A New Duty, Heroes vs Machine!
(Third-Person P.O.V)
As Carter slowly began to open his eyes, he soon found himself back in his old room and he was human again. At first, he assumed that it was all just a dream but when he looked over to the desk he noticed the Digits Ridewatch laying there.
Carter: *confused tone* What's going on here?
???: Take it easy there, you're just passed out. The queen's having you rest at the moment, so I took my time to contact you in your subconscious or dream state if you will.
As Carter looked around, his eyes soon found them making contact with the mysterious Unknown.
Unknown: Glad to see you aren't dead, Carter.
Carter: Wait what?
Unknown: *realization* Oh right! I suppose that I should have explained this before I gave you the driver. A Teoran's body isn't used to transforming into Kamen Riders as much as humans, it doesn't mean you can't transforms though.
Carter: *confused tone* Then what does that mean?
Unknown: You'll need more time to adjust to your new body so you can manage to maintain more stronger tranformations. The more you've adapted to your new body, the less exhaustion you'll feel from higher-tier Armor forms.
Carter: So... how is my current endurance to Rider transformations?
Unknown: As of right now? *taps her head while thinking* If I had to take a guess-mate of how long you can last right now, I would say for the basic Armor Time... about 25 minutes at max.
Carter: Only twenty-five?
Unknown: Afraid so. As you've only been a Teoran for a day, you've barely had any time adjust to your new physiology. Plus you barely know any skills for element you wield. As such, your body can only handle so much before collapsing like that again and worse if you try with more higher-tier Ridewatches.
Carter: *confused tone* Woah, woah, woah! Wait, higher-tier Ridewatches? You mean I can access other than base Rider Forms of Ridewatches?
Unknown: *wags her finger* Ah, ah, ah! That's as much as I can give for now. You are waking up from this state soon after all.
Carter: Wait, What?!
Unknown: You've got big things coming, "Digits." Best be ready!
Before Carter could ask any further, he was soon blinded by light and falling again before landing on something soft.
(Carter's P.O.V)
As soon as I felt a soft landing, I jumped up as I clasped my palm against my face as I still felt exhausted from my battle against Another Cross-Z. As I began to get a lay of my location, I soon found out I was back in the same guest room that Gwain had given me and Geo except he wasn't present this time.
Carter: *groans, confused tone* What on earth was Unknown talking about?
???: Oh so, you're awake already.
As I got back to my senses, I soon noticed that Gwain was leaning in the doorway.
Carter: Your Majesty. What are you doing here?
Gwain: *enters the room* Ami asked me to check up on you. I was going the ask the guards to do it, but if I'm being honest I actually wanted to discuss something with you.
Carter: *confused tone* What do you mean?
Gwain: You made a claim during your battle against "Another Cross-Z", is that correct?
I was a little nervous as she brought that little tid-bit up in the conversation almost automatically, but... as I did just transform in front of her in the middle of a battle I doubt she would let it slide so easily. Not to mention, that guard's claim that Kamen Riders were here in Teora.
Carter: Umm... Yes?
Gwain: And correct me if I'm wrong, but you also mentioned that you were a "real" Rider. As in... Kamen Rider?
Carter: Yes... *realization* Wait a minute, did you say Kamen Rider? As in, you know about them?
Gwain: *nods* Yes. Their existence has been recorded as far back as to the founding of this very kingdom. A group of armor-cladded heroes that could change into various forms once came to aid our people in time of despair. Some bearing ancient powers and others relying on the technology they possessed. The most vaguest one I could remember was a red rider with a goofy pose and he kept saying something like... "Ore Sanjou!"
Carter: *deadpan face, thinking* "Definitely Den-O. Specifically Momotaros."
Gwain: *sighs* Anyways before my mother, the first queen's passing their leader gave them these strange devices which they called Ridewatches. At the time, we didn't know much about them only that the so-called leader as well as allies with similar "drivers" as they called them could wield these devices. They had powers and forms unlike any Teoran that has ever been seen. At the time, they "were" the ones who dealt with these "Another Riders", however their only claims as to why they left was that their time in this world was "limited."
