UKI HAD BEEN A MIRACLE— FOR WHEN SHE WAS BROUGHT INTO THE WORLD, there was only the cold, harsh wind that even the brightest of flames couldn't conquer. The howling blizzard struck without warning, without the slightest bit of kindness for the Northern Water Tribe. It seemed she would perish before her first moon would grace the midnight sky. But Uki, silent, unlucky Uki did not let the bitter cold defeat her. The ice that tried to harm her from her first breath instead found an unlikely home inside her skin. And when she opened her eyes, just as the storm disolved, she greeted them with orbs like shards of ice. As if she were blessed.

     Destiny had commaned her survival, paved a path to a hopeful fortune and surely a miraculous journey. And as she grew from small girl to a remarkable teenager, it seemed she was blessed with more than the breath of life.

Uki lived after her namesake. For she was profoundly gifted— a sure waterbending prodigy. But it was not customary for women or girls to practise bending like the men did in her tribe. Leaving her to humble artform of healing.

But she is strong and determined like a river, finding ways to strenghten and explore her abilities in the darkness of the night away from prying eyes.

And then the avatar arrived— two Southern Water Tribe kids by his side and it's like destiny is pushing her towards the path she must walk. One filled with unconditional friendship, painful hardships and a love that demands to be felt.

    And Uki will find, survival might be only gifted to her once.
