[10] Jarring

It has been a week and a half since the two very jarring crimes occurred. The event was a real eye opener for Emmy. Things have calmed down a lot since then and Chad and Emmy are back to spending most of their time together.

After chad was able to completely clear Emmy from any wrongdoing by digging up info on Andrew's past decade of crime and involvement in gangs. He was able to convince everyone at the station without a doubt that Andrew would have killed Emmy that day had she not killed him first.

She was not charged with anything.

After the events that occurred, Emmy has wholeheartedly decided to become a better person now. She has decided to give up her life of crime. After seeing that innocent woman lose her life in what started as a simple purse-snatching heist, she realized that her actions have consequences. She knows how lucky she is that she was not charged for her murder.

Emmy and Chad sit on the couch together and watch a tv show. Chad turns towards Emmy and places his hand on top of her head, his fingers raking gently through her hair.

"I want to meet your parents." Chad leans in and smiles as he throws the idea out there. He has one goal when he is finally able to meet emmys parents: he wants to ask her father for permission to marry her.

Emmy laughs as she pauses their tv show. "I'm already meeting your parents. Isn't that enough?" She asks, touching his cheek. She thought he would never ask about meeting her family. She hoped he would never ask.

Chad shakes his head. "I want to meet your parents too. It's not fair if you just meet mine."

"Well, my mom died when I was three. So you can't meet her unless you want to take a trip to the cemetery with me." Emmy smiles, knowing she is teasing him.

"Okay fine then. Let me meet your dad." He begs her. He didn't think it would take this much convincing to get her to agree.

"I don't think that's such a good idea." Emmy shakes her head. She really doesn't want him to meet her dad.

"Why not?" Chad asks, wondering what could be so bad that she doesn't want the two of them to meet.

"He and I don't talk anymore. We haven't spoke since I was seventeen. I try to distance myself from him as much as possible. He kind of chose his job over me so I don't really consider him a father anymore. He's more like a stranger to me now." Emmy shrugs. She doesn't really like to talk about it. It's a sensitive topic.

"Okay fine." Chad pouts. He really wanted to meet her father. "But you are still coming to meet my parents tonight. There is no getting out of that." Chad tells Emmy. He doesn't want her coming up with more excuses.

"Of course I am going to meet them. I'm really excited about it Chad. You know that." She smiles. "Now hush. I want to watch the show!"

The pair spend the rest of the afternoon binge watching their favorite show together. They watched almost a whole season just today. They had to stop once it was getting close to the time they agreed to go over and meet Chad's parents.

Chad parks the car in his parents driveway and takes Emmy's hand as they walk inside the house.

His parents immediately run out of the kitchen to greet them. "Hi nice to meet you. I'm Janet. But you can call me mom." Chad's Mom smiles and pulls Emmy in for a very warm hug.

"Doug. Nice to meet you." His Dad shakes Emmy's hand.

"It's so nice to finally meet you guys. Chad has told me such wonderful things about you." Emmy compliments them as they have done to her. She can already tell they are going to get along great.

"I have to say, chad says such wonderful things about toy too. And it's great to see our son settling down with someone as wonderful as you." Chad's Dad smiles with joy.

Emmy smiles and pulls Chad's arm around her "You two raised a wonderful son. Thank you for sharing him with me."
