walk, I like walking out in the field before lunch to make more room. As well as think." Evelyn replied, her feet making their way down the concrete pathway towards the field.
"Go on, you don't want to miss the nuggets do you?" She called back with a wave.
"No! Thanks teach, see you in class tomorrow!" Was all she could hear while they ran off back inside.
Honestly the students never seemed to change around her. Granted, being so young like them was a factor.
Evelyn Williams was a English Professor at the University of New York. Graduated with a Masters from the very school she teaches. She was a legend in basketball and in mixed martial arts, so now even then she was a bit popular.
She didn't mind it too much. She felt home in the university she attended, that's part of why she came back. Because it was home.
Aside from a few trauma scenes from back then and creep of a professor, now colleague, everything was perfect.
She was loved and respected by her students, occasionally got to attend games and support others, and lived in a home not too far away. Granted, she was alone. That was another thing she hated a bit. Her mother was killed in military service when she was six, Evelyn didn't remember her much. Her father was shot and killed on her doorstep when she was returning home, she was a senior in high school.
Now it was all her.
Her against the world.
She didn't mind it, she could handle herself quite well.
She loved her life, and just hoped one day someone could share it with her.
So with soft steps she had walked out towards the field, past the chain link fence, and then down towards the woodland glade where the stream glowed like crystals. An where the trees were vibrant green, the flowers bloomed brightest in the spring. This was her study place when she was a student here, it was her third home.
She walked through the tree line, her hand touching every tree she walked past, even picking up the occasional pretty pebble to add to her pebble jar to admire. The smell of the plants and the sound of singing birds driving her to a state of bliss. That was until the sirens of the town began to blare.
"Sirens?" Her icy blue gaze looked up and around, seeing a bright star like glow, getting bigger and bigger as it hurdled towards the college.
She ran, there wasn't anything she could do, so that was all she could do. She had to warn them, but even then, would that do anything?
She didn't care, she had to warn them.
As she ran she'd occasionally look back, seeing it was still hurdling towards the college, but within a few more seconds she could see it wasn't heading for the college, but for where she was standing, the forest.
That made her run faster, and before she could get out it had collided with the earth, causing a small shake to stumble her. She crashing face first into sticks and leaves, her clothes stained in dirt. That didn't bother her. It was the wood chips that splattered all over that made her realize she had almost died.
With shaky legs she had stood, seeing many students rush over to the tree line, seeing her.
"Professor Evergreen!" Spoke a student she didn't have, dusting her off.
"What are you all doing here? It's dangerous, you all need to head back to the campus."
"Professor-." They began to protest.
"No, please, head back and call the fire department, have them meet me here. Please." She had asked politely, to which the student nodded and motioned for everyone to fall back. Leaving her at the tree line.
She didn't know why, but she had a sudden impulse to investigate, so, she did.
She made her way back inside the forest again after looking around the sky for anymore bright lights to fall, seeing none.
After a few minutes she could make out where the rock landed, seeing it was her favorite spot that was destroyed.
She felt hollow, but only for a moment as she drew closer, seeing there wasn't anything there. No rock, nothing. But there clearly was a dome where something had crashed, easily the size of a eighteen wheeler all the way around.
She could see a few squirrels that had died from the impact, a few fish from the stream as well. Even water from the stream flooding into the hole which would soon be a pond she guessed.
Who knew?
She had sighed and turned, her eyes meeting a broad chest of a male, and her eyes quickly looked up seeing violet eyes with the same colored hair.
She froze in fear, as well as admiration, he was so handsome. Barely clothed and covered in dirt but handsome, she could almost recognize him, somehow. She couldn't place how.
"You, human, tell me where I am. Now." He demanded in the deepest voice she had ever heard, it was milky, something that at just the right tone could make anyone melt.
She had stepped back, her foot slipping as she fell back, a silent yelp escaping her as she tried to reach for him to grab her. But she kept falling back, she closed her eyes to brace for the pain but it never came.
She falling into a wall of muscle before she was carefully placed down onto her feet.
"You need to answer me human, or there will be consequences."
She dusted herself off a bit as she spoke
"Consequences, you almost let me fall you-." Her mouth was then covered as she was pulled back against his chest, she trying to fight his grip but was shhh'd by him. Hearing sounds of speaking people, only made her try to scream through his hand. Even wiggle around a bit.
"So stubborn..." He growled lowly as she was then knocked out by a soft chop to the back of her head.
The being didn't much care for the mortal woman, but he needed information, all he needed was to get her and him to a different location where she couldn't run and he wouldn't be seen.
With a quick seemingly careless lift and toss of the woman over his shoulder, her long white and silver locks dragging the ground as he turned and jumped out of the hole that he made. Leaving behind the dead animals he sucked the blood from.
Seeing the tall buildings in the distance the male froze, not sure where to go to actually have a talk with this woman.
He looked back behind him to see a building, figuring that's were she had came from. So with another few jumps he landed onto the roof of the building and set the body of the woman down. Then inspecting her limp body for any clue of where she directly came from.
