It could be some sort of tutorial to show how the choice system works.

I imagine it something like this:

Petra a begins by introducing herself and the player to the game then giving the player the option of picking which Jesse they want to be.

After picking she goes over how the whole choice option works.

I don't know, I'm just curious and impatient. (And I'm a Steven Universe fan, I know about being impatient)
