Scars

The obligatory scars reveal because of course I would do this. This takes place after new york and shanghai happens but Lukanette was never a thing and neither was adrigami.

"You know," Ladybug started as she sat by Chat Noir on a rooftop, "How some of the injuries we get in battle can leave scars even after I do the cure?"

"Well hello there Ladybug. Hello Chaton. How are you on this fine afternoon? Im good, thank you for asking," he said, mimicking the way she speaks, "Though, whatever you called me for will most likely have to be quick because I have someplace to be"

"Chat," she warned, though by the roll of her eyes and the small smile on her lips, he knew she wasn't really mad at him.

"Sorry M'lady," he grinned, "What about them?"

"Well Tikki told me something interesting a while back- but I forgot about it- but still I thought I should tell you once I remembered and... well. From what I've seen and what I've heard about Plagg from you and her, I'm just going to assume that he didn't think to tell you this at all."

Chat noir snickered at that, "You are totally spot on. He never tells me anything unless I explicitly ask."

She faced him with an amused smile, though her eyes had a faraway look to them, "Yeah... well. Tikki said that those scars can only be seen by us. Which, in hindsight, I just rolled with because I'd rather no one question my scars because there are actually a lot. And I'm sure you have quite a few too," he nodded, "But I got curious and Tikki told me a bit more a few days back."

"Now you're making me curious," unintentionally, he leaned into her with a very expectant and eager expression.

(Oh I'm curious yeah! Ok. Im sorry. I had to.)

She giggled slightly at his face, thinking he looked cute and innocent like that, and even she wouldn't deny that her partner could make some of the most adorable faces when he wanted to. He was a kitty after all.

She quickly shook her head and her face fell a bit when she remembered what she was talking about.

"She said that the holder and the kwamis are the only ones who can see their scars. This is for any holder actually, it's just another part of the glamour effect. Its sort of a protective mechanism so other people don't make the connection."

"I have no idea where you are going with this," he looked confused, but attentive. And she felt happy that even after they had become a little distant because of their personal life and her stress with the guardianship, he would always keep all ears open for her. It warmed her heart more than anything else had recently (not even Luka's kindness and his own attentiveness had made her this happy).

Still, she raised her index to his lips and made a shushing sound, "Shh, Chaton. I'm getting there. With the ladybug and cat miraculous, it's different however."

Her finger was still on his lips, so when he asked a question, she could feel his warm breaths exhale through his mouth rather than his nose, "How so?"

"Our miraculous are basically the Ying and Yang. They're creation and Destruction. They're true opposites but they complete each other. When I said that I can't be Ladybug without you I meant it. Of course I did. I need you more than I realised. But Tikki told me that it was deeper than that. That if someone else became Chat Noir, I wouldn't be able to reach my full potential for a very long time. And same for you if someone else became Ladybug. Because, since we have been working together for so long, our bond has become strong. And it will become stronger."

"So," his eyes narrowed incredulously, "Are you trying to say we are soulmates."

"Well, I guess that's one way to see it."

His eyes widened to its normal size and he smirked, "See, I told you Bugaboo. You and me. We were made for each other."

She rolled her eyes, but again, that didn't stop the small smile that creeped up on her face, "Yes, well. What were we talking about?"

"Scars. Though you haven't really mentioned them much. You should never write a story, ever. It would take too long for you to get to the point."

"Shush kitty cat," she huffed, getting distracted by his playfulness for a moment, "It's not like I would want to write a story. Anyways. She said, as our bond becomes stronger, the glamour will slowly release for us. Starting with out scars."

"Wait-" he interrupted, "Does that mean that, eventually. We will be able to recognise each other even without masks?"

She pondered for a moment, "I think you may be right. Maybe that's why Tikki was so adamant that we don't reveal our identity until it's the right time. I'm guessing what she means by the 'right time' is when the glamour starts fading for us," she put a hand on his shoulder.

"If that's true then, maybe my hunches of who you are are actually coming closer to the truth as our bond becomes better."

"Yeah well, I'm going to be honest with you Adrien," he tried to sputter some words out as he stared at her in shock, but she continued whilst patting his shoulder sympathetically, "I saw some of your scars in school and that glamour started to fade really quickly once I connected the dots."

"Wha-uh. What?"

She stood up and brushed of the nonexistent dust off of her legs before reaching out to him to bring him up as well, "Come on Kitty. Let's go somewhere more private."

That was all she said before she grabbed his shell-shocked self by the waist and directed them towards the Dupain Cheng Bakery with her yoyo.

(Never try to write two oneshots at once. I had to just delete a whole part cuz it was for the other oneshot I was writing and I had gotten them mixed up.)

Chat didn't even realise they were headed there until their feet had met the balcony floor. He had been too distracted by how Ladybug was carrying him like a damsel in distress, moreso he couldn't wrap his head around the fact that she knew who he was.

