Chapter Three

I was woken up by the sound of loud music. Who the fuck plays loud music so early in the morning?Assuming it was morning. Was it? What time is it even? And where the hell was I? I struggled to keep my eyes open but the migraine I was experiencing from last night was hitting me pretty hard. When I managed to get my eyes fully open I realized that I was in an unfamiliar room. The lights were off but there was enough light from the hallway that I could make out my surroundings. I didn't even remember getting here. On investigating further I realized that I was still fully dressed minus my shoes. I struggled to sit up on the bed holding my pounding head in one had.

I felt someone move next to me and if it were any other person they would have screamed bloody murder. But this was me we're talking about. I had been in this situation more times than I could count. The so called body moved revealing their face from under the covers and I recognized him from the party. I couldn't remember his name clearly which wasn't a shock but I knew we hadn't done anything. I was fully dressed as was he and I didn't hurt anywhere or feel sore.

I looked around for my phone and found it on the bedside table. I unlocked it to find that it was five am in the morning. Who plays music at five am? Since I wasn't going to go back to sleep I decided to just leave anyway. I swung my legs off the bed and stepped on the carpeted floor. My eyes had adjusted a little to the dark so it was no stress finding my shoes with a little help from the light on my phone and putting them on. I don't remember having a jacket so I grabbed my keys that had been next to my phone and his too. I needed to unlock the door didn't I?

He stirred again and I gave him one last look. What kind of guy sleeps all night with a drunk girl and doesn't at least try to get her naked? Deciding to just leave it be since I would never see him again I got up from the bed and headed to where I assumed the door was. Thankfully I guessed right but a picture next to the wall caught my attention. It was of two guys dressed in sports gear holding a rugby ball.

When I saw them together everything from yesterday that was missing from my memories came flooding back. The game, the after party, me getting super drunk and finally getting rejected by Mr Teddy bear before he carried my drunk self up here to sleep it off. Why had he carried me up here though? He should have just left me to find someone to scratch my itch with. Guess I'd never know.

See you never Mr Teddy bear, I thought to myself as I opened the door and left the room. I locked the door behind me and tossed the keys back into the room from the little space under the door. Thankfully the hallway was well lit and I found the staircase pretty easily. The party hall still had a few people sleeping on the floor and any other available surface like the tables. I got out quickly and headed home. It wasn't far, just a five minute walk so that was a plus.

I had done the walk of shame so many times that it had stopped bothering me. There weren't many people on the road and those who were awake were headed to work or about their business so they didn't pay mind to me. The morning cold was getting to me so I rubbed my palms against my bare arms and quickened my pace.

I arrived in front of my building in no time. I knocked on the gate since it was still too early for it to be opened and our gate keeper Oba opened it for me.

"Mrembo sasa?" He greeted.

Hello beautiful.

"Poa sana Oba. Habari ya asubuhi." I replied.

Hello Oba. How's your morning?

"Iko poa labda yako."

It's okay, how about yours?

"Mimi niko tu poa. Si tuonane baadaye. Asanti kwa kunifungulia."

I'm okay. See you later and thanks for opening the gate for me.

"Karibu sana. Wewe ingia upumzike." He said with a wave.

Your very welcome. Get inside and rest.

I waved back and entered the building. I passed the cafeteria which I knew I would be visiting later and took the stairs up to my floor. Oba had been working as the gate keeper long before I moved here. He always looked out for me and even sometimes helped me up to my room when I was too drunk to walk on my own. He never questioned me and I appreciated that. I guess he had seen his fair share of drunk college students when he worked here. I always made sure to say thank you by getting him meals from the cafeteria. The food they served him wasn't always the best and I didn't like that. He had resisted at the beginning saying it wasn't necessary but he got used to it when I didn't budge.

Our building had four floors and I lived on the top most floor. I loved the view it provided but at the moment I cursed all the stairs. The rooms on my floor were pretty spacious. Thankfully they all had their own bathrooms so we didn't have to share and a balcony too. When you moved in you were provided with a bed with a high density mattress, a study table with two chairs, a wardrobe and a shoe rack and that was it. Everything else you had to provide for yourself. It was pretty neat if you asked me and I loved them. There were six rooms in my floor and all were currently occupied except the one opposite mine. The person who lived there failed to come up with their rent and were kicked out. I would have offered to help but they were a pain in the ass always playing loud music and having people over. Good riddance.

I unlocked my door and got inside before locking it again. Switching on the lights I removed my shoes and placed them neatly on the shoe rack by the door before I walked in. I stripped off all my clothes before grabbing a towel and went inside the bathroom. I took a much needed shower scrubbing myself clean to get rid of all of yesterday's stench. Feeling clean and refreshed I quickly dressed in a pair of really soft and warm sweatpants and a hoodie and put them on after putting on some clean underwear of course. I grabbed some painkillers for my throbbing headache, downed them with some clean water and dived into my bed and passed out again. Best sleep was achieved in one's own bed.

