SUMMARY!

ROSE SELWYN is everything that Fred Weasley is not. Quiet, intelligent, put together and kind. She has big ambitions for the world and wants to make it a better place -- using her blood status to do so. She knows how to get what she wants, but not through the nasty kind of manipulation, but through genuine kindness and getting people to like her before she asks for anything. 

School is Rose Selwyn's life, something that doesn't really mix well with being best friends with Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Something that also doesn't mix well with that is Rose's affinity for the rules ( though, she will agree, that some rules are meant to be broken ). 

FRED WEASLEY, if we're being honest, is a hot mess. He's getting restless at school ( especially with this god awful new Defense teacher ) and is considering talking to George about dipping, permanently. And it doesn't help that his brother's quiet best friend is judging him from afar ( he'll swear on his life that she is, because after all, Fred knows that she's not as kind as she wants everyone to believe ). 

Rose doesn't hate Fred Weasley. She reserves all the hate she has in her body for Lucius Malfoy and her various plans to kill, maim or get him out of power. But, she does not like Fred's childish behavior, though she would never say it to his face ( well, unless he asked ). She doesn't understand how someone would want to throw away Hogwarts, like come on, it's so cool!

Fred Weasley hates Rose Selwyn. He thinks she's a stiff who doesn't care about joy other than some pleasure she derives from school books and O's on papers. Worst of all, she's best friends with his brother, which means that they have to spend the holidays together. 

However, one fated afternoon, Fred Weasley enters the detention room to find his brother asleep and Rose Selwyn, herself, sitting two desks across from George.
