SUMMARY!

It was as simple as that: a vintage, red leather bound, 695 page, gold embellished edition of 'Poems of Byron, Keats and Shelley' left in the back of the Potions room, waiting to be found. SIRIUS BLACK picked it up, no knowing what it was ( but knowing it definitely wasn't a potions textbook ), but curious. He skimmed it, found most of it to be rubbish, but kept the book anyway.

That book was most definitely not waiting to be found. A frantic IVY GOLDSTEIN was searching everywhere for it ( because it was her father's favorite book and he would be furious if she didn't return it home at the end of the term ). She remembered that she had left it in the potions room and ( thankfully ) Professor Slughorn never really looked in the back of the classroom, so there was a good shot that it was still there. But, upon her ( practically ) sprinting there, she found that it was missing. 

After what seemed like years of asking around ( which was really just a couple of weeks ), Ivy gives it a good cry and declares it missing, never to be found. Life carries on without her treasured book of poetry and she dreads going back home to her furious father ( who she still hasn't told, so his wrath will probably be tenfold ). 

Sirius, however, is enjoying this book and not for the poetry ( though he does find some of it enjoyable ), but for the writing in the margins. In elegant handwriting are thoughts, both related and unrelated to the poem on the page, little bits of past Hogwarts gossip, criticisms of the text ( mostly calling John Keats 'dramatic' and 'silly' ), and, of course, the little hearts next to the owner's favorite lines. The only problem is, there's no name in the book and for the life of him, Sirius can't recognize the handwriting, but the longer he stares at it, the more he becomes infatuated. 

One fateful afternoon in potions class, he decides to write to said owner ( who also seems to share a seat with him ) in the margins of the poem that they have bookmarked with the little red ribbon and leave it, neatly, at their seat. Perhaps, they'll respond.

𝐢. Ivy's a muggleborn

𝐢𝐢. She can be in any house you please, just not Gryffindor ( for obvious reasons )

𝐢𝐢𝐢. Her and Sirius sit in the same seat during potions, but during different periods 

𝐢𝐯. Ok I have this really cute idea where it doesn't have her name in the book, but it does, as in she draws little vines of ivy along a couple of the pages

𝐯𝐢. She has a very good relationship with both of her parents ( and they're both intellectuals ). password is your favorite writer

𝐢𝐱. Her future occupation would be the Astronomy Professor at Hogwarts 

𝐱. Sirius & Co don't figure it out for a while because Ivy is not really on their radar 

𝐱𝐢. On the note of Sirius - he's a pansexual ( I mean obviously ) and so he doesn't assign a gender to the person writing to him, he just falls in love anyway

𝐱𝐢𝐢. I also have this headcanon that Sirius's handwriting is the neatest thing you've ever seen ( like he grew up as apart of the Black family, come on ). So, if you want, he could write in perfect cursive