Carter: *confused tone* Wait... How do you know so much about that?
Gwain: Simple. I was there with my mother and my sister at the time. Before they left, their leader entrusted us with these Ridewatches. More specifically, what we nicknamed The Heisei Twenty after the heroes who fought alongside us. We kept them safe for as long as we could even after my mother's passing and when I took up the role as queen..., however after a month I taken up my duty... something happened that we couldn't predict.
Carter: *confused tone* What happened to them?
Gwain: *deeps breath, stern tone* That's not important, I just simply answered a question of yours. Now I have two things I would like to discuss with you. *her eyes then begin to glow, glares* And I would apricate if you didn't lie to me on what I would like to talk about first.
I then felt a little nervous at her glowing glare. I knew that Gwain possessed a light element and she could use it in a few various attacks, but I wasn't sure if that was her "only" power. Still I had already gotten this far and I wasn't thrown in the dungeon or executed so... a bit of a silver lining there.
Carter: *deep breath* Alright, Your Majesty. Ask away.
Gwain: *nods* Good. *pulls out the Digits Ridewatch* First off, you can start by explaining to me where you found this Ridewatch. I know you didn't take it from here since I haven't seen one like it.
Carter: It was given to me... by a Teoran. I don't know much about her, only that she had red hair and eyes and goes by the codename, Unknown.
Gwain: Unknown?... I don't think that I'm familiar with a person like that. *her eyes stop glowing* Alright with that out of the way, I have a proposition for you.
Carter: *confused tone* A proposition? What kind of proposition?
Gwain then sat down on my bed beside me with her arms crossed.
Gwain: Listen, This is the deal... I'll allow you to continue with dealing the Another Riders, but in return I would like you and another person to be Ami's Personal Bodyguards. You two will keep her safe and accompany her outside of the castle.
Carter: And... should anything happens to her?
Gwain: *glares* Then I will know. For the other person, they will suffer the death penalty. As for you, should anything happen to Ami if circumstances were beyond your control, you will go unpunished... But should something happen to Ami and there was something you could do about it you will be imprisoned for ten moon lengths or twenty-five years give-or-take.
I then felt even more nervous. Twenty-five years?! I wasn't sure whether or not if I should take the job or not, but I did know that she would likely be able to help me keep this on the down-low for the time being.
Gwain: Oh and don't worry, this is optional for you. Should you chose to not agree, I will not hold this against you.
Carter: Actually... I think I'm actually plaining to accept your offer.
Gwain: Well I suppose that it can't be- *realization, surprised tone* Wait, what?
Carter: I'm accepting your offer.
Gwain: Really? I thought for sure you would refuse. Ami can be quite a handful and since "he" will be helping you, it would likely be difficult for you.
Carter: *thinking* "He? Is she talking about Geo?" *shakes head* I know. It will likely be a difficult road for me for being a bodyguard, but I feel like I "should" help. Not just as someone helping a friend, but as a Kamen Rider I feel it's part of my duty to protect the very people around me. If I can't protect a friend, then how would I be able to fulfill that duty?
Gwain: *shows a slight surprise face before smirking* Heh. I honestly wasn't expecting an answer like that. Very well. By the authority invested by me as the Queen of Gwain, I hereby assign you the duty of the Princess' Bodyguard. *groans* Now I have to deal with the "other one."
Carter: *gets up* I should come with you. You seem like could use the support.
Without another word, I quickly got dressed before meeting up with Ami and Geo, who had already woken up. I felt like my presence in the room, kind of gave of a peaceful vibe which would explain why Gwain was a little calmer in her stern and stoic attitude against Geo. She repeated the same duty she had given me, but added that she had gotten Geo a Golem Ring which adjusted his personal gravity so he wouldn't be so heavy, but if he closed his hand he'd return to his original weight.
