*Chapter 5*

Demi walked around her closet looking for a dress to wear. "Mom, I don't mean to be a bother but, I don't have anything to wear." Kalani said. Demi turned back quickly with a huge sigh, making Kalani shrunk back a bit. "I'm sorry to bother you, i'm just gonna go." Kalani said. Demi ran to the door and grabbed her arm. Kalani let out a blood curdling scream.

"Kalani, it's okay. You don't have to be scared." Demi said pulling Kalani back in her room, and making her sit on the bed.

"But, you groaned when I said something." Kalani creid. A few tears had managed to slip passed her tear ducts when she screamed.

"I wasn't groaning at you. I was groaning because the outfit I had planned to wear, I already packed for the tour. I would never get annoyed with you. How about we go shopping since we have 4 hours to kill." Demi suggested. Kalani smiled, and went to get Isaac ready.

At the mall Demi and Kalani were having a great time until, 3 girls noticed Kalani. "Hey Kalli. Havent seen you around lately. Where you been?" The tall black haired girl, Brittani, smiled. Kalani started to get nervous. Here she was with her new mom, son, and old friends.

"No where, everywhere. You know how I am." Kalani forced a chuckle. Demi could tell she was nervous, and took Isaac to Carter's so Kalani could talk to her friends.

"So, who was that?" Cari, a long blonde haired girl, asked. Kalani bit her lip trying to think of a lie. It wasn't working though.

"My mom. Demi." She answered truthfully. Cari got a weird look.

"Demi like Lovato? Because she looks like her." Cari guessed. Cari, despite her blonde hair is actually really smart. Brittani, Cari, and Jess waited for an answer.

"Yeah actually." Kalani replied. Jess looked between the girls not sure if her question was okay. "What's wrong Jess?" Kalani noticed the distracted look in her friends eyes.

"Was that Isaac she was holding?" Jess asked cautiously. Kalani nodded, and started to walk with this girls in the direction of Isaac and Demi.

"He's gotten so big. And you! OMG you have gained like no weight." Cari gushed. Kalani blushed a little because she always thought that she had gained so much weight after Isaac. It was good to know that it was all in her head.

"Does James help out? Like at all?" Brittani asked. Kalani shook her head, and looked down.

"He doesn't want anything to do with Isaac. This morning he called and said he wanted us to be a family. He was either dared to do that or high, because it actually sounded sincere." Kalani rolled her eyes and finally caught up with Demi and a now sleeping Isaac.

"Hey Paige and Hayden just texted me. They want to meet up at the grove now. Come on." Jess informed. Kalani looked torn.

"Kali you comin?" Brittani asked. Kalani looked between Demi and the girls and sighed.

"I can't this time. Maybe next time though." Kalani suggested. Brittani, Cari, and Jess huffed.

"Fine, but it won't be the same with out you." Cari guilted. Kalani shook her head.

"I know but I am going to dinner with my mom. I'll catch you guys later though." Kalani smiled. Her smile quickly faded watching her friends leave without her.

"What's the grove?" Demi asked. Kalani took the stroller from Demi. She shook her head not needing to get into it in the middle of the mall.

"I will tell you later." Kalani replied. Demi shrugged, not wanting to force her into anything.

"Let's find you something to wear." Demi said, skipping off to Charlotte Russe.
