Epilogue

Marinette's POV

I walked home that day, surprised but hopeful for my new school year. I smiled as I walked home in the cool Paris breeze. I went home and greeted my parents, and walked upstairs to my room. I closed the door and sighed. I enjoy school, don't get me wrong, but man, I am tired! I throw my bag down on my bed and immediately sit down on my chair by my desk. At times like this I wish I had siblings, or a pet, or someone I could talk to. My parents are usually too busy working in the bakery to talk to me, and I've gotten use to it, but I still wish I could talk to someone who would always listen to me.

I continue on with my day. I open my diary to start writing about my first day, but to my surprise, there's something already written down on the pages. In my handwriting. The pages are filled with stories about a girl named Ladybug, a boy named Chat Noir, and a boy named Viperon. I couldn't help but smile when I read those names, but I don't know why. I shake my head and close my eyes in amusement.

But as soon as I open them again, all the writing on the pages were gone.

I gasp, and immediately flip through my diary. My fingers flip through the pages and I intensely stare at the blank pages. How...? Did I just imagine everything I just read? Did I just imagine the stories of the girl who battled vampires and saved the city? Did I just imagine her friends turning into vampires themselves? Did I just imagine that the girl was... me?

I laugh and shake my head. Man, I really am tired. I get up from my chair and drag my feet across the cold wooden floor. I sigh and plummet face first into my soft bed. I kick my shoes off my feet and craw deep, deep under my sheets. I pull the thick blanket over my shoulders and close my eyes.

Even though I'm perfectly happy with my everyday-normal life, a secret part of me envies the adventures of the girl I just read about. I try and remember who she is, and why I feel such a strong feeling of nostalgia when I think of her partners, but I slowly drift into sleep and forget all about the adventures I read of the ladybug, the cat, and the snake.

Adrien's POV

I greet Natalie who's standing at the doors when I enter my mansion. She greets me back, and explains that my father is out and about in Paris. I nod and smile. I'm glad my father is so busy outside of the home, and still manages to have time for me. I climb up my marble stairs and open my door. I grab my jacket and pull it slightly off my chest, almost like I was hiding something and expecting something small to fly out. I stand there for a moment in shock. Why did I just do that? I laugh and roll my eyes. Today has been a long day.

I hear a quick knock and my door opens. "Hello Adrien, how was your first day of school today?"

I roll my eyes. "Mom, you don't need to know everything!"

She just giggles and places her hands on her hips. "So-rry, I was just checking on my son to see how his first day of high school was. Never mind, just forget me..."

I laugh and shake my head. She can be so overdramatic at times.

"Maybe I should just disappear. Maybe that would give me the attention I deserve!" She teases, and acts like she faints on my bed.

"Mom!" I giggle, running towards her, but she just grabs me and pulls me in for a hug.

After a moment or two she jumps out of my bed. "I've got to go do some work. Your father should be home soon. Make sure to call your new friends and plan when you're going to hang out with them! I want you to be out of the house every weekend, got it?"

I smile. "Got it."

She nods and walks away, closing my door. I turn around and plan to text my new friend, Marinette, but something interrupts me. A smell. A nasty smell. I hold my nose and investigate where it's coming from. I look around and finally find where it's coming from. I open a dresser drawer and find a pile of nasty smelling camembert. I cough and immediately look away, with the sudden blast of the nasty smelling cheese blinding me. As soon as I regain my senses, I look back into the drawer to find it clean and empty. I lift my hand away from my nose and smell the air, but astonished to find that there's nothing to smell.

Did I just imagine that? I must be really tired.

I push off my knees and walk to my bed. I untie my shoes and slip my shirt off my chest, and craw underneath my sheets. I rub my face in my pillow and sigh, remembering all of my first day of school. Something about that Marinette girl sends nostalgia down my spine. I feel like I've known her forever, even though I just met her today. It's something about her bluebell hair, her pure eyes, and her pink lips that pings me with remembrance.

I sigh and close my eyes. No, I'm only imagining things.

I slowly feel my body falling asleep, and then it hits me. She's Ladybug. I'm Chat Noir. We have a partner named Viperon. We saved the city from vampires. We were superheroes!

I wake up and gasp. I shoot up from my bed. I stay sitting up for a while, and freeze. What was that? I try and remember what was so important that woke me up, but nothing comes to mind. It must have been a silly dream. I shake my head and smile to myself, laying back in my bed and falling asleep. It's been a long day, Adrien. You need some sleep.

If you forgot it, it couldn't have been that important, could it?

FAQs

Q: Why is Emilie Agreste, Adrien's Mom, suddenly alive now?
A: Marinette wished for everything to go back to how it was before they gained the miraculous. The reason they gained the miraculous in the first place was to battle Hawkmoth. The reason that Hawkmoth is evil is to return his wife back from the dead. If they never gained the miraculous, then that would mean there would be no Hawkmoth to battle in the first place. If there is no Hawkmoth to battle in the first place, then that means that Hawkmoth isn't heart broken and wanting Emilie Agreste to be back from the dead. This would mean that Emilie Agreste is alive and well, with no miraculous in her position to harm her or cause her death. Basically, no miraculous = no evil Hawkmoth because Emilie is alive.

Q: What was the 'deadly price to pay' with the wish?
A: Their love. Because Adrien is no longer the Cat miraculous holder, and Marinette is no loner the Ladybug miraculous holder, their love isn't destined to be. (contrary to the cannon tv show.) Because of Ladybug never gaining the ladybug miraculous, she would never discover her true personality (Ladybug's personality.) This would cause Adrien to never fall in love with Marinette, and instead, think of her only as a close friend.

Q: Why are some of their past life experiences still occurring in their new life?
A: Marinette's wish didn't make Paris go back into time, but just simply wipe their memories and cause the world to reset back to before the Ladybug and Cat miraculous were obtained. The wish was a very powerful one, and so obviously the wish wouldn't be completely perfect, and their would be holes. This was the cause of Marinette's journal having some of the pages still written in, and Plagg's uneaten cheese remaining in Adrien's room. As soon as Adrien and Marinette recognized the holes in time, the universe quickly fixed it and wiped the memory of the hole from them.