"How would I know that?" Because he actually did it at top Ami's bed he was siting on as it's frame gave way. This made things in the room a little bit more difficult in Gwain's eyes as she groans in response, however the silver lining to this was she let us go out to the town as long as we didn't draw attention to ourselves... Unfortunately stealth wasn't in Ami's vocabulary as when we went into town both she and Geo were in disguise, but her attempt to try and be stealthy wasn't very... good to say the least.
We had already arrived in town as I managed to see the lively streets of this city's market and I could see so many Teorans. So many with different elements compared to my own, but as much as I would like to learn more about them, my duty came first.
Carter: *looks at Ami* Don't you think that this is being the opposite of what you were told?
She did disagree with me a little bit, but then again it would be bad if I talked with her about that. As we continued to walk around town I thought that we wouldn't be spotted by anyone. Sadly I thought too soon.
???: Princess?
As Ami's mask fell of in surprise, we soon found ourselves encountering a Teoran with long burnet hair, brown eyes, a brown dress, white ankle-length stockings, black shoes and a cute fur hat carrying a bag of flower.
???: What are you doing here? This should be dangerous for you. How did they let you out of the castle?
In response, Ami presented us as her bodyguards and surprising this mysterious Teoran who we just met, but knew Ami.
???: It's nice to meet you, Mr. Bodyguards, my name is Lanney. I appreciate the two of you taking care of the princess. *bows* I know you two will do a great job.
Carter: *nods* Of course. It's part of my duty to protect the princess, but I am curious though. How exactly do you two know each other?
Then Ami explained that Lanney is one of her childhood which actually made a bit of sense, but still gave me a few questions to think about.
Carter: *shakes Lanney's hand* Well any friend of Ami is a friend of mine. *realization* Oh right, I don't think we told you our names. I'm Carter and my friend in the Grim Reaper style outfit is Geo.
Lanney: Carter and Geo? I don't think I've ever heard those names before.
Carter: *scratches head* Yeah... I suppose you could say that we're from out of town. So what bring you here?
Lanney: Me? I came to the market to buy flour for tomorrow's bread.
Carter: That sounds really nice. I mean it probably good to have some warm bread once in a while. I bet your a pretty good baker.
Lanney: Oh. Thank you for the compliment. *turns toward Ami* By the way, you should be care, Princess. They said that lately there's been attacks from a mysterious individual.
Carter: *confused tone* A mysterious individual? You mean like a rebel or something like that?
Before Lanney could breath another word, we were interrupted by the sound of a crash. We weren't sure what was going on, but I then felt a reflection of sunlight hit my left eye. I looked up toward the sky to a female figure with an unidentified weapon where her right and left arm should be. I could then see a faint glow from the palm of the weapon, directly aimed at Ami.
Carter: *tackles Ami and Lanney* Get down!
We then heard gun shots from the mysterious woman's weapon. I thought I would have taken a hit or two from the device, but when I looked up I could see that Geo had gotten in the line of fire... before he collapsed to the ground.
Carter: *shocked tone* Geo!
As the mysterious woman landed on the ground, I could feel like she was staring at Ami directly through her helmet. I then quickly stepped in between her line of sight against Ami. As I glared at her, I could tell she meant business. As I was about to tell her to leave Ami alone, I was interrupted by the sound of someone whistling.
Random Knight: Hey! Everyone, chase that rebel. Get him!
Before I could tell them to get back, a large sphere-like robot appeared out of nowhere... which made everyone in the market except us scatter. The robot then turned toward the people, shooting at them. Speaking of shooting, Ami managed to get off a few shots with her bow at our attacker, but she blocked them all off while Lanney hide behind her.
Carter: I don't think that this is gonna be easy, Ami. Maybe you should let me handle this.
As I was about to go and try fight this mysterious foe, she soon found a hand grasping her right ankle. To mine and her surprise, the hand's owner was a stunned Geo. As the woman unload a clip from her weapon and taking aim at Geo, I then quickly rush her with a few barrages of small water sphere but she still managed to block all of them just as easily as Ami's arrows before grabbing me by the head and smashing me onto Geo's back before YEETing us off her robot and into a building's wall. And to tell you the truth, when I hit Geo's back it felt like my skull was being cracked again the hull of a space shuttle.
