Train station
( Short description of a busy train station )
The hum of chatter buzzed through the busy train station, flittering over heads and tangling with clouded breaths. Brightly coloured posters clung to dull bricked walls, mind the gap and stay behind the yellow line they screamed.
The sea grew as each train came surging through the platform and overwhelming the station. The current pulled in the new arrivals pushing them forwards amongst others that struggled against the torrent waves.
A young boy clinging to his mother, an old woman clutching onto her grandkids, a boy in a wheel chair, a girl on crutches. All at mercy of the tide, that pulled back and forth, back and forth, until they were carried out to sea.
The clicks of fingers typing aggressively away on phones, a baby's cry, the embrace of old friends, the seer of heat from a coffee cup dancing along frozen hands.
Silenced by the wails of the incoming tide.
Raindrops pattered along the tracks staining rosy cheeks blue and wiping away rings of laughter that hung in the air ; the shuddering of the arriving train competed against the soft taps of rain.
The squeal of metal grinding to a halt pierced through the stale air, a new instrument forcing its way into the composition, out of place like hitting a wrong note on the piano. The shriek increased drowning out the swirl of chatter and the thud, thud of a hundred hearts that beat together.
The rain stopped.