So when he was placed on the ground, more gently than usual, by Ladybug, it was then that the hope he had of who she was flared up and made his heart race quickly.

She didn't say anything and neither did he. He couldn't. He was having trouble breathing just thinking about what was going to happen next. Hoping that what would happen would be what he desired the most.

He just toddled behind her and he watched in anticipation as she opened the trapdoor and beckoned him in with a knowing glance thrown towards him and a flick of her finger.

And as he jumped off of the bed onto the floor, trying his hardest to be quiet, he sighed blissfully as his most wanted desire finally became truth in his eyes.

The two people who had somehow taken both sides of his heart hostage were actually one.

Marinette was Ladybug.

And Ladybug was Marinette.

He had been feeling so conflicted in recent months because he knew he had loved Ladybug but Marinette had slowly been taking over the space that Ladybug had claimed in his heart. Because even though knowing he had love for Ladybug had been quick and easy, it had taken him longer to realise his feelings for Marinette. Feelings that had been there probably since he had given her his umbrella.

But his heart desired for two to become one.

In fact, he had even suspected that they were just one until the kwamibuster incident. Multimouse had stumped him.

But now he had definite proof that only one person could ever claim his heart, he felt relieved, amazed, ecstatic.

He dropped his transformation, just as she did, and quickly scooped her by the waist twirling her in the air for a bit. She squealed slightly at the action and laughed when he did. Her laugh to him felt like the rare days he spent with his mother trying to make cookies and eating them all in one go before his father would find out. It made him feel deliriously happy.

He set her down and brought one hand to her face, his other still around her waist as he whispered, "I am so, so happy Marinette. Knowing. That it's you."

"I'm happy too Adrien. Truly."

They stared at each other, Adrien's fingers stroking her face tenderly, the both of them smiling widely in content.

"Can I see them again?" She suddenly asked, her eyes fluttering down, trying to avoid his gaze as she became timid.

"What?" He questioned.

"Your scars," her voice was low but she realised how abrupt it sounded and she shook her head, "Actually, wait. Forget what I said. You don't need to show them if you don't want to. I shouldn't have even seen them in the first place and oh my gosh! Adrien! I'm so sorry. You must think I'm some crazy stalker or something but I promise that what I saw, I saw accidentally. I was still at school fo-"

He cut her off with a kiss. It was a quick peck really, but it quietened her down in record speed and caused her to gape at him like a fish (a very cute fish, mind you).

"I'm going to be honest," he started with a sheepish look, "I kind of already knew you were staying at the school until late. I overheard you talking to Miss Bustier as I was packing up and I was actually hoping to catch you after fencing practice anyways. Not that I was stalking you either Mari," he quickly added.

"Okay," she responded dumbly, still blinking from the shock of the kiss.

He smiled at her and lifted his fingers to brush her fringe out of her face, "and to answer your question, of course I'll show you them M'lady. They were mostly for you anywa- Ow! Ow! Ow! M'lady!"

It was his final comment which efficiently brought her out of her daze, and she hit his chest with an frustrated pout on her lips and her eyes looking straight at him with a fearsome glare.

He may have been slightly intimidated but he couldn't help but think of how adorable she looked.

"Don't say stuff like that you idiot," she raised her voice a bit but he could tell she was more upset than mad, "Do you know what I hate the most about being Ladybug? It's the fact that I have to see you sacrifice yourself for me you stupid cat. Do you know how much my heart hurts seeing you in pain? Seeing you being used as a puppet? Seeing you dead? And everytime it hurts even-"

When I know I would do anything to bring you back. She would have finished.

But this time he cut off her rant with a longer kiss. He pressed his lips urgently and Marinette shivered slightly even though his touch was warm. Without much deliberation, her own lips moved in sync with his, and she found herself parting them, if only to let herslf breathe a bit. She gasped when he lightly bit on her bottom lip, and she could taste the slight metallic tang as he sucked it gently. In the back of her mind, there was the thought of who had taught him how to kiss so well.

(Truth to be told, his Chinese teacher had recommended some Chinese Dramas that could help him with his speaking and listening. He was more invested in the romance.)  (Speaking of, what is ur favourite Chinese drama if u do watch them? Mine is You are my glory.)

He slowly and reluctantly stopped the kiss, peeling his face away from her own. He unwrapped himself from her and took a step back, making her confused as to what was happening, but he smiled at her.

He took his jacket off and carelessly threw it on her floor, before reaching for the bottom of his t-shirt, taking one more glance at her perplexed gaze.

He removed his shirt too. (Guys before you jump to conclusions. Calm yourself. Because this isn't what you think it is.)

"Adrien?" She questioned, her eyes fixed on the set of scars scattered around his chest, even though she had seen them for a short time before, "What are you doing?"

