Crashing Into Place

Another oblivio fix it type. I just really like writing these ones. This is really just humour and romance and a very dumb idea I had. This is by no means meant to be a masterpiece of writing. Just something I wanted to write for fun.

Also Hi.

It's been a while since I've written a new one-shot. I've been focusing a lot of my attention on Realms Against Us, We Chose This Destiny and my writing mind literally only cares about finishing it instead of writing more one-shots. But I need to take a little break from it because the chapter I just finished writing was depressing af. This one isn't going to be too long though because I want to get back to writing Realms (I can't help it. It's my passion project rn. I've literally been writing it since the beginning of this year. So please give my baby some love (: ).

I'll try to write more one-shots soon when I have the inspiration.

As usual they are 17 ish.

............

Oblivio was supposed to erase their memory.

When she did her miraculous ladybug, their memories of everything that happened during the whole Oblivio fiasco was, in theory, also supposed to be erased.

And in their shock of being so close together and, consequently, being shown that they had just kissed, they had actually almost forgotten it.

Key word being almost.

The thing is, and neither of them could pinpoint when exactly they knew, but they remembered everything. At first, it had come to them through dreams or just random visions that both thought were just very vivid daydreams. Ones of the two of them standing together in an isolated building, hiding away from something they couldn't quite understand, yet relishing in each other's company despite whatever they were fearful of.

Marinette chalked it up to one of her weird fantasies that her mind liked to create.

Adrien tried to deny it but it got him to start thinking of his classmate more.

And then the visions became clearer. The gaps started to fill. Who they were running from. Why they were together there in the first place. And they began to remember certain dialogues. Certain things they had said. Certain God-like beings they had talked to. They remembered the words that had been said and the feelings which had been felt. All which led up to that kiss. The kiss which had been documented by the lady-blogger and had been spread amongst magazines and billboards and had even been broadcasted on the news for all of Paris to see.

In Marinette's mind, it was becoming abundantly clear that she thought Adrien Agreste was Chat Noir, whether it was an unconscious decision or not.

Meanwhile Adrien was also going through something similar. It was getting harder and harder to not see the similarities that pointed to the fact that Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Ladybug were one in the same.

Still, they mentioned nothing to their partner, if only in fear that they were wrong and it was all just wishful thinking.

But was it, really?

It was just a normal day for them when everything finally came out in the open.

Marinette had been late to school having woken up only twenty minutes before as she had stayed up along with Chat to fight an akuma late at night. Adrien had also just come, yawning as he went up the stairs, only having two hours of sleep as he had to wake up for a photoshoot which went into their first lesson. He slowly trudged up the stairs after waving goodbye to his bodyguard.

He didn't even comprehend that someone was quickly coming up behind him until she bashed right into his shoulder. He thanked Plagg for his quick reflexes because, even sleep deprived he managed to catch her in his arms before the two of them could come crashing down.

"Oh," he tried to yawn with his mouth shut so as to be polite, but he couldn't stop his mouth widening as the exhaustion quickly got to him, "Hey M'lady."

"It seems like you got less sleep than me huh Chaton? Did you have a photoshoot?"

He nodded and set her back up straight before moving to pick her backpack up from where it had landed a few feet away from them, "Is it that obvious?"

Neither of them realised that there was anything wrong with their conversation.

"Even you can't hide those eyebags today. It's a good thing that they're in style now," though she really couldn't fathom why, unless the fashion was for pyjamas, then she could wrap her head around it, "Otherwise your father's team would have to edit the heck out of them."

He shrugged, "That's probably why I was meant to wake up so early in the first place. It's fine. I'll get some sleep later."

"You better!" She placed one hand on her hip and pointed at him lazily before turning her hand over and opening her fingers, "Come on. We don't want to be later than we already are."

He smiled and took her hand, quickly leading her across the hall and up the steps, where the two took a few moments to breathe, let go of each other's hands and finally made their presence known to their class.

"Adrien. Marinette. You're both just in time."

"Sorry- sorry Madame Bustier. I woke up late again."

"I expected that Marinette."

"And I- I had a photoshoot Madame Bustier."

The teacher smiled, amused, "Yes Adrien. I was informed. We're doing a paired project today which you will be starting now and continuing in your free time to be done in three days time. You're the last two here so the two of you will be paired together. I've placed a pack on what the project is so I want the two of you to go through and brainstorm some ideas. We will be doing this until lunch and since today is a half day, I hope the both of you can take some time out of your day today to complete at least half of it. Go take a seat."

