Six - Luka
Adrien's POV
I wake up to someone tugging on my ear. I open my eyes and realize it's Plagg.
"Adrien, what have you gotten yourself into this time?" The black kwamii whispers in my ear.
Confused, I shift around in my bed. Only it's not my bed. It's Marinette's. I gasp, but quickly slam my hand over my mouth. I slowly pull the sheets down, and see the bluenette peacefully asleep. Her breathing is slow and gentle. She has a slight smile resting over her face. I wonder what she's dreaming about?
I quietly slide out of the bed. I stand up and stretch. I feel the warm Saturday morning light peak through the sky light, and rest on my blond hair. My eyes notice the small dust particles fly around the room, and I feel at peace. Her room is so warm and inviting. She sleeps on a loft, has a balcony at the top of the room, and has total, complete privacy. I feel so free. I can't believe she lives her everyday life like this. I sigh. Father would lose his mind if he found out where I was.
I wave Plagg over to me, and he nods. He says goodbye to Tikki and flies over to me. I start to climb up the ladder and open the door to the balcony when I hear her rustling from down below. I quickly pick up my speed to leave before she wakes up, but it's too late.
"Adrien?" I hear her say sleepily.
I turn around and face her, still on the ladder. "Morning, princess."
"Where are you going?" She asks lightly.
"I was just heading to leave before your parents found out I was here," I whisper, pointing toward the door.
She sleepily gets out of bed, and lightly grabs my hand. "I don't want you to leave."
I stay there, for a minute. She looks at me with such a kind look. Her eyes are sleepy, and it's obvious her brain isn't fully awake yet, but she has the same smile on her face. The light from the open door rests on her eyes, and shows me her bright blue eyes. Her dark blue hair shines in the warm sun. Her bangs blow in the cool crisp morning breeze. She tilts her head, and closes her eyes.
I step down the ladder and hug her tight. Her arms wrap me back, and she tightly squeezes. I smell her strawberry scented perfume and close my eyes. She's so warm. How did I never know I liked her?
I pull away and shake my head. "I'm sorry Marinette, but I have to go home. You know my father."
She sighs, and nods.
I grab her shoulders. "You know I would stay if I could."
She reaches her hand up to my forehead and brushes the bangs out of my face. "See you later, kitty."
I smile. I turn and continue to climb up the ladder. I open the door and climb up into her balcony. I turn around, and wave goodbye. She waves back. I quickly transform and fly away, into the city. I really do wish I could stay longer.
Marinette's POV
Well, that was something.
Before I'm able to even talk to Tikki about what happened, my mom calls me. I sigh dramatically, knowing this means she wants me to spend the whole Saturday morning helping her again with the bakery. I quickly dash to the bathroom to get ready.
I lock the bathroom door. I turn on the faucet, and wait for the water to turn warm. I splash my face with water, and use my face wash. I look up in the mirror, and scrub my cheeks. I brush my hair, and tie my hair into ponytails.
"Marinette, hurry up!" My mom calls.
I scurry out of the bathroom and clumsily throw on some clothes. "Coming mama!"
I rush down the stairs, hopping on one foot, while trying to slide my shoes on the other. I reach downstairs and hug my mom. I begin my normal routine of baking macaroons and croissants, when the phone suddenly rings.
"Marinette, dear?" My dad asks. "Could you pick that up for me?"
"Sure dad!" I chirp, and skip over to the phone. "Dupain-Cheng bakery, how may I help you?"
"Marinette, do you think you could meet me at my place?"
I gasp. "Luka! I'm so glad you're okay."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that last part. Just meet me at my place in about ten."
"Got it," I say, and hang up.
"Who was it, sweetie?" My mom asks.
"It's for an order of macaroons. I'll take them, since its on the other side of town and it will take a while." I lie, grabbing a box of the sweets.
"Alright," my dad says. "Stay safe."
I nod, then quickly leave the bakery. I dash to an alley and make sure no one is looking, then transform. I sling my yo-yo, then quickly swing across the Paris city. I dash through the clouds and eventually reach Luka's place. I de-transform and let Tikki sleep in my bag. I land on the boat and climb into his room through the skylight. I'm surprised when I find his room is completely dark.
"Luka?" I say, my voice quivering.
This might not have been the best idea.
Luka gasps. "Marinette!"
I quickly open the blinds so his room is a little brighter. I'm shocked when I see his state. His skin is pale, and he has dark eye bags. His eyes are a bright red. I sit on his bed, and look him in the eyes.
"Are you doing okay?" I ask, putting my hand on his cheek.
Luka rolls his eyes and leans back in the bed. "I kept the blinds closed so you wouldn't see me like this."