He turned around and Marinette felt her heart drop at the sight before her. She brought her hands to her mouth, trying to cover the choked gasp that let out. Her eyes seemed to become blurry and cautiously, she  stepped towards the guy on front if her.

Yes, before, she had seen some of his scars, but she hadn't seen the brunt of it. Because whilst his chest was littered with small scars which were the result of several akumas that weilded swords and sharp objects, it was his back that seemed to have the most impact with the akumas. And she hadn't seen the back beforehand.

She reached out and touched the biggest scar, the one that stood out the most to her. Because it was a reminder of the first time she lost him.

"Chaton," she whispered, and the tears started falling.

The faint handprint made the memory of their past so fresh.

She moved her shaking hand to the large line near the handprint, and traced it lightly, her other hand still clasped around her mouth.

She kept on doing it, focusing on the different scars and tracing them, and with each one an old memory flared in her mind, and she felt as if she was in those situations again. Like she was just watching him sacrifice himself over and over again. And it hurt. It hurt even more than the first time she experienced it.

The tears kept on flowing.

Adrien turned around when she let out a stifling sob and brought his bare arms around her.

"I want you to know that I would do it again if I had to," when her head snapped up and she opened her mouth to speak, he brought a finger up to silence her, "No M'lady. Let me speak. I need you to understand that I would do it because I believe in you. I know you will always bring me back. I know you will never give up on me. And you know what? I believe it is my duty as the black cat to always protect my ladybug. To always make sure that at the end of the day, you are alive and well even if it means I won't be."

"But I don't want you to. I don't want you to be hurt because of me. I don't want you to leave me."

He sighed and brought her into him a bit more, laying his chin on her head, "I know. And I'm sorry that you have to keep seeing it. But I'd rather it was me than you. You're my partner. And I want to be able to do all that I can for you, I want to be able to protect you. Because I love you Marinette."

She sniffled into his collarbone and he smiled a but at the warmth of her breath on him, "Really?"

"Of course I do," he pressed a small kiss into her hair, "And I want you to remember this, always. These scars. They are a reminder of my love for you. That I would do anything for you. But they're also a reminder of my survival. A survival that wouldn't be possible without you. And I am proud to have these scars."

"I'm proud of you too, you know. And I don't think I would have survived if it weren't for you either."

He hummed into her hair and continued, "So don't cry, my Princess. Believe in yourself. Believe that I will be there to always have your back. And when you look at my scars, don't feel guilty. Okay?"

"Okay," she replied, "Oh. And Adrien?"

"Yeah M'lady."

"I love you too."

Bonus: about half an hour later. (Remember it was like afternoon at the beginning of the oneshot. And I couldn't resist putting this in.)

The thing is.

Adrien and Marinette had both forgotten that he didn't have his shirt on.

And... well.

Seeing as they were in the middle of quite a heated kiss, and Marinette had been pulled into Adrien's lap, with his own hand that had found its way under her shirt and caressing the skin on her back.

Well...

Maybe they understood why Alya and Nino looked so shocked.

Despite the fact that they had been caught in a very compromising position, Marinette and Adrien found that they didn't really care. When their eyes locked onto each other, they burst into full blown laughter whilst Alya and Nino tried to comprehend what they were looking at.

Marinette turned to the two and stood up, beckoning them in whilst Adrien looked for his discarded shirt and threw it on, "Sorry guys. I guess we lost track of time," she shrugged.

Adrien, who hadn't even put his jacket on, came to her side and wrapped an arm around her waist. Marinette happily snuggled into him.

"Fur-real, we were purr-etty distracted. We paw-mise we didn't intentionally forget mew."

Marinette giggled at the horrendous amount if puns he was using.

Alya and Nino slowly came into the room and stared at them for quite long.

The silence was broken by Alya, "All of my effort to get you two together, wasted," she said dejectedly and then pointed to the two of them, "You better tell me how the hell this happened when just yesterday you guys were being so awkward around each other."

"Well," Marinette began as they all sat in a circle on the floor.

She started to tell them a slightly distorted story of the day's events in order to protect their identities, and the four quickly forgot about whatever revision they had been planning on doing as they laughed and teased each other for the the rest of their time together.

Adrien snuck a glance at his girlfriend and smiled as the tension that she had been carrying since she had become guardian seemed to lessen slightly.

He made a vow to himself that he would always, always be there for her, even if it meant he would get more scars.

So, have you guys seen the leaked spoilers for the end of season 5 because holy shit, I think this season will actually be the best season of miraculous ever. Well apart from season 1 because I know we all have a nostalgic place in our hearts for season 1.

Ugh I can't wait for the rest if the episodes to be out. Its all I can think about.

Bug out lovelies 😘.