The two of us then looked down to see both Ami and Lanney about to be either captured or kill by the mysterious woman and her robot.
Carter: *shocked tone* Ami! Lanney! *turns toward Geo* Hey Geo, can you still move?
With a bit of a groan and a nod, I knew he was okay but we need to stop the two of them before any harm came to Ami or Lanney. As the two of us jumped of the building wall, Geo slammed his fist against the roof of the robot while I used a stream of water from both my hands to perform a rocket propelled kick on top of that. Then the ground gave way as both me, Geo, the mysterious woman crashed down into the city's sewer. I managed to land okay, but as for Geo... well he was laying in sewer water with a fish in his mouth.
The two of us tried looking for the mysterious woman down here, but unfortunately she found us before sending us crashing down to the sewer floor. The two of us then tried to tag-team her, but she grabbed Geo and used him to smash his head against my chest on the ground before setting her robot up with us for a combo attack and forcing us to run. In a panic I tried to stop it by using some of my water spheres to short-circuit it, but sadly it was water-proof.
Carter: *thinking* "It's immune to my elemental attacks, but I can't let her hurt Geo or anyone here. I have to do something! I have to!"
As I reached for my Jikan Crosser, I then felt a slight jerk from the robot which sent me flying forward as Geo caught me. As I got my bearings back, I then looked up to see that the sewer water had somehow tethered around the robot before Geo sent it flying with a single punch.
As the robot rolled back to towards the mysterious woman, she then looked towards us and I'm not sure if it was me but it felt like she was just studying our movements and analyzing us.
???: So we have two strong elements from Gwain's Royal Guard. Let's see what you've got.
She then commanded the robot to attack us again, but as it came close I heard a strange beeping sound from the device on Geo's back. As the robot charged at us, we drew our weapons and with our combined strength we slashed the robot in half, both vertically and horizontally.
We thought we had won, but unfortunately for us we didn't take in account the rocket-propelled punch to Geo's face. As I saw him fly back, I then turned to see the mysterious woman holding Geo's sword. I then quickly blocked with my own, trying my best to hold my ground against her.
???: Well, aren't you brave. Thinking you can actually stop me?
Carter: I can't say for sure that I "can", but I will try and when I do I'll be taking back Geo's sword.
???: Oh? You mean the EXE Blade?
Carter: *confused tone* The what?
???: So you don't know about it? *shrugs* Well I suppose it can't be helped. Truth be told I'm not even sure how your friend got this as well as that visor, but it will take more than these tools and a Rider to stop me.
Carter: *shocked tone* What? How'd you know I was a Kamen Rider.
As the two of us split for a moment, she showed me what she was holding in her left hand... "My Ziku Driver!"
???: You should really be more careful with your equipment.
As I was about to attack her and reclaim my gear, her bike raced down into the sewer and stopped right by her side.
???: I'll let you both have this victory, Rider. You can keep these tools for now, but the one who will be victorious in this war... will be me.
The mysterious woman then chucked both my driver and Geo's sword back to us before riding off... I wasn't truly sure what to think of it. Why'd she stop when she had the upper hand against us? Was she testing us? What "war" was she talking about? Not to mention, who even is she?
Carter: *thinking* "Who ever this woman is, she's definitely stronger than me and Geo at our current point. Not to mention, her taste in tech is pretty cool. And that bike of hers... it would make for a great Rider Machine if it wasn't already in use."
Sadly this ultimately caught me off guard when the robot was set to self-destruct. We were caught up in the blast, I was sent flying upward as I landed on solid concreate. I suffered a bit of blast burn, but Ami and Lanney were already present to help patch me up. As for Geo, he survived unscathed from the explosion thanks to his now superhuman durability as he showed Ami the robot's arm. We were glad to be alright, but I think me and him will need a shower after we got back and I think Ami agreed.
As the sun began to set, I felt like I was actually able to help Geo protect Ami from this mysterious foe. She was definitely stronger, but it seemed like she was just toying with us and testing the waters. As we finished up with clean the mess from our previous battle, Lanney thanked us for an exciting day and thought that me, Geo and Ami would make a great team.
