Chapter 8: Attachment
3rd POV:
"Don't you have a play to be practicing?" Osorō said.
"Princess will be fine without me." The (h/c)ette said, shrugging her shoulders. "Costume design is adjusting his costume."
Osorō found it amusing that the matchmaker everyone adored was making fun of people in such a playful way. On the surface she's seemed like a goody two shoes. But after seeing her fight, Osorō had seen parts of the matchmaker that people wouldn't imagine about her.
"And what about you're costume?" Osorō asked.
"Already done. Why do you care?" The (h/c)ette asked.
She had a point. Osorō could care less about some school play. Perhaps it's because the matchmaker had so confidently walked into his group's hangout, ignoring the delinquent's threats, and chose to learn more about him. Stating that it was simply because she was bored.
Normally, regular people would say that their reason for hanging out with a delinquent would be to get to know them better, or to find some good in them.
Not (Y/N) (L/N). Nope. Not kind, caring, popular (Y/N) (L/N). She made that clear the moment the words left her mouth:
"I'm bored. You're more interesting than those wimps, entertain me."
Perhaps since no one would believe someone like him, the matchmaker felt no need to act the way others saw her. And he kinda preferred it that way.
Sure, someone his kinda crush, Taeko Yamada, was genuinely nice enough to make even him flustered. But the matchmaker had made such a 180° that he couldn't help but want to get to know her better.
"Just thought you didn't want to get in trouble, that's all..." Osorō replied.
"Sure, I'll let that be you're answer for now." The matchmaker said, knowing there was more to his reason.
The (h/c)ette looked at her cell phone before letting out an annoyed sigh.
"I have to get back to the drama clubroom before Princess throws a tantrum." The matchmaker said as she stood up. "Thanks for entertaining me! At least I wasn't bored by you."
"Is that supposed to be a complement or an insult?" Osorō asked.
The matchmaker just smiled and said:
"Who knows?"
Osorō watched as the (h/c)ette as she stealthily left. Clearly this wasn't the first time she has ditched class.
(Y/N) (L/N) was different all right, and it made Osorō want to know more.
(Y/N)'s POV:
"What do think my Cinderella?" Kizano asked as he proudly posed around in his prince costume. "I'm the most handsomest prince charming you've ever seen right?"
Can I just take a sharp needle and pop that huge annoying ego of his?
Seriously, does his ego not have an off switch or something?
"Well... You are definitely..." I started to say.
An annoying pain in the *ss. But of course I can't share my honest opinion, even if it would burst his f*cking ego.
"...A unique prince..." I lied, trying not to sound forced.
"Of course darling! I do make the best prince!" Kizano said proudly.
You know what? Where's Ayato?
As if on que, Ayato walked into the clubroom and ran up to me.
"(Y/N)-chan, help me! Something terrible is happening right now!" Ayato cried.
You mean something other than Princess' ego growing?
"Senpai is talking with Aso-kun! What she falls for him!!!" Ayato shouted.
This kid needs an entire truck filled with king sized Snickers...
"Take me to them, I'll see what I can do..." I said, making sure Kizano doesn't eavesdrop on us.
"Come on, let's go!" Ayato said, linking arms with mine to drag me to Taeko, only for Kizano to grab my other arm.
"Can't you leave us alone? We weren't done talking yet." Kizano said.
Actually, we were done. Go find someone else to torture with you're Oujidere personality.
"Too bad. My senpai is in danger and (Y/N)-chan is the only one who can help me." Ayato said, trying to pull me out of Kizano's grasp.
Ayato, you're yandere is showing...
"Can't you handle it yourself?! She's not you're property, (Y/N)-chan doesn't have to be with you at all times!" Kizano said bitterly with a hint of jealousy...
...Yeah, I'm not stepping on that landmine. F*ck that sh*t, I'm out.
"Well I do help matchmake people so I should help him out..." I said with my signature phony smile, removing my arm from kizano's grasp. "We can talk more some other time. We have rehearsals on the weekend remember?"
"Alright... If you say so my Cinderella." Kizano said, feeling defeated.
"Good. Let's go!" Ayato said, dragging me out the door.
"Thank you for understanding!" I said, still giving a fake smile.
Right before Ayato and I left, I saw Kizano's face turn red, confirming my suspicions...
Well sh*t.
"Can I kill him now?" Ayato asked me.
"Still too many witnesses, but maybe later." I said.
We arrived near the tracks and sure enough Aso was talking to Taeko.
Aso was bragging about how fast he was, angering an already pissed off Ayato.
"I'd kill him if he wasn't in front of Senpai..." Ayato growled, biting his nail.
I know a way to get Taeko's attention off of Aso but...
I looked around to make sure no one was looking.
"Sorry about this... Maybe..." I said to Ayato as I put my hands on his back.
"Wait... What are you do -!"
Before Ayato could finish, I had already (threw) pushed him.
Ayato ended up falling right in front of Taeko and Aso. As I predicted, Taeko stopped paying attention to Aso and turned her head towards Ayato.
"Ayato-kun, are you okay?!" Taeko asked worriedly.
"I-I...u-um..." Ayato nervously stuttered, face going red as he tried to get up.
"Let me help you.." Taeko said, helping Ayato up. "I'll take you to the nurse's office to see if you're hurt."
Taeko held a flustered Ayato's hand as she took him to the nurse's office, completely forgetting about Aso.
"She forgot about about me..." Aso mumbled with a sigh.
I walked over to him, he didn't notice I was even there.
"What is it about her that you like?" I asked, genuinely curious.
No seriously, how does she charm so many boys? Is she a succubus or something?
"Well for starters, she's really nice. She's not very good at sports but I like how she always tries her best." Aso said.
That's so generic...
"Taeko Yamada is so popular with so many people... It's hard to believe that a lot of people have a crush on her." I said.
Aso nodded and suddenly turned in my direction. He jumped a bit out of shock.
Here we go again...
"Y-You're... Miss Matchmaker Ai-chan!" Aso said, surprised.
I knew it...
"Please just call me (Y/N)." I said.
"Now I'm embarrassed, I must have looked pathetic trying to get her attention." Aso said.
Yeah, a bit.
So what exactly do I say to a guy who's love life I quite literally threw a road block in? (Ayato, road block, same thing.)
"If she likes you back, she wouldn't care what you did unless it would get you in trouble..." I simply said, trying not to completely crush his spirit (even if that would be a little amusing to watch).
Or murder. I'm sure that depends on the person. And I doubt Taeko is one of those people.
"I guess you're right!" Aso said, jumping back into a positive attitude way too quickly. "Thanks a lot (Y/N)-chan! Let's hang out together sometime!"
I blankly watched as Aso ran off...
...That wasn't enough to cause any attachment right?! Cause I seem to be stealing some of Taeko's mysterious succubus powers lately...
...Seriously, f*ck that sh*t, I'm out.
To be continued.
