Twelve - Hormonal Teenagers and Love Do Not Mix

Marinette's POV

I have a mission. I cannot focus on silly relationships. I need to save Paris. I shut off the pain and get on my way.

The rain starts to pour as I trudge through the upcoming storm. Water droplets soak my shorts and my shirt. Well, Adrien's shirt. I guess I'm going to have to give it back. No more spending the night at his place. No more snuggling into his neck and smelling his cologne. No more vampire bites. No more Adrien.

"Hey, Marinette."

I turn around, and see none other than Kagami.

"Is that the rain, or is that tears falling down your cheeks?" She asks, tilting her head.

"Oh, I didn't notice I was crying," I mutter. "I'm fine. You should go home before you get soaked."

"Yeah... no."

I look at her in confusion. "W-what?"

"I'm guessing you already know about Luka being akumatized, correct?" Kagami asks, her eyes sparkling with wisdom. "I'm heading his way too."

"Why?! He's dangerous!" I ask in fear.

She touches a chocker on her neck. "You're familiar with the dragon miraculous, correct?"

I gasp, and take a step back.

"That was the whole reason I told you to call me if you needed my help. I was sent here to help you. Not only am I a miraculous holder, but I come from a long family of witches."

"Witches?" I ask. I would be surprised, but with some old man hoarding a miraculous that changes hormonal teenagers into vampires, I don't know what to think anymore.

Kagami nods. "This isn't just some normal vampire, Marinette. He was a vampire before he became akumatized. Hawkmoth lended his power to Luka, so now he's twice as strong. He has twice the amount of power a normal vampire could have."

I nod and start to run. "We don't have time to waste then! I'll meet you at his place!"

I run through the Paris streets, with dark thunderclouds clashing above my head. I almost reach Luka when suddently I hear someone call my name. I slow down to a stop, and look around the empty city roads, thinking it's Kagami. I don't see anyone. I assume it was just my imagination, but just as I start running again, I hear my name again, in much more urgency this time.

"Marinette!"

I whip my head around again. Nobody is on the streets, so maybe someone is in the alleyways. I take a quick detour and run though one of the many dark alleyways and look for the voice.

"Marinette, oh my god, I'm so glad I finally found you!"

I squint my eyes and peer ahead. I see dark figure standing in front of me. My heart pounds against my chest as I run to her.

"A-ALYA?!"

I sprint to my best friend and hug her with all my might. "I - I thought you died! Alya! Oh my god!"

She pushes me away, looking around nervously. "No, Marinette, back away! There's something wrong with me!"

Tears run down my face. "No, Alya! You're safe with me, I promise!"

"Marinette, you don't understand!" Alya explains, backing away.

"You're delusional, Alya. You're fine! Now let's get you home before you're parents get worried!"

I reach over and grab my friend's hand and pull her close. I hug her tightly. I'm so glad she's alive. Luka must have saved her! I mean, there's nothing else that can explain this. I was right, and Adrien was wrong. Luka isn't as dangerous as I thought.

"Marinette..." Alya whispers weakly.

When I pull away, she falls and collapses on the ground.

"Woah, are you okay?" I ask, looking at her pale face. "You must have lost a lot of blood. Here, I'll help you walk."

I wrap my arm around her and help her up. She snuggles her head by my neck, and I feel her shake. Luka must have hurt her pretty good. I wonder how she survived...

Wait.

"Alya..." I say, my voice cracking. "What do you remember happening when you woke up?"

She doesn't answer me.

I lay her down against a wall, and she closes her eyes. "A-Alya, I need you to answer me. I'm sorry for interrupting you earlier. What exactly did you say was wrong with you?"

Again, no answer.

I crouch down near her and tilt her chin to face me. Carefully, I put my finger on her eye-lid and slowly force her eyes open. I feel my heart drop. I fall backwards and put my hand over my mouth. Her eyes were red.

Alya's a vampire. And not any normal vampire, but a hungry one.

"Alya... just stay... right there..." I nervously whisper, and I scramble on my feet and sprint out of the alleyway. I feel my heart pound against my chest as I dash out of the alleyway with one foot rushing in front of another. My breaths rapidly increase. I pump my arms up and down, running at full speed. I have to get out of here before Alya wakes up and hungers for my blood.

I break out into the street, but bump into someone and fall back into a rain puddle. I hold my hand out above my eyes to shield them from the downpour. All I see is a black figure with rain pouring down on their shoulders.

"Marinette, I'm so, so hungry..." the voice mutters, with their head tilted in an unnatural position.

Alya.

I jump back on my feet and dash down the Paris streets. My shoes get soaked. I swiftly turn a corner and slip. I open my eyes and see a nasty cut on my knee, but with Alya tailing behind me, I can't waste time. I dash back on my feet and run towards Luka's place.

I have to save him.

Luka's POV

I watch her from from the top of a towering building and snicker. This poor girl looks so terrified as she clumsily darts away from Alya. It's rather amusing, actually, to see this little frail girl run away from a vampire I created.

"Hey Hawkie," I ask, "Why am I turning everyone into vampires again?"

"It's all apart of my grand plan," the dark voice explains through the purple butterfly silhouette in front of my face.

