earlier that day, chloe -- queen bee, do-gooder, loved-by-all chloe borgeois -- gave her a black and pointy hat, claiming it was the latest style, that "black is this year's pink". and it was only a little bit suspicious for marinette; the blonde hated absolutely everything about her -- and not just because she's that weird green kid, no, it was pure unadulterated loathing. not that marinette minded (since they're roomates and all), the feeling was mutual.

but recently, and quite suspiciously, chloe had been living up to her do-gooder reputation. she helped rose -- "poor, crippled, helpless" rose -- snag a date for the party that would be held later at night (courtesy of herself and newcomer, prince adrien agreste). why would she do that?

marinette thought that the least she could do was get chloe in that magic class she had that the other girl so desperately wanted to be in, and just as marinette was returning after talking to madame mirabeau and convincing her to let chloe in, the girl arrived and gives her this hat. she didn't even get to say the good news.

was she serious? was black really this year's pink?

perhaps marinette should attend that party anyway.
