Satire

This is satire based on fanfics where the Reader's selling point is being a kind person. Constant POV changes for chaotic energy (if I finished it, that is), as this is a purely experimental project.

Soleis

Our protagonist slowly finds themself meeting new people when they go outside every day for a week. During a stroll, they find a hidden garden. Along with it, a friend.

I, (Y/n), am an average person. My grades are average, my job is average, and my looks are average (but on the rare better days, I find myself attractive).

What sets me apart from others is my kindness. While I am not a pushover, and will never be, I am someone who will lend not one, but both ears. My words have the intention of showing the receiver their value.

Most of the time, it works pretty well. But right now, not so much. I'm at the point of my life where I realized...

I have no social life!

-

Our kind protagonist begins the day like most others do.

Absolute refusal.

However, today they had a plan. They refused to accept that life would be spent friendless. They longed for a true connection to someone, a connection where both parties perceived themselves to be better in all aspects— especially emotional and mental.

Seems like a long shot, does it not?

Yet (Y/n) was adamant. Even if the friendship was not as deep as they desired, any friendship would do. They were getting desperate. Just a little.

Desperate enough to be awake and ready for a new day before the sun had opened her eyes.

(Y/n) left with very few belongings. Thankfully, their pants had subtle pockets that could fit the necessities: a phone, some dicoins, and chapstick.

It was a beautiful day. Spring always brought out the most vibrant of flowers. There was a slight bite in the air— the remainder of last night's chilliness.

(Y/n) stopped by the café a block past their apartment. A few pleasantries and 3 dicoins later, they left with a drink in hand.

Concrete reacted with each step (Y/n) took.

The footfalls faded away. (Y/n) stood and wondered.

"Where was I even going?..."

Characteristically clumsy, the fact stood that there was no set destination. Did they think that just by going outside, everything would fall into place? This was not possible. At least, not for them.

The sun started to open her eyes and glanced over the horizon. She was not up yet, but it was only a matter of time.

White numbers blinked on (Y/n)'s phone.

06:47.

A wave of nausea overcame (Y/n) when they realized how early they woke up. Walking outside for a little over 30 minutes? Unheard of.

They yawn, sleepiness remaining stagnant. There was no choice but to push through. More than anything, our protagonist was dead set on making a friend.

After a quick search online, they found a nearby park.

If only it was like the movies where the MC would find a hidden space, occupied but none but one person. And such would begin a friendship deeper than any ocean...

But today, (Y/n) would resort to a search engine instead of their own intuition. Perhaps another time.

Written 24-25 December in about 4-5 hours. I never got to finish the chapter. At the time (literally midnight on Christmas Day), I thought the concept would be hilarious. Maybe if I got more of it done and showed all the shenanigans, it would have been. Think OHSHC gags, that was the kind of energy it was going to have.