She was a oddly colored one, a porcelain color with splotches of mocha all over her body, a big spot cutely over her eye to add a beautiful touch. Her locks in wavy curls, a bit dirty from stumbling and dragging along the ground and such but over all, very beautiful. Easily 5' 8, shaped like a hourglass in her teacher outfit.
His eyes then catch glimpse of the key loop in her pocket which had a tag on it. Saying her name, room, and who to call to return it. As well as a few keys attached.
Maybe?
He lifted her again, this time tossing her over on the other shoulder and finding a way inside, his eyes landing on the hallway and seeing her room was closest to the exit and entrance door. It had her last name on it.
He smirked, figured out the key he needed to unlock the door and stepped inside, seeing she had a couch, bookshelves and other various items on her desk. He carefully set her down on the sofa, letting his eyes and legs guide him around the room.
He didn't want to touch anything until she was awake, if he broke anything her sure be in a lot of trouble. Not just from her.
But as his eyes wandered he noticed younger pictures of her, seeing she was a mighty warrior who used fists in battle, dressed beautifully as a lady, and seemed to be intelligent! It also seemed she was a child of two warriors as well, their flags in shadow box cases, and their tags inside.
They had passed away it seems.
"I wonder why she didn't answer me out there, she seems smart enough to know the answer.." He pondered, but before any other thoughts could leave his lips he could hear a groan and the shuffling of a body.
"What the-, I'm back in my office?" She had questioned, her back being turned to the being who kidnapped her.
"Wait, the crash, that guy! He's still out there I have to-."
"I'm right here woman." He bellowed, she stopping from rising and turning her head, body and position to face him.
"You cheeky bastard, you knocked me out outside!" She had scolded him, not doing anything in terms of moving.
"I had to, you draw to much attention. Now, would you be so kind as to answer the question? I don't have time to waste on a silly being like you."
She scoffed a bit to herself, but she had sighed.
"You're in New York," She turned her body again, gently racking her fingers through her locks, getting out leaves, mud, and sticks.
"I'm in America then, what year is it?"
She paused and glanced to him.
"You don't... know the year?" She then asked, genuinely.
"No, I've been in space for sometime."
"So, you're not... human then."
"I thought you were smart?" He pointing to the degrees on the wall.
"Well excuse me, all I saw was a familiar face." She had retorted, standing and walking past him to her computer and desk. Pulling out a hairbrush and softly fluffing up her hair again.
"I have to cancel classes today I'm sure because of that meteor, or excuse me, because of you."
"You're awfully brave to be talking to me that way, human."
"I wouldn't have too if you actually showed compassion and kindness."
He paused, almost processing her words before snickering a bit.
"Compassion, towards a human like you. That's funny."
"I don't see how it is, I didn't stutter."
That made him stop laughing, his eyes a bit wide as he stared at the firecracker of a woman, and he almost seemed amused of her spunk.
He drew closer, grabbed her shirt and pulled her in closer, his large hand then securing itself to her neck, him using his pinkie to lift her chin up to look into his eyes. He noticing the pretty icy blue. But he did nothing further, didn't squeeze or pierce her skin.
"Very interesting. It's been a while since I've been tested." He almost purred, but his focus was pulled away when their was a knocking at the door.
"Evelyn?" A voice she hated hearing spoke through the door, and the males thumb lowered itself and squeezed her throat a bit.
He narrowed his gaze a bit almost in a threatening manner before she had pulled free and grabbed a blanket from the couch, quickly throwing over his shoulders and securing it in the front. Her purpose confusing him as she then went to open the door. Seeing an older male, about 40's walk in.
"Oh dear why are you covered in mud dear Evelyn, it's not like you." He began to reach for her face and she backed away with a glare.
"I didn't say you could walk in, I just slipped on my walk it all. What do you want?" She replied, but his eyes landed on the male and his eyes widened.
"Oh my goodness, is this the Great Kars? How'd you find someone so much like him?"
"Kars? From our class three years ago? His cosplay is amazing!" He had asked her, she in a bit more of a panic knowing it had to be. Now that he said it, the familiar face clicked. But she stayed calm.
"You have to tell me where you found him!"
"No."
"No? Oh come on Eve!" The male cooed to her.
"I said no, you aren't welcome in my office. I don't want you here." She had shouted to which Steven, the Professor, had lost his fake smile and smirked.
"Still on about that day that didn't even happen, truly, you need to get checked out." He walked towards her and lifted her chin.
She quickly narrowed her eyes and yanked her chin away, shoving him out of the room.
"Get out and stay out." She then slammed the door closed, remaining silent.
She started shaking, her hands going to hold her arms as she contained her anger, and her fear of the man in the room with her.
"Who are you... is he, is he right?"
The male draped in a blanket had looked to the female, whom shook softly and spoke even softer and he nodded.
"He is correct, I am Kars."