I roll my eyes. "And exactly what is that 'grand plan?' "

"Once I have enough people in this world who are vampires, I'll make them snap. Think of it as switching a switch in their brain that makes them go from good to evil," Hawkmoth explains.

"So, that means there are more than Adrien and I who are good vampires?" I ask.

"I'm not so sure you're good anymore, my boy," the evil voice says, laughing in my ear.

I growl. "Yeah, whatever. I just want my girl back."

I notice how close she is to my building, and I feel a smirk grow on my face. I can pull a 'knight in shining armor' move and save her, and then at the last minute, turn her into a vampire too. This was all too easy.

I jump down the building. The wind rushes through my dark hair and my leather jacket. I land and leave a crater in the ground. I stand up, and right as Marinette sees me, she stops.

"L-Luka?!" She pants, out of breath.

"In the flesh," I say, smirking.

Without warning I swoop her up in my arms and fly with her to the top of the Eiffel Tower. She's shocked, but once she realizes how high up in the air she is, she wraps her arms around my neck and squeezes. She's scared yet, she trusts me.

"Thank you... Alya was about to kill me!" She explains as soon as we land.

"No problem. Where's Adrien?" I ask.

She looks away, and I notice tears forming. "We broke up."

Oh my god, okay.

"Did he or you end it?" I ask, carefully choosing my words.

"He did," she whispers.

She looks towards the ground and holds herself. I sigh and sit on the ground, motioning her to sit with me. She does. The rain is still pouring, but the top of the tower gives us protection. She leans her head against mine and cries. I hold her hand.

"Luka..." she says, barley audible. "Are you... are you akumatized?"

I sharply inhale. She knows.

"Yeah," I say, sighing. "But I'm still me."

I feel her heart rate increase. She's scared.

"You've changed so much."

I nod. "That's because I was sick of how people were treating me. They would treat my like trash and not let me explain anything."

She leans up and looks at me in the eyes. "That's kinda why Adrien and I broke up. He didn't understand I was doing this to save you."

"I don't need saving," I explain, looking at the dark rain clouds. "Being a vampire gives me so much power I never knew I had."

Mari says nothing, so I grab her hand and kiss it. She looks up at me in shock, but before she can say anything, I interrupt her.

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng, please become a vampire with me. We could live together forever."

She gasps and leans away.

"I - I don't know, Luka..." she nervously whispers, looking away.

"The whole city of Paris will soon be nothing but vampires anyways, so you might as well give in now!"

"No, not like this, Luka. I wanted you to change," she states.

"What do you mean?! I've changed just for you! I've changed so much I don't even remember who I am anymore!"

"Shut up, Luka!" Marinette shouts. "This isn't what I wanted!"

I growl. "Marinette, join me. Just become a vampire."

She stands up and holds her chest. "Luka, you're a villain! I can't do that!"

I roll my eyes. "Heroes and villains, we're all the same. You just don't know it."

"No, we're not," she says coldly. "You've got a bad heart."

"Good heart, bad temper," I correct.

"Yeah, and look what happened now because of you!" She yells, throwing her hands up. "Look at this mess! How are we going to fix it?! You're just like Hawkmoth!"

"You can't destroy a monster without becoming one," I say with a smirk.

"Yes you can," she asserts with confidence. "I'll do it right now."

I sigh. I didn't want to do this, but she has given me no choice.

"Marinette," I command, using my mind-control, "Don't scream or protest. Become a vampire."

Her body freezes. I grin an evil smile.

Her eyes fill with fear, but her mouth shuts. She takes a step, and then another one. Her hands tremble from fear, but I commanded her not to fight back, so she continues to walk toward me. I open my mouth and my sharp vangs glimmer in the moonlight. I pierce my wrist. The blood slowly dribbles down, and I smile. She shakes and tears slowly start to fall down her rosy cheeks.

"Shh, angel. It will all be over soon," I gently whisper.

I grab Marinette and pull her close. Big, round tears tremble down her cheek as I run my hands through her hair.

"I love you, Marinette."

She frantically shakes her head, but I ignore her. I put my hand on the back of her head and force her to kiss me. I taste the saltiness from her tears. I pull away, and force her to drink the blood dripping from my hand. She tries to fight back, but with my mind-control, she can't.

"We'll be together forever," I whisper with an evil grin growing on my face.

I rub the back of her head and run my fingers through her hair. Once the blood starts to drip out of her mouth, I pull away. I smile and using my thumb to wipe her lips. She stares at me with teary filled eyes and I just laugh.

I grab her head and place both of my hands on her, ready to snap her neck and complete the process.

I smile. "Don't worry, my love. This will only hurt for a little bit."

Right as I'm about to kill her and transform her into a vampire, something slams and punches me in the gut. I cough and shoot backwards, doubling over and falling to the ground. I look up to see who hit me, and I feel my heart drop.

"LAY ONE MORE FUCKING FINGER ON HER AND I'LL KILL YOU WITH MY OWN TWO HANDS!"

I laugh, struggling to get off the ground.

"So, the cat has finally come to play?" I cough through a smile.

"You fucking bet," Chat says, with a deadly look in his eyes.
