Marinette was completely sick of it.
Nobody in her entire grade would give Chloe a second chance.
And the blonde had changed. After confessing, albeit drunk, all her secrets to Marinette one forced night, she had learned that pushing people away wasn't always the right way to be strong. Chloe had tried her best to slowly lower her walls, be kinder, not be as cruel, but everyone believed it was a ruse and everyone decided she deserved all the crap she was getting.
Even Adrien. Her perfect prince was letting past experiences get in the way of the future. One night, spending the day with her new friend, Marinette had confessed that her prince wasn't so perfect after all and how she was trying desperately to keep being nice to everyone but was getting to the end of her nerves.
Chloe had giggled and continued brushing her blue-black locks.
But now was the last straw.
Alya, now with Sabrina due to a timetable change, had dumped an entire container of frog parts on Chloe with a casual 'oops.'
"How dare you?!"
Marinette's angry tone shocked the classroom into silence as Chloe's eyes drifted to the ground, the ice blue glazing over with unshed tears. The blunette's also blue eyes were aimed straight at Alya and her entire body was shaking with fury.
"All of you! I won't begin to tell you how angry I am, but even more so, I am disappointed! You go on and on about how she deserves everything you're doing to her, and now look what you're doing! Honestly, I feel like Chloe is the only decent one out of all of you!!" She scowled deeply, glowering at everyone, eyes lingering on a withering Adrien and a statue-still Alya. "Why can't you get your heads out of your asses and see that you're in no way being better?!" She grabbed Chloe gently and pulled her outside, shouldering her bag and slamming the door.
Chloe sighed, letting the headstrong girl pull her to her house above the quaint bakery. Marinette was always extremely protective of her friends, and very stubborn. It would be useless to struggle against her, especially because her sweet voice would override her common sense anyway. Besides, her room was very cute, just like the girl who resided in it, and her fashion sense was amazing. She was sure to fix everything, like she always did, with a kind smile and a warm mug of hot chocolate.
The blond girl smiled to herself as Sabine questioned their appearance and let them go upon Marinette's explanation, shooting a sympathetic look towards her. The Dupain-Cheng family treated her as one of their own, and she truly felt loved with them. She truly felt part of a family.
"Go have a shower, there's a clean towel in there, as well as shampoo and conditioner. I'll find you some clothes." Marinette ushered her into her bathroom with a smile, shutting the door behind her.
As soon as Marinette shut the door, she opened her closet to see that dress hanging up in a plastic bag. Biting her lip, she glanced towards the closed door, thoughts flying through her head. Would it fit? Well, of course it would fit, Marinette had her measurements and was extremely careful about cutting fabric. Would it suit her? Yes indeed, it would compliment her icy eyes and tan skin and blond hair very well. Would she like it?
Perhaps?
The dress was made with Chloe in mind. It had a white V-neck layer sewn over the bodice, but that was the only white on the dress. The rest was yellow, a not too bright but not too pale yellow, with slightly darker stripes going across. It had a mid-thigh skater skirt that would show off her long, tanned legs, as well as a waist tailored to fit comfortably yet snugly.
Deciding quickly, she pulled the dress out, as well as a few accessories to match, and a pair of shoes.
God, I hope she likes it.
"Clothes are on the chaise, shoes next to it. I'll be downstairs!" Marinette called before bolting downstairs, heart pounding in nervousness.
Chloe stepped out of the bathroom, towel wrapped around her body to find her clothes taken away, probably to be washed, and a clean set on Marinette's chaise, right where she said they would be. Curious to see what the blunette picked out, she carefully stepped over to see a simple and beautiful dress laying next to a cute denim vest. She frowned, sure that she would remember such a pretty dress that would suit her so perfectly, before checking for a label.
Hidden in the hem of the skirt, in swirling cursive gold thread, was Marinette's name.
She smiled. Of course this was