"Ah, I see," I say, laughing. "Anyways, how have you been getting food?"
Luka looks away from me. "I-I've been stealing from the blood bank. Criminal and absolutely evil, I get it. I know there's people who need it more than me, but I can't help myself. I'm starving, Marinette."
I rub my neck. "Believe me, I know."
Luka's eyes widen, and he leans in towards my neck. "You're neck, it's..."
My heart freezes.
"... bitten."
I quickly jump back and frantically throw my hands in the air. "OH! Um yeah, uh, I guess it is!"
Luka scowls. "Adrien did that."
I quickly cover my neck with my hands and lean away. "He was starving!"
Luka grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him. "So you let him?!"
I jump up. "Yeah, so what if I did? It was my decision, Luka! And I would let you too!"
Luka shuts up, and his eyes shine a bright red.
I laugh and collapse on his bed, then look up at his ceiling. "Oh, so now you're okay with it because I'm your personal blood bag?! I'm going to get so sick of this."
Luka leans down on me, with his dark hair dangling in my face. "I'm just saying, if you volunteered..."
I giggle, but he doesn't move. We stay there for a minute, with me on the bed and my hands up. I face him looking down on me, so close we could kiss.
"You're cute when you laugh," he explains, leaning away.
I shoot up. "W-wait really? I always thought my laugh was ugly..."
Luka puts his hand on my knee and I shut my mouth.
"Don't let anyone say that to you, or you can tell them to answer to me," he says, pointing to his vangs.
I laugh, and collapse onto him. "Oooh, scary are we now?"
We laugh for a minute, until I hear his stomach growl. I shoot up and look at him dead in the eyes with anger.
"You lied to me Luka!" I say, shocked.
Luka just looks away. I grab his chin and force him to look at my face.
"You said you were drinking blood bags. Now, look at me, dead in the eyes, and tell me the truth." I say, through my teeth.
He sighs. "I didn't want you to worry, Marinette. That would mean the only choice would be you."
I tilt my head at him, keeping my serious expression. "So you would much rather lash out and almost kill me, than tell the truth."
Luka's eyes grow wide. "No, Mari, I didn't mean that..."
"Then what do you want me to do?" I ask, throwing my hands up.
Luka's red eyes sparkle bright, as he stares into mine. His dark hair reflects the sunlight peering down from the skylight. He puts a hand on my cheek, and pulls me close to his face.
"I want you, but not just to keep me alive."
I freeze, and my cheeks heat up. "W-was that a love confession?"
Luka keeps his mature, flirtatious face. I sit back down on his bed, and look at him in the eyes. I quickly focus on something else. Maybe he didn't mean it like that, and I'm just looking too much into it.
"First things first then," I say, pulling my hair to one side of my shoulders.
Luka gently rests his cool hands on my neck. He pulls me so close, I can feel his breath.
"Alright then, on three."
I nod.
"One..."
I rest my shoulders.
"Two..."
My eyes close.
"Three..."
I sharply inhale as I feel his vangs prick just right above my right shoulder. The needles slowly slide deeper and deeper, until blood puddles out. I feel the sting all throughout my spine. I feel his breathing steadily increase on my neck. The dark liquid slowly oozes down my shoulder and drips down my arm. Luka keeps his eyes closed, and calm. He's gentle.
Eventually he pulls away, and wipes his mouth. His mouth is covered with the dark red liquid, and his tongue runs across his top lip. I quickly pull away, and cover my neck to prevent further bloodshed.
Luka gasps. "Mari, are you okay?"
I nod my head, but feels my heart rate slowly slow down. My world starts to spin. I slowly lose my balance and lean against him. My vision slowly dims and a red haze rests over everything. I feel at peace, and close my eyes. The last thing I remember hearing is Luka's disappearing echoing voice.
Luka's POV
Yeah, I'm pretty damn sure that's not supposed to happen.
I quickly rest her head on my pillow and check her pulse. I slightly push my fingers on her wrist. Thank god, she's alive, she's just out for now. I rush out of the room and head to the bathroom for bandages and water,
I open the white bathroom door and step inside the cramp room. I flick the ceiling light on, and a soft buzzing noise plays followed by a yellow light turning on. I open the cabinet and grab bandages, and a glass cup. Once the glass cup is filled with the tap water, I walk back out to give it to Mari.
I sit on the side of the bed and watch her carefully breath in and out. I know for sure she'll wake up in a few minutes, but for now, I just need to keep her safe.
I love her, after all.
a/n: boring chapter, I know. the next one is literally going to change the whole story. hint: she has to choose
