One - Never take a shortcut

A/n: i slightly modified the snake miraculous to fit the story. If I didn't, there would be too many loopholes. Art by me.

Miraculous Vampires

I know what you came here for. You want a deep, dramatic story filled with love and blood. Well, believe me, I got it, but it's a lot more than that. It involves betrayal, murder, and sacrifices. Oh, and cussing. Lots and lots of cussing. But we have to start at the beginning. Way, way back, when it all started with just a shortcut home.

2:17 am, last Tuesday.

"Chat Noir, It's so dark! Where are you? All the street lights went out!"

The faithful blond-headed cat jumped down from a towering building and landed right in front of me. His green eyes shined bright in the moonlight. "Right here, Ladybug. Where's Viperon?"

"We'll find him - or he'll find us - after we defeat this vampire!" I screamed over the blaring car alarms surrounding us.

We dashed toward the villain at full speed. The vampire we were fighting was flying in the air with a smug look on his face. He raised his eyebrows and his eyes flashed an eerie bright red. Using his powers of telekinesis, he used his mind to sling a car toward us at lightning speed. I gasped and jumped back with the car aiming right towards me.

"CATACLYSM!" Chat Noir screamed. He held his glowing black hand out and hit the car right before it crashed into us. The car disintegrated into ash right before hitting us.

Shocked, I stumbled back into Chat's arms, and he pulled me up. He tilted my chin toward's his face and quickly tucked my the bangs out of my view.

"Careful, m'lady. We don't have time to waste." He smiled a warm grin and dashed off.

I followed him in his shadow. The street was dark, after all it was around 2 am in the morning. My heart was pounding as I felt the adrenaline run through my veins. I could taste my sweat slipping in my mouth. Cars were flying at us left and right, but Chat and I nimbly dodged them all. We had to defeat this villain, but how?

"Chat!" I screamed. "Call Viperon! I have a plan!"

He nodded "On it! Do your thing, Ladybug!"

We split paths. I dashed at full speed toward the vampire hovering in the center of the city, and Chat sprinted into the shadows and pulled out his phone. The villain was still tossing cars toward us, so I used that to my advantage.

Careful, Marinette. If you mess this up, it's the end of the line for you. Don't be reckless.

Using all my might, I jumped onto a car flying at me. I gasped and stumbled as I landed on the moving car, but I didn't hesitate. I didn't have time to. I jumped from one car to another, all in the air, until I was right next to the vampire.

"Lucky charm!"

With all of my might, I jumped off the last car and held my glowing hand out to touch the vampire. If I did this right, I would touch the villain with my lucky charm, which is what I call when my hand is glowing a bright pink, and the vampire would be cured through my magic. I soared through the air, with my arm stretched out as far as I could go...

BAM!

The vampire turned around at the last minute and punched me right in the face. I flew backwards and my body went limp. The wind rushed through my hair as I fell fast head-first toward the concrete.

This is it, I thought. Say your prayers, Marinette.

"SECOND CHANCE!"

Only inches away from hitting the ground, I was struck by a teal beam.

"Viperon!" I whispered to myself after getting hit by the beam. Chat must have found him! He must have used his power on me, second chance, which shoots a teal beam from the miraculous and hits a target, sending them back to a spot that the snake miraculous holder deems useful. Long story short, he can rewind time for a certain person or object. In my case, he'll probably rewind time to right before I got hit by the villain.

Suddenly I teleported to the same spot I was before. With only a moment to think, I jumped on top of the vampire and slammed him on the ground with full force. Using my hand with the Lucky Charm activated, I touched the vampires arm. The glow transferred from my hand to the vampire and his body glowed a bright pink, then returned to normal. We checked on the victim, and sent him back home. He wasn't evil anymore. After all, it was just the vampire blood that made him act the way he did.

Viperon walked toward me with a smile. "He's cured, and no longer a vampire! Great job, Ladybug."

I smiled back at him. "Thanks for using your power on me and sending me back, right before I got hit! If you didn't shoot me with your beam, I would have been dead!"

Chat joined in the conversation, and yawed. "I'm glad he's cured, but could you miraculous ladybug this shit and let us get back home? I'm sleepy," he whined.

"Alright kitty, quit your bickering," I giggled. "Miraculous Ladybug!"

All the destruction from the vampire was cured. Cars were back on their wheels and no longer broken. Buildings were fixed, and streets were put back together. All the cuts and bruises on our bodies were healed.

I fell on the ground dramatically, exhausted from what we just went through.

"Spots off," I whispered.

My hero costume faded away and my powers were gone. Tikki, my kwamii who lets me have my super hero abilities, suddenly appeared in the air and fell into my lap. The other two boys did the same and de-transformed.

