Seven
Hyunji laid in her bed, watching as Jay curled up and laid down on his own. Though she had put on a movie she was barely paying attention to it, scrolling on her phone instead. Seeing Yuri had texted her she opened Snapchat and furrowed her eyebrows at the message.
Yuri: wth did Tae post?
Quickly finding Taehyung's story, she clicked on it and saw a video of her and Jungkook kissing. Seeing it was just his private story with a few close friends she sighed in relief before reading the caption.
'2 virgins, they might kiss'
Laughing to herself she shook her head. Of course, he had to record and post it, but maybe it wasn't such a bad thing. Saving the video to her phone, she looked up and saw her mom walking into her room. Quickly exiting Snapchat, Her mother sat on the end of the bed.
"Sorry, I got home late, again." She said to Hyunji.
"It's fine, I went swimming at Yuri's today." Hyunji said.
"Ah okay. Tomorrow I should get home around 3 and then maybe we can go shopping?"
"Yeah, that sounds good."
"Then Thursday I don't have to go into work until four but I'll be out late, have to fill in for your father again."
"Okay."
"Thanks for being so understanding with me working long hours."
"I know you have a lot of work to do since Dad's in America."
"Yeah, you should call him before you go to bed."
Standing up Hanuel walked over to Hyunji and hugged her, kissing her forehead.
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight."

Hyunji combed out her hair and quickly changed into jogging pants and a white tank top. After putting on her sneakers she headed downstairs, finding Jay waiting for her at the door. Hooking the leash to his harness she grabbed a few treats and headed out the door. With her headphones blasted she walked down the quiet road, soon passing her friend's house.
Jungkook ran out the door after totally not waiting 20 minutes staring out the window to see her.
"Jay!" Jungkook said, making sure Jay saw him before jogging over to Hyunji.
He tapped her shoulder and she turned around, after already seeing him in her peripheral vision.
"Hey," He smiled. "Can I walk with you?"
"Sure." Hyunji nodded, "I thought you were Jimin."
Ouch. She's still upset.
"About yesterday," Jungkook got straight to the point, "I'm sorry I kinda disappeared."
"Kinda? You can!" Hyunji looked up at Jungkook, before crossing the road.
"I did? Sorry. Well, my stomach hurt so I just wanted to lay down."
"Sure it did."
"What?"
"Your stomach hurt? Really?" She chuckled a little.
"It did!" Jungkook raised his voice.
"Yeah, yeah. Tae told me, so you don't have to lie anymore."
"He told you what, exactly?"
"He told me the real story."
"What's the real story?"
"Oh c'mon, you can give it up already. Don't make me say it, it's too early for this crap."
"What-"
Hyunji grabbed Jungkook's arm, stopping him from crossing the road.
"Pay attention, even Jay knows to stop at the crosswalk." Hyunji scolded him.
"I'm sorry. I'm just a little confused-"
"There's nothing to be confused about."
Crossing the road and walking into the park Jungkook kept up behind Hyunji, watching as she took Jay off the leash while he ran down the trail. Hyunji didn't fall for his excuse one bit. She was convinced that he was lying, which he was, but she shouldn't have known that.
Jungkooks stomach dropped as he considered the possibility that Taehyung had ratted him out. Definitely breaking bro code, and just about any other code out there.
"He told you like what ACTUALLY happened?" Jungkook's eyes widened, realization hitting him as he stopped and just stared at Hyunji.
"Yes, Jungkook." She softly said.
"The truth truth?"
"YES."
"T-"
She glanced at his crotch before looking back up at Jungkook, confirming his worst nightmare. Jungkook wished he had brought a shovel because he was ready to dig his grave. Hyunji saw the pure panic in his eyes, as he cursed under his breath.
"I am so sorry." He apologized.
"It's fine." Hyunji shook her head, continuing to walk.
In her mind, it was quite an ego boost.
"This is so embarrassing, I can't believe he told you that." Jungkook went on, his cheeks burning with humiliation.
"Jungkook, it's fine. You don't have to be embarrassed."
"I just don't want you to think of me any differently."
"I won't, okay?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, or I wouldn't be walking with you right now."
