Temi's POV
Mommy had dropped me off at school. It had been a war to get me to come to school today. But, mommy had still managed to bring me.
I walked into the classroom. I breathed out a sigh. It was still the same here. Nothing had changed, the annoying kids were still here.
I stood in front of the classroom, glancing around it, then my eyes stumbled on a pair of eyes staring at me. They belonged to a girl. She had big dark brown eyes with thick and dark lashes. She had a small button-like nose and full lips. Her mouth was slightly open as she stared at me, but I had never seen her before.
'Must be a new student.' I thought.
I walked further into the classroom and past her.
"Hey, Temi. What's up dude?" Joel asked when I got to my seat.
"Nothing much." I answered and we did our customary handshake. Then, I saw Edith walk towards us.
'Olorun mi o. Fè ijògbon òmò de yi'n si.'
"Temi." She chirped and flashed a grin at me and I faked a smile. "Where have you been?" She asked.
"Nowhere exactly." I threw my bag on the desk and the zip clinked on the metal.
"But you didn't come to school all this while. I missed you, Temi." Edith said and I rolled my eyes. I pretended like I was listening and kept nodding my head. "Temi!" Edith called and I turned to look at her. "Are you even listening?" She asked, sounding irritated.
"Huh? What were you saying Edith?" I asked her.
She shook her head, "Arrrgghh." She stomped off angrily.
'Good riddance.'
"Who's the girl sitting with four eyes?" I asked Joel.
"Who?" He asked, looking in the direction I pointed. "Oh. That's the new student. Lela or something like that." He said.
"Oh. Okay."
"So, why were you not in school all this while? It's been two weeks since school's resumption and you've been present only twice abi once sef."
"Oh, that. Well-" I was saying when Mrs Edna, the English mistress entered the classroom.
"Quiet down!" She ordered and everyone settled down and the chattering ceased.
"There's a literature assignment o." He whispered while opening his locker.
"Okay. I'll just copy yours." I whispered back.
"What? You don't even have any of his notes. Why would you copy mine na? What if you score higher." He said in a loud whisper, raising one of his eyebrows.
'Hypocrite.'
"What are friends for?" I asked and he shook his head with a frown.

Lela's POV
It was the short break and Mary, the class rep was collecting the assignments. She was about leaving the classroom with the pile of books in her hands when someone called from behind. It belonged to a male and it was husky. I looked behind to see him-the Temi boy.
"Akamu, won't you take mine?" He asked, stretching out his notebook.
"I would take it if you gave it to me. What were you doing before now?" She snapped at him and snatched the book from his hand and turned to leave.
"You are Lucky I'm in sort of a good mood right now, Akamu." He called out behind her.
He turned around and there was a smirk on his face when he glanced in my direction. He stopped in front of Judith and asked, "Four eyes. How are you?" He was displaying a perfect set of white teeth.
'So handsome.'
Judith was thrown aback by his question. "Huh?"
"I said, how are you?"
"Well, when did you start caring about my well being?" Judith asked. She made a weird face.
He smirked and bent over her. He placed one of his palms on the desk and the other behind her. There was a black wristwatch on his wrist. "Yeah, you are right. I don't."
"Then, why'd you ask?" She asked adjusting her glasses. He glanced over to me and smiled.
"Introduce me to your friend." He grinned. It was an order made in a subtle manner. My heart skipped a beat when he said those words.
"Oh. There isn't any need for that. I think she knows who you are. And, I'd appreciate it if you could just move, you are being so close it feels uncomfortable." Judith told him.
"Oh. My apologies." He said as he stood up, towering over us again.
"So, back to my request." He said.
"What request?" Judith asked. She was playing stupid with him.
"Do you have short term memory loss or what? I just asked you to introduce me to your friend." He said in between his teeth, still trying to keep his smile on.
'Jeez. If he cares so much, he could just ask me. Like, I'm right here not in another classroom.'
"Stop it already," I spoke up when I thought I had had enough. "And you, you want an introduction, right?" I asked Temi, almost at the top of my voice-not like my voice could go higher than it was. I had a small voice but, it was nothing like that of the principal's.
Temi smiled at me, "Yes."
"Well, my name is Lela Adams. Now, can you please leave us alone?"
"Well, Lela, my name is-" He stretched his hand out for a handshake.
"I know who you are, Temitope Ayobami." I cut in, refusing to shake hands with him.
He looked at his hand, smiled and pulled it into his pocket.
"I see. They've told you things about me already. No problem." He shrugged his shoulders.
'Why was he being so polite? He's supposed to be a bully, rude and all that.' I thought.
"Do enjoy your stay here." He said as he walked away.
"He didn't seem much of a bully." I said to Judith.
"Really?" Judith asked sarcastically. "Don't fall for that show, Lela. Temi isn't any good. The mention of his name spells doom." Judith warned and I shrugged my shoulders.
"What happened Judith? What did Temi want?" I heard Huoma ask. I didn't notice when she came to our seat.
"Nothing important. Don't mind that boy."
"Hey, hey you." I heard someone call beside me. I turned to my left to see Edith. She stood there with her legs slightly apart and her hands crossed on her chest and was shooting daggers at me with her eyes. As usual, her pullover was tied on her waist and today, she had a red headband placed on her head.
"Hi." I said, with my most friendliest of smiles, but kept glaring and it made uncomfortable. I couldn't remember myself having a quarrel with her and I wondered why she was angry.
"What were you and Temi talking about?" she snapped.
"Huh?" Was the only thing I could say.
"Don't act stupid with me. I saw the two of you talking." She argued.
'What was wrong with this girl?'
"They weren't talking to each other, Edith." Judith cut in.
"I can't remember speaking to you, four eyes." Edith snapped at her.
"Whatever. Can't you find something else to do apart from following Temi everywhere and poking your nose into his business?" Judith asked with a mocking tone. I looked from Judith to Edith.
"How dare you speak to me like that, four eyes? Tsk tsk tsk. Not to worry. I'll deal with you later. And as for you," She turned to face me.
"Stay away from Temi. It's a warning." And with that she stomped off.
'And to think I wanted to be friends with her.'
"You heard her. Stay away from Temi o." Huoma said as she walked back to her seat.
"But, I'm not doing anything with him." I said in my defense. I felt like screaming out loud and pulling my hair. The whole class started to stare.
'Arrrgghh. This is the most embarrassing day of my life. What was wrong with everyone? Stay away from Temi. Was I with the guy? I didn't even know him.'
"I did tell you that the mere name of that boy spells doom." Judith said.
"But, I didn't do anything wrong. Why don't you guys see that? And, who is Edith to Temi by the way?" I was curious about the way she acted.
"Isn't it obvious? She's his girlfriend."