They obliged and took a seat where Adrien and Nino usually sat. Nino had been paired with Ivan and Alya had been paired with Kim. Looking at the brief description it seemed that everyone had been paired at random and so Marinette breathed a sigh of relief that she had come at the same time as Adrien. She was really lucky today.

They had no time to think on their earlier interaction.

............

Not even when they were in Marinette's room after lunch, having been granted permission by his father to do their project at her house- he probably didn't want them to make a mess in his perfectly clean mansion. Especially when he was in the middle of designing for the next two seasons. Surprisingly, he even allowed for Adrien to stay until after dinner, which Marinette's parents had been delighted about, always happy to feed an extra mouth.

They didn't even think of it as they started on their project, throwing ideas around and deciding on their best points before delegating tasks they thought would be more suitable for each other for the research portion of their project.

They didn't think of it when they were getting back to each other on their research and jotting down the points they would put together properly the day after.

Even when they were sitting down to eat with her parents as they relayed old memories of their days as a young couple, they hadn't thought back to it.

"I've been meaning to ask," Adrien said to the couple, having gotten more comfortable over the course of their dinner (and now dessert!) after hearing the sweet and funny and sometimes embarrassing stories the two had of their past together, "You have been telling me all of these stories but what about the first time you met? How did that happen?"

Sabine and Tom shared a glance with each other, amused at how invested Adrien (their future son-in-law) was in their love story and one of them were about to speak when Marinette piped up, "Oh! I know this," when Adrien's attention was on her, she continued, " It was when Maman had come to France for the first time. She had come with a friend who knew a few people in France and they had been invited to an event. Coincidentally, Papa was running a delivery for that event but was running slightly late."

"Sounds like someone I know," Adrien snickered before thanking Tom and Sabine who were already clearing the dishes off of the table, decidedly wanting to leave the two alone.

Marinette stood up and rolled her eyes, "Hardy ha Adrien," she walked to the kitchen sink and washed her hands, Adrien following after her, "Anyways, Maman was also running late because she had gotten a little lost and the both of them were running to the same area so eventually they just, collided," she clapped her hands together to demonstrate.

"Marinette dear, careful."

She smiled sheepishly, "Sorry Maman," she waited for Adrien to finish drying his hands and grabbed one of them, "We'll be heading back to my room until his driver comes to pick him up."

"Go on kids. We won't disturb you."

She dragged Adrien up the stairs and hummed quietly, feeling quite refreshed at the way her day had went. Her and Adrien had been in close proximity all day but she didn't stammer, didn't feel nervous, didn't even feel scared to talk to him. She just felt comfortable. Even Alya and Nino had noticed it.

She let go of Adrien's hand when she had to push open her door and she went up first, turning to look at Adrien who was climbing up behind her.

"Uhm... Adrien?" She questioned as she watched him come up, his eyes wide and unfocused, and once he was fully up, she closed the door, "Is everything okay?"

He nodded but at the same time he thumped down to the floor, sitting there, staring at his hands in astonishment. Marinette was more than confused. What was it that had caused him to suddenly act like this?

"Holy fuck."

"Adrien!" Marinette exclaimed, sort of horrified that he had actually swore. Even Nino had said that he had never even caught Adrien slipping a swear word into his vocabulary accidentally!

"How did we just- we just let this go over our heads?" He was still looking at his hands incredulously, though he had turned them over so the silver ring he always wore was practically glinting in her direction.

It was then when she finally let herself remember their earlier conversation word for word and soon, she was sitting on the ground with him, the both of them staring each other like gaping fish in an aquarium.

Adrien was the first to burst out laughing and, suddenly, it reminded her of that one rainy day, the first time she had ever been able to see him laugh as heartily as he did now. She let out some loud giggles, equally as amused as him at the situation they found themselves in.

When they finally managed to compose themselves and stop laughing Marinette cleared her throat and asked, "How long have you known?"

He moved to sit crossed legged and faced her fully, shrugging as he said, "All I can say for definite is that everything dates back to Oblivio and the time we spent trapped without our memories. I don't know if I've always known from that point or if I lost my memories again only to get them back over the course of a few weeks. It just... happened I guess?"

She nodded, shuffling closer to him, "It was the same for me."