Carter: *nods* Yeah. *shakes Lanney hand again* I hope that our paths cross again, you seem like a girl I'd actually like to know a bit better as a friend.
Lanney agreed with that as she waved goodbye as she walk away into the sunset. As she did so, I looked back to Ami and Geo to see the two of them getting along a bit more before my eyes caught glimpse of a familiar silhouette watching us from the town's clock tower. I smiled as the three of us then returned to the castle.
After we got back, the first thing I did was take a shower to wash off all the sewer water and get the scent of sewage of me. Gwain let me stay here in the castle as a means to help keep an eye on Ami as well as Geo. As I was taking my time to clean myself off, my mind started to drift back towards that woman we fought. I was kind of struggling to see a motive behind attacking us and why she would attack Ami? There were plenty of ideas going through my mind as of why she would be doing it, but none of them would add up either.
???: *knocks on the door* Excuse me? Young Master Carter? Your clothes have been cleaned, as you requested.
Carter: *realization* Oh. On my way.
As I put on my towel, I opened the door to encounter one of the maids Gwain had told me about. She had green hair and eyes. As for her uniform, it was standard for a maid. As I thanked her for bring my clothes back and began changing in the bathroom.
???: I heard a great deal from Her Majesty about your battle with a mysterious foe. Was it a little difficult for you and Master Geo to deal with them?
Carter: *confused tone* Huh? A little bit, yeah. The person we fought seemed to have an upper hand, but they let us go after we beat their robot.
???: I see. Were you harmed in any means.
Carter: Yeah, but the Princess was able to help patch up my injuries. Why?
???: Oh, no particular reason.
As I finished getting changed into my sleepwear, I then got the strangest feeling from this maid. I felt like I knew her from some where, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
Carter: *confused tone* So what are you doing here?
???: Queen Gwain wished to discuss something important with you, but for the life of me I can't remember. Well I suppose that it will comeback as long as you can support what happen... "Kamen Rider Digits."
I almost jumped out of my skin when this maid said my Rider name. That's why this maid's aura felt so familiar... It's because she "isn't" a maid at all.
Carter: *curious tone* Unknown? Is that you?
???: *giggles* Was I that obvious?
Carter: *confused tone* What are you doing and why are you dressed up like a maid?
Unknown: To answer your first question, I came here to keep an eye on you properly. Telepathic messages in dreams aren't "always" effective. As for the second question, this is one of my "Appearances" around the kingdom of Gwain. You may know me as Unknown, but as for this appearance I am call Roselle.
Carter: *raises eyebrow* O..kay. *confused tone* Wait, you said "keep an eye on me properly?" Can't you just... ask me to meet up you or something?
Unknown (Roselle): Well... as you are now one of the Royal Bodyguard of Princess Ami, that would be a little difficult for a nobody like "Unknown" to get a chance to chat without getting in trouble with... "other forces." So I used my Royal Maid "Appearance", Roselle to make things a bit easier for me.
Carter: "Other forces?" You mean the Another Riders?
Unknown (Roselle): *shakes head* No... it's a little difficult to explain at the moment, but for now I need you to focus on the Another Riders.
Carter: *confused tone* Okay..., but don't you think that one Rider will be enough to defeat all Twenty Another Riders alone without any of the Legendary Ridewatches?
Unknown (Roselle): Don't worry about the Ridewatch part, I'll handle that. Also you are not alone. You got me, Princess Ami, Her Majesty and Geo. And I believe that they are only just the beginning.
Carter: *nods* Right.
Unknown (Roselle): *realization* Oh right. I remember what Queen Gwain asked me to tell you. She said that you'll be taking part in training to improve you elemental control and abilities.
Carter: *confused tone* Wait what?
Next time on Mirai Gwain Riders!
Unknown: To think that "they" would start appearing already.
???: Geo and Carter, was it? Was say we continue on what we agreed on?
???: You destroyed my future, so I will end your life! Just as you stole mine!
???: *serious tone* Henshin!