Adrien, the holder of the cat miraculous, collapsed on the ground next to me. "Why do vampires have to be active at night? Can't they just, like, be normal people who don't mess up our sleep schedules?"

Luka, the holder of the snake miraculous, smirked and sat down too. "My sleep schedule was ruined long before I became a vampire hunter. What did Master Fu call my miraculous again? The distractor of vampires?"

Adrien suddenly sprung up and his eyes sparked. "Okay, but you have got to admit my title, destroyer of vampires, is super cool!"

Plagg, Adrien's kwamii, snickered. "Don't let your title ruin your ego, kid."

I shot up and laughed. Luka just shook his head.

Plagg smiles and does a flip in the air. "The best title goes to the ladybug: The curer of vampires!"

Adrien scoffed. "You're just siding with Marinette because you want to impress Tikki!"

Tikki giggled and I smiled. I checked the time on my phone, and my stomach dropped.

"It's almost 3!" I gasped. "I've got to get home before I have to wake up early in the morning! See y'all at school!"

Adrien waved and Luka smiled. I dashed off into the shadows and made a bee-line toward my house. I heard the crickets chirping on my way home. I splashed in a puddle and I saw the glistening water droplets reflecting the silver moon. Right as I reached to open the door to my house, I froze. I remember thinking it was such a peaceful night. The moon was full, and the night sky was stunningly beautiful with stars sprinkled across. Everything was perfect.

But perfection only lasts for a second.

Luka's POV

I remember saying goodbye to Adrien and slipping into the shadows of the alleyways. I live in what most people would call "the shader part of town", where there's often robberies and break-ins, so I'll usually take a longer way home so I can guarantee my safety. The path through the park is always much more safer, but it will take almost twenty minutes longer to get home. I was too tired and wanted to get home as fast as I could so I can at least try and get some sleep before school starts in the morning.

On my way home, I slipped in and out of alleyways. I wore my hoodie up and walked fast, hoping not to get jumped.

"Luka...." my kwamii, sass, whined. "I'm hungry..."

"Don't worry buddy, we're almost home. I promise you'll eat the best slice of pizza you've ever eaten when we reach the house."

"Pizza is so warm.." he whispered, half asleep.

I just sighed and walked in the moonlight. It was a peaceful night, and I could hear my steps echoing through the streets.

Wait. Those aren't my footsteps.

Scared that I might get mugged, I started to walk faster. In return, the steps behind me started to walk faster. I could feel the cool night breeze flow through my hair as I started to sprint away from the danger. My heart started to race, and my breaths picked up. The footprints were gaining on me. I could hear them slowly catching up to me.

I busted into a full run. I tucked sass into my pocket, and dashed down the dark alleyway. Cobwebs hit my face, and rats scurried along my feet. I heard my breaths echoing along the buildings. The souring smell of trash filled the air as I ran past a dumpster. I tripped on something that fell out of the bin, and I came crashing down with my shoulder breaking my fall.

I scrambled to stand up, with my heartbeat racing. When I finally gained balance, I peered down to glance at what I tripped on. My stomach dropped, and I felt my dinner start to force it's way up.

A drained human body.

I shot my body around to face the danger. Bright red eyes were sprinting toward me, along with piercing sharp teeth. I opened my mouth to transform into Viperon, but it was too late. The vampire chocked my neck and pounced on me. My head slammed into the concrete and sent a sharp stabbing pain throughout my skull and along my spine. The vampire grabbed a fist full of my hair, and yanked my chin up, opening a clear spot on my neck. I grabbed his hands, but I was too weak. He used his whole body weight to keep me pinned on the ground. He put one hand over my mouth and smiled.

"Quit struggling. The more you struggle, the more likely the chance you'll become just like me. Just accept your fate, and it will all be over soon."

I grasped his hands over my mouth and struggled them off. "I'd rather die than become someone like you!"

His grin disappeared. "Fine."

He angrily opened his mouth and bit his own wrist. He broke the skin, and then shoved his wrist on my mouth. I could taste his blood oozing in. I kicked my feet in an effort to break free, but it was useless. He yanked his arm away and choked me, forcing me to swallow.

His mouth shot open and bit me on the neck. His fangs felt like needles piercing my soul. His teeth sank deeper and deeper, sucking all of the blood out of my body.
I struggled and tried to break free, but the vampire greedily wanted more. Slowly the world faded out and a red haze swept over my view. I became very relaxed and didn't try to fight anymore. My eyes slowly shut.

Before I lost conscious, I felt him get off my body and drag me toward the dumpster. He propped me up and let me rest against the trash. He mumbled something and slipped into the shadows before anyone saw him.

The last thing I remember hearing was the soft cries of Sass on my chest.