I woke up four hours later feeling much better but starving really bad. I decided to go to the cafeteria and grab something to eat. I put on a pair of socks and my favorite Balenciaga sneakers. I grabbed my phone, keys and some money before I headed downstairs. My head was covered in a hood to avoid people greeting me as I was in no mood to talk and I was still half asleep.

Thankfully it was ten so most people had already had their breakfast and the cafeteria was fairly empty. I grabbed my favorite seat by the window and sat down.

"Hello beautiful. The usual?"Nancy my favorite waitress asked.

"Yes please." I requested.

Nancy had taken my orders so many times she basically knew what I needed to treat a hangover, what I would eat for lunch, dinner or when I just needed to snack. Basically unless I changed my order all I had to do was sit down and she would serve me.

I played with the salt shaker as I waited for my meal to be served. I didn't have to wait long because Nancy returned with a trey containing my breakfast. She served me before leaving me to enjoy it quietly.

There was coffee, sausages, fried eggs, some toast and pancakes. Surprisingly I usually finished up all these. I grabbed my fork and dug in. My thoughts went back to the hunk of a man I tried to seduce last night but failed miserably. All college guys were horny whether in committed relationships or single. They all wanted one thing and it was sex with anyone willing to offer it.

Gabriel last night had turned me down and it still baffled me. Maybe he was gay. Or he was one of those goody two shoes virgins who believed in waiting for sex till marriage. For me that boat had sailed long ago. Virginity. I barely recalled how I lost mine. All I know is that it was painful as fuck and not worth remembering.

My thoughts were interrupted by a group of guys who entered the cafeteria making noise and pushing each other around. My now awake brain recognized them as the rugby team. I hadn't finished my breakfast and was by no way leaving it so I pulled my hood lower and continued with my breakfast. I hadn't seen Gabriel or Paul but my best guess was that they were among the group.

They situated themselves around the empty tables and began ordering breakfast. I wondered what they were doing here considering the building they lived in had it's own cafeteria. Ours wasn't against serving people who didn't live here but right now I wish it did. They were making too much noise and ruining my breakfast. I looked up and saw Nancy looking at me giving me an apologetic look. I smiled reassuringly at her, telling her I was okay. I was almost done anyway. She noticed that and turned around most probably to make my final order.

I finished up quickly and pushed the plate away. Nancy brought me my receipt and my freshly made mango and passion fruit juice with beetroot in a to-go cup. I gave her some money to pay up.

"Change pelekea Oba food." I odered.

Take some food to Oba with the remaining change.

"Sasawa. Siku njema. Leo lunch tunapika special juu ni weekend so usikose." Nancy replied.

Okay. Nice day. We're making a special lunch today since its the weekend, so don't miss it.

"I don't think I'm leaving the room again today so just bring me some at around two. I'll be hungry then." I explained.

"Will do." She replied before turning away and leaving.

I grabbed my juice and got up to leave. I had to pass through the tables occupied by the guys but I didn't mind or better yet didn't care. They were in my turf anyway. A conversation they were having caught my ear making me slowdown.

"Gabriel weren't you looking for a new place to move into. I just saw a poster at the door advertising a vacancy here. It's pretty pricey but I'm sure you can afford it. They also don't allow parties which is perfect for you." One of the players announced.

"I'll look into it."The familiar husky voice replied.

Please no, lady luck I beg of you, don't let it happen. They were talking about the room opposite mine. I didn't want that guy as my neighbor. It's already hard enough that he rejected me. Now I had to live next to him. Please heavens don't allow this to happen.

"If it isn't Miss. Daring." Someone shouted and I looked up to find that it was Paul.

The whole team was now staring at me including Gabriel. He looked shocked to see me but it was quickly covered with a frown. What did he have to frown about? Gabriel was still hands down the most handsome guy I'd ever laid my eyes on. He was just so perfect. Too bad he was history . As a rule I never slept with the same guy twice. It may not have happened between Gabriel and I but last night was the only chance we ever had and it was gone. It was now time to move on and put it all in the past.

I avoided his gaze and looked at Paul. I dropped my hood to reveal my whole face. No need to hide anymore.

"Hey Paul. Hello boys. Congratulations on the win yesterday." I said smiling.

"We did have you wish us luck so we had to win." Another player said and I nodded.

"Nice seeing all of you again but I gotta go. Enjoy your breakfast." I said.

"You won't join us?" Another player asked.

"No I already had mine. See yah." I replied holding up my juice.

Before they could all react I quickly walked out of there and up the stairs. I needed to relax after last night and this morning. I also needed to get Gabriel out of my head and what better way to do that than to get high and binge watch some movies. I had a new series called S. W. A. T and it was just calling my name. The main character was daddy material and I would enjoy drooling all over him for the next few hours.
