"Birds flyin' high you know how I feel,
Sun in the sky... "

I waved my arms in the air, from side to side, in time with the rhythm. With my hair blowing freely in the breeze behind me, I knew nothing, not even the piles of laundry which I have left behind, the thought of my parents telling eyes of me to be more reserved, or even my usual doubting self, could have stopped me from enjoying my freedom I'd earned. In this retro red classic 450SL, I felt on top of the world; on the verge of a 90's child post-examination rebellion.

I stopped for a moment and let Kasida take the lead, "... Breeze driftin' on by you know how I feel", but join her again and sing in unison, "It's a new dawn, its a new day, its a new life for me yeah, it's a new dawn its a new day it's a new life for me ooooooooh."
I sing in harmony with my partner in crime on this journey of self-discovery I had just acknowledged we would be going on.

I looked over at Kasida's dirty blond-streaked hair flowing in the wind, the sun created a quaint silhouette of her face. I traced from the peak of her hair, down past her slanted eyes, the bridge of her angular nose, and stopped at the crest of her septum. Not that I found her attractive, personally, but I stared as I was jealous that she'd always been able to experience the wondrous feeling of freedom. Her face was at ease, she was in her element.

She caught my glance before I was able to turn away and she smiled her casual, cute smile. She turned to face the road, lifted and shook her head backwards. She pursed her lips together to a pout before pulling down her Metallica rimmed Ray-Bans. The lens tint reflected the same as the sunset; an ephemeral blue yellow glow.

I smiled back and my thoughts returned to the tune on the Spotify Radio and looked out the open top convertible. Road-tripping with my best friend was going to be an incredible experience.

I knew it would be.
