"Katherine." The voice warned.
"What?" She chimed, innocently smiling as she wrapped her hands around their neck.
"You better not mess this up for me. Don't hint anything about me, understood? You go in there, show him the proof and out. Understood?" The voice replied. Katherine sighed. "I do know, baby settle those nerves." The voice restrained her wrist gripping it tightly between their grasp. "Don't baby me, I'm serious Katherine. You know what's at stake for you if you don't." The voice snarled back.
"Yes." She spat pulling her hand away.

Katherine entered his office, intentionally swaying her hips to place her small black handbag onto the desk only irritating James more. He sighed as he turned in his chair to face her. Briefly he nodded at Samuels who stood by the door, who left without second thought only leaving James alone with this deranged woman. Katherine snorted as she sat down, crossing her leg over the other as she placed her hands gently onto her lap.
"So Jamey." She burst out, smiling from ear to ear.
"Don't you dare call me that." James cautioned. Katherine rolled her eyes playfully. "Oh James, lighted up. You used to love that nickname, honestly you loved...how it rolled off my tongue." Leaning in she fluttered her eyelashes then snickered coldly as she sat back in her chair. James sighed, "Seriously? Just, f**k you Katherine."
"Gladly. How about you clear this desk then?" She purred.
James shook his head in disbelief. "Honestly, I don't have time for this crap." He stood up placing his hands firmly onto the desk. "Spilt it out Katherine. Is it money you're after?"
Katherine laughed or rather cackled. "Oh James!" Then standing up herself she rummaged through her bag taking out a piece of flimsy piece of card slapping it carelessly down onto the desk. The fear was evident upon James' face as his eyes flickered to the image of him and Harper together.
"H-How." He stammered then coughed to clear his throat. "Where did you get that?" His eyes not once leaving the photograph. Katherine pursed her lips with her well-manicured eyebrows lifting up at the sight of James' reaction.
"Well. I'd say that you better shut it and listen unless you want it all over the press." She advised him as she settled back into her seat. James followed, slowly sitting back down on his seat.
"B****." He muttered under his breath.
"Now, now. Don't forget I can send this." She proclaimed. James sternly glared at her then nodded as he attempted to relax from his tensed figure. Katherine smirked. "Good boy." Then added before James could bite back. "Now consider the danger it could cause not to your image but...that deal." She hinted.
"I honestly don't what you're talking about." James put in.
"Yes you do. Does Jackal Watkins ring a bell?" She queried, raising her one eyebrow. James was lost in words, he halted at the snarky comment that he so wanted to leave his mouth. Instead he coldly requested, "How the f**k do you know about that?"
"Nethermind how, I just know that if a single image of you and a woman goes on the press, that deal is lost, so I do know." Then she added. "And honestly I was surprised myself that your type would be such a plain girl, or rather plain Jane." Giggling towards the end.
"You've got nothing on me." James objected.
Katherine cooed. "Oh but I do. Oh James, are you going to tell me that you don't have sloppy feelings for her?"
~~~
Night before
"So, what is he like?" Dani asked as she played with the loose strand of cotton hanging from her t-shirt. Harper smiled like that of a Chester cat, hiding her face within her pillow. Dani lightly smacked her leg where she sat near the end of the bed. "Come on, tell me." She pleaded.
"He's just...everything." Harper confessed as she turned onto her back staring up towards the ceiling.
"Wow." Dani snickered. "Sloppy or what?"
Harper frowned rolling her eyes, then sighing she added. "Dani, I love him."
"Well as long as he keeps his word and doesn't hurt you, then me and him won't have a problem will we?" She smirked. Harper sat up holding her legs to her chest. "I was nervous at first."
"For what?" Dani asked.
"You know what." Harper muttered, her cheeks faintly taking upon the colour of red.
"Oh, right." Dani said. "But it was great, right?"
Harper softly sighed. "He made me feel special. I felt so confident, he makes me feel confident." She confessed.
"Way to make me jealous." Dani joked nudging her shoulder. "Oh come here." She added bringing Harper into a hug. Harper couldn't find a reason not to want to love him. James Brewer had captured her heart.
Present
Harper headed into reception, glee upon her face as she headed towards the lifts. Elliot was amongst the gathering waiting for the approach of the lift. Harper jumped beside him smiling, his frame towering above her. "Hey." She smiled.
"Morning." He smiled back. "Someone looks happy." Harper couldn't deny that at all, in fact it was the reason because she knew this morning that instead of dreading work, she would be anticipating the opportunity to see James.
"Here." Harper said, offering a piece of paper she had taken from her bag to pass it over to Elliot. Elliot frowned. "What's this?"
"Instead of asking me. Why don't you take a look?" Harper smirked as they headed into the lift. Elliot unscrambled the piece of paper taking his time to inspect with whatever was upon the paper.
"It's a number." He pointed out.
"Yes. It is. Try ringing it later. Trust me you'll thank me for it later." Then pushing gently onto his back, he continued to still frown as he walked out onto his floor. Harper shook her head smiling to herself as the doors soon began to close heading for the top floor.
Her heart was racing, her knees trembled and her breath hitched as she stepped out the lift. All she wanted to do was race into his office, wrap her arms around him and feel his lips against hers. Instead she took a deep breath and remained loyal to her professionalism and headed for her desk. If so, she would make him come to her. Harper couldn't keep still, every now and then she swapped legs on which should cross over or even how she nervously tapped upon the keyboard, inconsistently getting her words wrong upon the document. It was hard to concentrate. When was he coming out? Should she make the first move? Would she act oblivious to when he leaves kisses upon her neck, nibbles at her earlobe? Harper kept glancing at the time, wondering when he would walk out that office.
James took another look at the photo then meeting Katherine's eyes he proclaimed. "No, it was just a silly fling. Like all of you were." Katherine's lips curled at the ends. She stood up walking around his desk before sitting at the end not far from James.
"Is that so?" She asked.
"Yes. Now delete it. Get rid." He said.
"I didn't quite catch what you said before. I mean, I knew instantly where I had seen her before. For starters she's your PA and if I am correct, I recall seeing her on your phone's wallpaper that once. Prove it to me. Before I decide to send this instantly." She challenged.
Sweat rested upon his forehead. James bit his tongue watching as Katherine pursed her lips slowly leaning forward. She moved her hands upon the desk, if it was to move documents or generally agitate him more.
"I'm waiting..." She sang.
Harper continued to type, slightly getting a bit dishearten that James hadn't made an appearance as such yet but she didn't allow that to put herself down yet. Perhaps he was on the phone? Maybe he wasn't even in his office? Harper smiled to reassure herself. If he didn't show his face soon, she would go in there herself. Perhaps he was waiting for her to make the move?
The rich sound of beeping emitting from the intercom alerted Harper instantly. She was unable to keep the smile of her face as she rolled her eyes. Is that how he was playing she thought to herself.
Harper pressed the button to connect to the call.
"It was a fling. She's just a stupid, silly girl. I just wanted to f**k her, nothing more. You think she had chance with me? I told you Katherine, I will never change. I am good at what I do. I get any woman I want. F**k it, she was just a naïve little girl, easy to get to. I was f**king Taylor even before. Don't make me laugh. It was nothing. A game I always win."
