Part Three~
A few days passed and Tauriel came to check on the girl. "Is she well enough to visit the King?" She asked.
"I believe so." The healer responded. Tauriel called for two guards. The gurards untied the girl and grabbed both her arms. With Tauriel at their head, they made their way to the king.
The young human shuddered inside at having to see the icy king. His very gaze seemed to pierce her soul and it frightened her, although she would never admit it out loud.
Every single time she was released from her bonds, she struggled. She had no intention of giving up or submitting. Eventually the guards got fed up with it and one struck her.
Tauriel spun around, hearing the girl's cry of pain, and glared at the guard who had done it. "Do not strike her again." She commanded with absolute authority. The guard lowered his head, ashamed. Tauriel gave a slight smile, before it faded and she continued walking.
Hesitantly, the guard looked back up, "I'm sorry my lady, but I was just sick of her struggling." He glared at the prisoner, "I...I just don't understand why we don't just throw her in the dungeon...she did almost kill Arìon. It doesn't seem to me that we should even heal her wound."
"We want information." She told him. "That is the only reason."
"But she injured one of our own!" He insisted.
"Tell that to King Thranduil." She told him. The guard was silent and kept walking.
Eventually they came before the throne of Thranduil. "My lord, you wished to see the girl." Tauriel asked.
The guards brought their prisoner forward and dropped her, unceremoniously unto the marble floor. A small cry escaped her lips before it could be stopped. She grimaced in anger and pain.
"I assume you remember our last meeting." The King didn't actually expect an answer. "I wish to finish it. Now, what were you doing in Mirkwood?"
She glared up at the king, "I was just traveling through."
"What is your name?" He asked curtly, his eyes boring into her.
"Um..." She struggled to remember what she had told the healer.
Tauriel was silent, wondering if she would say something different than what she told the healer.
"It's Màrion. Can I go now?" The human answered.
Tauriel immediately said something. "My lord," she objected, "she had said her name was Arilëne to the healer." The girl jerked her head angrily towards Tauriel, realizing her mistake. Tauriel smiled slightly.
Thranduil lifted an eyebrow. "Is that so. Interesting. What is it really now?"
"None of your business." The girl huffed. She couldn't believe her mistake!
"Actually it is. Also, I can't believe you were in the woods for nothing. You happened to be by my warriors fighting spiders and then ran away once the spiders were dead. You can hardly expect me to believe that it's none of my business."
The human sighed in defeat, "Fine. My name is Faelwen and I was just. Passing. Through." She repeated.
"And how, Faelwen, do you expect me to believe that you were just passing through?" The king asked.
"Well I told you my name, didn't I?" Faelwen started to feel her hopes rise, thinking that the king possibly forgot about her little incident with the elf.
"That's why I have to be more careful. I still have to punish you, however, for stabbing the guard." Replied Thranduil.
Faelwen swallowed the lump that suddenly formed in her throat, "Um...well I don't think that is fair because one of your stupid elves also hurt me." She pointed out. "It was just self defense.
"And he was just doing what he was supposed to." Replied the king.
"Whatever..." She looked away, suddenly tired.
Suddenly, a healer ran into the room. She bowed curtly and addressed the king, "I'm sorry, my lord, for interrupting, but I was just with Arìon, the one she hurt," the healer sent a hateful glare towards Faelwen, "and...well he has just passed away. The strike punctured his stomach, my lord." She finished, her lip trembling slightly.
Tauriel gaped. She had always thought that, though the wound was bad, he would make it. Tears sprang to her eyes. Hatred ran through her towards Faelwen. The girls deserved to die for this. Filled with a sudden impulse, she punched the girl in the stomach. "How does that feel?" She asked angrily. "The worst torture cannot make up for what you have done." She glared icily at Faelwen, then stalked away.
The king looked angrily at Faelwen. "I have one question left for you, then off to the dungeons!" Thranduil got up and walked down the steps toward the girl. "Where do you come from?!" He demanded.
Faelwen looked horror stricken, she had never meant for him to die! She didn't move for moment, but snapped out of it, "I...I have no home." She stuttered.
"I'm sorry for you!" He exploded. "Send for Tauriel. And hurry!" The healer had never seen the King this mad.
"Please, just let me go." She practically begged.
The king practically lost his temper. "No! You will be punished for your crime! And since you have no King, I can do the punishing!"
"What crime? It was an accident!" Faelwen shouted back.
The King calmed down. "You still did it." Thranduil yelled suddenly, "Tauriel!"
Tauriel was already gone. She was in the forest with her bow and arrow, not hunting, but just wandering in her grief.
Crÿthian ran out of the gates after hearing the Kings order for Tauriel before him. "Tauriel!" She called. When hearing no reply, she ran through the woods until she found her. "Tauriel! The king has commanded you come before him! He is in a terrible rage, so you might want to hurry!" With that, Crÿthian ran back to the woodland realm.
Tauriel glared at Crÿthian's back. She knew it was not her fault that the king had called her, but she hated the king's orders. Tauriel slowly walked back to her home. She entered through the gates and headed to the king.
An old friend, Melhonin intercepted her. "Tauriel." He said softly, "I am sorry for your loss."
Tauriel fought to keep the tears back.
"Thank you." She whispered before walking away.
After a short hike, Tauriel came to Thranduil's throne. "My lord?" She asked, "Cÿrthian said you sent for me."
The King looked flustered. "Why didn't you come sooner?" He demanded. "Never mind. Take this filth," pointing to Faelwen, "to the dungeons!"
Tauriel bowed her head. "Yes, my Lord." 'Why couldn't he have asked someone else?' She demanded angrily in her head. She grabbed Faelwen, dragged her to a cell, threw her in it, and closed and locked the door.
Faelwen struggled the whole way, but once the door was shut, she relaxed. She knew it was no use to try and escape, Elven dungeons were incredibly sturdy.
Tauriel left and reported to Thranduil.
"Is there anything else, my lord?" She asked.
"Is the prisoner secured soundly?" Inquired a still glowering Thranduil.
Tauriel nodded, "Yes."
"Then you may go." Replied Thranduil.
