In a distant land...

There was once a young girl who dreamt of going up in the stars. The young girl stayed up every night to see the stars come out and twinkle at her, smiling. She knew the stars had ears to hear. In the land she lived in, it was common knowledge that if you spend time alone looking at the stars, they would listen to you, share their wisdom—or even give you a wish.

The young girl found it fascinating. The stars had been her only companion for years. The girl was incredibly lonely. Making friends was difficult, and she found it much easier to convey her emotions in methods other than words. Emotions, however, the girl could find indubitably explained by looking upon the art of the stars hung in the night sky.

The solution that she came up with was going outside every clear night. She marveled at the sky above her, and she wished that a star would come down to her—to be her friend.

The stars up above, twinkling so bright, could tell her wish was genuine. Her earnestness was apparent to them all. One star decided to take the risk, being completely aware what would happen if they went. The star adamantly decided to do it, knowing it was what the young girl wanted.

The next night, the girl went outside to lie on the grass. Her eyes shined in wonder of the sky, as she did every night. And then, she saw it. In the midnight sky, a glowing star began falling into the direction that seemed towards her.

Her only thoughts were for the star to come to her side.

And so the star went, twinkling, leaving a shimmering trail behind it. Eventually, it landed on the grass next to her. But the image of her star friend was not what she had hoped.

By the time the star reached the grass, it looked not much more than a piece of coal. The young girl's eyes began to water uncontrollably, blurring her vision.

The girl wept and wept. She felt as if her desire was selfish, especially after not knowing how coming down to the earth would destroy the beautiful star.

The girl then fell asleep, staring up at the sky, weeping tears.

When she awoke, she was confused. The girl was not in her regular home with its' cozy surroundings. She was... up in the sky.

Looking at herself, she realizes she was entirely made up of stars—a constellation.

In her head, she heard the words, "We're sorry we couldn't stay down in the earth with you—but you can stay with us infinitely, in the sky."

The girl stayed in the galaxy forever. She was the happiest she could have been. Frolicking on the planets, seeing strange entities, and the best part—not having to be lonely.

The constellation was found a few months later. People observed it, and thought it looked like a girl looking up at the stars. Therefore, it was dubbed, "The Girl With A Dream".

She lived happily ever after. The end.
