Rab ne bana di jodi!!
This will be a pure punjabi sikh wedding. As it is held in PINDS of punjab. When i wrote "arranged " many of u asked about the rituals so here you go.
~•*•~
Marriage is a blissful relation in anyone's life which not only binds the couple but their families in a pure and pious bond.
The village of saahnewaal in punjab was witnessing union of two families. The ladkewalaas were there to see the the bride.
Kishore: ankit sanyukta nu le aa chetti...
(Ankit bring sanyukta fast)
A: hune laaya...
(Bringing)
He scooted upstairs to bring his baby sister who grew up so fast that he couldn't believe that she will be getting married now. Obviously he didn't want her to go far from him like really far as she will be going to canada after her wedding.
A: sanyu tu taiyaar aa.
(Sanyu r u ready?)
S: veer ji mainu bahut darr lag reya hai.
( m really sacred bhaiyya)
A: o thalle jede baithe ne uut ni ae jede khaa jaana hai o na ne tainu.
( they are not monsters who'll eat you)
She glared him while he chuckled nd hugged her lightly giving her his blessings.
Sanyu was brought down and she looked at everyone present. Taking the aashirwaad from all the elders she sat beside the boy.
Renuka: te ae hai sadde randhir di hon wali votti. Badi soni hai ji.
( so she is Randhir's would-be-wife. You are really beautiful)
Sanyu looked at randhir from corner of his eyes and he winked at her. Her eyes widened and she twisted her lips.
Re: tusi dona nu jedi vi gall karni aa utte jaa ke karlo.
( go upstairs and ask whatever u want to ask from each other)
They both nodded their heads and went upstairs.
As soon as sanyu closed the door Randhir faced her and grinned eye to eye.
S: kis gal picche hasi aa ri ae aini??
( why are you laughing?)
She stomped her foot.
Rd: thand rakh te paani pee. Ho te reha hai rishta. Hun te khush ho ja.
( chill and drink water. We are getting married na)
S: huhh... Ik vaar ghar aan do mainu batavangi acchi tarah thand rakhna kinnu kainde ne.
( let me come to ur home once I'll tell u what chill means)
Yes Randhir and Sanyukta knew each other and wanted to get married. They were family friends. But his family shifted to canada 11 yrs ago. Though this didn't hamper their friendship which grew into immense love over years.
They were called down putting a halt to their convo.
The date was fixed to be that after two weeks but the functions will be starting in a week. According to their parents it was an arranged marriage but no one knew it actually was a love marriage.
That one week went in shopping. Groom and bride did their shopping together.
The functions started from the next week. Sanyu nd Randhir were kept busy.
On the bride's side the functions were more were more prominent as their only daughter would be going far from them.
It was their sagai and Randhir 's family welcomed her family whole heartedly. They were staying in their old house. The gifts got exchanged.
Randhir getting some lone time with her took her to the terrace.
S: paagal taan ni ho gye? Koi vekh lega.
(Are u mad. Someone will see us)
Rd: shhh...tere liye kuch layaa va
(I have brought something for u)
He took out a platinum bracelet and tied it around her wrist.
Rd: pasand aaya?
She did was only hug him tight and whisper a thank you.
They departed from their house and one more day got lessen in her seperation from her family.
The mehendi colour determines how much ur husband will love u. Isn't it? This is supposed to be the bride's favourite ceremony. Mixed with some melodies in sangeet by the ladies.
Sanyukta's legs and hands adorned the perfect hue of henna. The teasing by her cousins and relatives started.
Aunty1: sadda jawai tainu lagda bahut pyaar krega...
( our son in law will love you the most)
The aunty and uncles and all the relatives started laughing while she blushed and looked at the floor.
The sangeet ceremony started with ladies playing the dholak. Teasing their husbands in the song. Teasing the sasurals in their song and their in laws.
The sangeet and mehendi ended on a happy note. All retired to their rooms to welcome the JAGGO NIGHT which was that night itself. The family members of the brides get together. An elderly lady takes a stick in her hand and men take a matka on their heads. They set out in the village and wakes up everybody at night as it was their daughters last night at her home and time to celebrate. They go on singing and dancing in the aangans of their neighbourhood house.
Lady: dekho bhaii jaggo aiyaan
( see the jaggo came at your doorstep)
They went on singing the whole night.
The eventful night ended and sun rose alarming the couple of their union. It was the d day the marriage day.
They weren't even allowed to converse on phone and their phones were taken. It wasn't considered good by the elders.
Haldi ceremony was going to take place on both the sides.
The stage was set up. Four diyas were lit up at four corners and in the middle the bride and groom would be sitting at their respective homes. It is said that diyas shouldn't be let off before the completion of the ceremony so the elder ladies need to fill up each time the oil reduces. This is supposed to give a
different glow on their faces.
Randhir so wanted to rush to sanyukta and save her from that turmeric paste as he knew she dislikes it to the core and would start throwing up. He remembered their moments spent together years ago but what he did not know is that his sanyu changed into a lady who could take up anything for her love even that turmeric paste.
It wasn't complete as they can only wash their haldis with the water brought by their bhabhis from the nearby temple in a matka. The GHAROLI CEREMONY started.
Ankit's wife vidushi held the matki on her head and all headed towards the temple dancing with the dhol walas.
Randhir didn't have a bhabhi so his chachi did it for him.
They got rid of the sticky paste.
The mahurat for their ANAND KARAJ (pheras in a gurudwara) was of 12:30 pm.
After the haldi sanyu's maam and maami adorned her wrist with red chura and gave her the shagun.
She got dressed up in a heavy red lehenga.
Her sisters and cousins came with the KALEERA to tie in her chura.
There was a ritual that the bride shakes the kaleera on the head of unmarried girls and if the kaleera falls on someone's head then agla number shaadi ka uska.
Sanyu did the same but unfortunately no one got it.
Randhir on the other hand was decked up in a royal sherwani and his cousins tied the sehera on his head carrying a talwaar with him to shoo away any negativity.
The baraat came to the gurudwara dancing with the beats of dholak and the groom on the horse.
They met at the gurudwara and the ANAND KARAJ rasam started.
They took the pheras around the holy guru granth sahib vowing to be with each other for life and beyond.
They all ate the lunch in the hall of the gurudwara.
Soon the bidaai time came. It was supposedly the toughest for a girl.
Sanyu was crying hugging her father.
Her mother came with a plate of rice to throw over head which symbolises that the girl on leaving her home blesses the family with prosperity and luck.
Anju took those grains in her jholi.
Randhir held her by her shoulders and whispered " main han tere naal plss ro naa mainu vi aa jana ae rona"
(M with u plss don't cry or else i will also start crying)
He made a puppy face pouting.
She giggled and her parents adored the duo.
They headed to their decorated BMW and sat inside to go to their happy abode and welcome a new life waiting for them to get cherished together.

How was it??
This is supposed to be a sikh wedding staring from rokka to bidaai.
I have penned every ritual. And its the reality that groom nd the bride aren't allowed to meet or talk a lot during this period. They interact the least during the functions.
So how did you find this os? Do tell me
Byee❤️❤️