Feeling his tense muscles relax he continued walking side-by-side with Hyunji. Jay jogged a few feet in front of them, the only sound being Jay's panting.
"So, is your mom at work?" Jungkook asked.
"Yeah, of course! If she saw me walking with you I'd be interrogated." Hyunji replied.
"Really?"
"Yeah, my parents are very strict."
"That sucks, I can't imagine."
"Yours aren't?"
"No, not really. I mean like I'm not allowed to do anything too crazy but-"
"I'm sure you can date, go to parties, and hang out with friends, and go to Homecoming."
"Yeah, I can." He chuckled, "I'm imagining you haven't done any of those."
"No, I couldn't even go to some sleepovers before."
"That sounds kinda miserable."
"Sometimes. You get used to it though. It's just because my parents are religious. I kinda grew up like that so it's nothing new."
"Taehyung mentioned that. I was gonna see if you wanted to go to a party with me sometime, but if you can't come I understand that too-"
"I can make something up to sneak out. I've never been to a real party unless it was some barbeque with family friends." Hyunji cut him off, not wanting to waste the opportunity.
"Okay, it's at my friend's house about twenty or thirty minutes from here."
"I have to go to a party before I graduate or that'd be sad."
"You will. If you can't go through we can just hang out instead though."
"Don't miss out on going for me."
"Honestly, it's not all that fun. It's something to do, pass the days, but for more of an introvert like me it can get pretty overwhelming."
After already being seventeen and seemingly done almost nothing her peers have done. She always felt like she had to watch on the sidelines while everyone else got to go live their best lives. Only a few months before her 18th birthday, why not be a little rebellious while she's still young? Why not test out unfamiliar waters? Specifically with the drop-dead gorgeous-looking boy walking beside her.
"They rebuilt the park?!" Jungkook gasped. "I haven't been here in ages, the last time I was here it was so rusty! And every time you were on the swing I swear your life flashed before you, every time it creaked I prayed I didn't plummet to my death!" He rambled on, giggling as he did.
"I know exactly what you mean!" Hyunji raised her voice, "My mom wouldn't let me use it for years!"
Jay ran up to Hyunji, and nudged her hand with his nose, asking for a treat. Hyunji pulled a treat out of her pocket and gave it to him. Jay ran over to the playground routinely, looking back at Hyunji, waiting for her to follow.
"What's he running over there for?" Jungkook asked.
"Oh, I usually take him over there and he runs around and climbs stuff." Hyunji sheepishly said.
"Wow! Those monkey bars look like you can use them without getting rust in your hands!" Jungkook gawked, "Man I wish they rebuilt it when I was younger."
They both followed Jay, going over to the playground. Jungkook walked over to the monkey bars, he jumped and grabbed onto the bars. Doing a few pull-ups, to more or less try to brag a little. He knew his shirt was lifted just enough for her to get a little glimpse of his toned abs. Jungkook noticed her eyes avert to his stomach as he made eye contact.
"Stop showing off!" Hyunji yelled at him with a smile on her face.
"I'm not, I'm just testing it out." He grinned.
"While flexing?"
"Only for you."
As Jay trotted back onto the trail they followed behind him. Hyunji and Jungkook walked next to each other as their hands brushed against each other, Hyunji looked and saw his rings, holding his hand in hers to look at them.
"I love your rings." She commented, knowing for years she found it attractive when men wore rings.
"Thank you." He said.
They mutually intertwined their fingers as Jungkook just chuckled.
"I see you're trying to be sly. You could've just grabbed my hand." He made eye contact with Hyunji.
The warmth of her hand in his felt like a dream, it was a simple action but something she'd always wanted. She smiled looking at him, pushing her hair behind her ear.
"We have to switch sides, if we hold hands my watch might not track my steps." Hyunji told him.
"Okay, Ji." Jungkook said, switching sides before lacing their fingers together again. "I forgot to tell you, you look pretty."
Her big grin made Jungkook only smile in return. He leaned in and softly kissed her cheek, knowing she would quickly blush at his gesture. Hyunji got butterflies in her stomach feeling those pillowy lips on her cheek. It only jogged her memory of what his lips felt like on her own, which they both only hoped to experience again.