"So..." though they had been in a playful mood, the atmosphere became just a bit more serious between them, "You're not disappointed that it's me?"

She shook her head grabbing the hand his ring was in and squeezing it, "Are you seriously asking me this Adrien? How could I be disappointed that the most wonderful boy I know is also my most wittiest, funniest, amazing hero of a partner? I just hope my amazing partner is not disappointed that his partner is just me," she bit the inside of her lip and loosened her grip on his hand, suddenly more conscious of herself.

He noticed- because of course he did- and sighed, letting go of her hand. For a second, she became sad at the loss of contact, but it was short-lived because he opted to drag her into his embrace. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and directed her head to his lean on his chest. It was just the right spot for her to hear his heart beating.

He stroked her hair and rested his chin on top of her head, "Marinette. I wish you knew just how amazing you are. I don't care what anyone else thinks. In my eyes, you are the most phenomenal person I know. Whether as the girl who comes late to class yet still manages to be the most organised and most reliable person in our class, or the girl who day after day goes out in a red and black spotted outfit to fight a fight she could of chosen not to be a part of."

She smiled and moved her head to look up at him, "It was a choice you made as well, Chaton."

He pressed their foreheads together, letting himself get lost in her large bluebell eyes for a few seconds, "And if I had to pick again, I would choose the same."

"As would I," she separated their foreheads and grabbed his face with both hands, "And I guess, since we are on a roll with letting out secrets, I have one thing I want to confess."

"Oh, you do M'lady?" He waggled both of his eyebrows as he grinned, eager to hear what this confession was, "Are you perhaps going to confess your complete and utter infatuation with yours truly?"

She let out a small giggle though she still rolled her eyes at his antics, "As a matter of fact, yes I am. I am completely and utterly in love with you Adrien. Perhaps even more knowing who you are now."

His grin turned into a sincere smile and his eyes shined brightly hearing her words, In that case, I have something to confess also. I am also completely and utterly in love with you Marinette, all parts of you, with my whole heart."

She smiled and dropped her hands, releasing his face. She let him hug her again and they sat there in silence for a few minutes.

Abruptly, spoiling the comfortable silence, she let out a laugh, "Honestly, it's a sigh of relief that I don't have to worry about falling in love with two people anymore."

"I guess both of us fell for each other twice huh?"

She hummed in response, deliriously happy that the both of them were finally able to sort their feelings out together. They would probably talk about it more later, how their love for each other started. When Marinette realised she was in love with his alter ego along with his civilian self and when he realised he was in love with Marinette along with her hero self. They would probably have long winded discussions about why they had denied their feelings for so long and then what happened so that everything just finally made sense to them. The whole Oblivio fiasco would definitely be a topic they would continue to bring up.

She was definitely going to thank Alya and Nino in some way sooner or later for being the catalyst which helped everything to fall right into place.

Right now though, she was more than content to stay in his arms.

However, Adrien's phone buzzed just as she was settled in his arms, relaxed.

Adrien moved one hand to grab his phone from where it was sitting in his inside pocket, causing Marinette to move out of his arms and pout at him, "Do you have to go now?"

He nodded and looked up from his phone, slightly awed at the sight of his lady pouting so cutely, "He's downstairs now," he couldn't help himself and he leaned down to place a small peck on her lips, "I've got to go home."

He stood up and gathered his things, leaving all of the project materials in her room, and she followed him around the room, almost like a little duckling. He turned around once he had gathered everything to tell her, "You don't need to walk me down. If you do, I won't be able to resist kissing you on front of everyone," he was being truthfully serious. That small peck had made him excited as he realised, now that they both knew and they had admitted their feelings for each other, he could kiss her more. And not because an akuma caused them to end up in such a circumstance.

She tilted her head, thinking for a few seconds, before nodding her head, She brought her finger to her lip and tapped, "Then give me another one now."

He snorted, ecstatic that she was accepting his advances with advances of her own and he stepped towards her, capturing her lips before either of them could say anything else. It was longer than the small peck from earlier, but not too long before they broke the kiss.

Adrien leaned into her ear and whispered, "I promise the next time I catch you alone, I am going to kiss you for much longer than this."

She rolled her eyes at him for the thousandth time in that day despite the blush that spread on her cheeks, "You're such a flirt. Go now, before that bodyguard of yours comes storming up to get you," she pushed his shoulder with two fingers and bit back a smile as he gave her a rather mischievous one.

"Ok I'm going now," he said and turned, but then turned back to her and grabbed her hand, lightly kissing her knuckles. Through the smirk of his lips, he looked at her, "Till we meet again my fair lady."

He let go of her hand and disappeared down the steps.

Bonus:

It was the next day, at school when they saw each other again. Or rather, crashed into each other.

The two of them had stayed up until the early hours of the morning, this time not because of an akuma but because they had been on the phone talking about, well, whatever they felt like. Marinette didn't know if she was remembering wrong but she recalled one particular conversation about the local pigeon man and how long it would take for him to become akumatized again.

They both got to class late for the second time that week, being further delayed because they crashed into each other and the contents of Marinette's bag spilled around them. Adrien quickly helped her gather everything which had fallen out, putting it in her bag and dusting it for her. She reached out to take it but, instead of passing it to her, Adrien just grabbed onto her hand and the both of them ran up the stairs together.

Once they reached the top, right in the view of all of their class, some already looking their way. Alya was trying to signal to the two of them to hurry up and get in whilst Madame Bustier's back was turned but, as Marinette was reaching for the door, Adrien tugged on her hand and brought her back to where he was standing.

"Adrien-what?" She looked up at him questioningly, simultaneously trying to bring them both closer to the door. He wouldn't budge and so, with her free hand, she placed it on her hip, slightly annoyed, "Are you gonna let go or are we just going to stand here?"

He pulled her into him, smirking at the shocked reactions of their class as he did, "I thought I told you that the next time I got you alone I would kiss you for much longer."

Both eyebrows shot up and she looked from Adrien, to the window that her class were looking through, to Adrien again, "We're not alone!"

He shrugged unapologetically, "I'm afraid, when it comes to you, I am just a little bit impatient."

She stomped her foot and huffed at him, "Yeah, well-"

She was about to tell him he would have to wait, but he didn't even let the words come out of her mouth. He silenced her by descending his lips onto her slightly parted ones and he ignored the larger shouts and cheers from his classmates as he wrapped an arm around her waist, granting him easier access to let their lips meld together. She tried to protest for a few seconds, albeit very half-heartedly, but eventually, she gave in and kissed back. Using her own hands to wrap around his neck, they came closer, and they stayed like that for longer than even that kiss on the rooftop of the Montparnasse Tower.

When their lips separated, the two smiled at each other, glad that they had been able to get to this point where everything had fallen into place.

A cough from the doorway distracted their thoughts and the two of them turned to find Madame Bustier standing there with a stern but definitely amused look on her face, "As much as we all enjoyed the show, Marinette, Adrien. You're late again."

The two of them looked back at each other, the both of their eyes twinkling playfully as their gazes met. They looked back at their teacher and bowed their head, not looking guilty at all, "We're sorry Madame Bustier."

"An hour's detention after school."

They nodded in sync and entered the class, this time, their hands tightly clasped together, neither wanting to let go.

............

You guys already know I can't help myself with those bonuses.

Also, I'm very sleep deprived as I'm writing this so if this one-shot doesn't make sense, than this is why. I had no idea what I was writing for this anyway, and sleep deprivation made it worse. In addition to this, please don't question the title. I had no idea what else to call it.

Also by the end of this one-shot, Marinette and Adrien are also very sleep deprived and both fell asleep in detention.

When I first put this in my drafts, I swear this was supposed to be an angsty one-shot but then when I got to it I was like: I have already written too much angst in that chapter I was writing for my long fic, so let's do something more humorous. I will break down crying if I have to write more angst today. So this is what we ended up with.

(btw last night when I wrote this, I may or may have not forgotten Monsieur Ramier's name and called him the Local Pigeon Man. For reasons, I am keeping it in)

Completely unrelated but my sister made me watch Yuri on ice and my oh my was that a bad decision because whenever I get introduced to something, it is likely that either I won't be interested at all or I will become completely invested and obsessed with it. No in between.

I'm gonna go sleep now and wake up and comprehend what in the hell I just wrote. (I woke up and wow I'm dying. What is this? I'm just going to leave it as it is though because this is actually a masterpiece and deserves to be shown to the world.)

One more thing before I go, anyone who is reading realms, I will be updating in about an hour or two. I just need to make the last few changes.

See you soon lovelies <3
