Home (Marichat)

It hurt. It hurt physically, mentally, and any other way it could possibly hurt. Her body was freezing but she felt nothing as she sat there unmoving.

Darkness surrounded her as she sat on her knees, shaking wildly. The a banded warehouse in front of her stood hauntingly, almost as if it were mocking her for her loss.

The cold wind blew harshly against her delicate skin as numbness draped over her. She held in her tightly closed fist, a silver charm bracelet. One that he gave her. The night before he left. Leaving her for good. Permanently.

The little black cat charm that dangled loosely from the bracelet, lightly chiming against the golden tiara charm.

The black cat and his Princess.

"This is something I need to do, Princess."

"I'll be back in no time."

"It's no biggie. Beating this guy should be a cinche."

"I have to do this for me. For you."

"This isn't good bye Princess. I promise."

"I'll be home in a week, at most."

"I'll come back home, I promise."

"You lied..." Tears rolled down her porcelain cheeks, dropping and splattering onto the cement ground below. "You said it was no biggie, that it was easy!" She suddenly screamed out, letting all of her anger and frustration pour out of her.

"If it was so easy, why didn't you come home?..." She took in a shuddery breath as she tried to regain her cool. "You promise me... You promised me you'd come back home... How are you supposed to do that if you're dead?"

She felt drained. Useless. Nothing. She could have done something. She should have helped him as Ladybug. She should have followed him better. She shouldn't have lost him.

She heard crunching behind her, but she didn't care. If they came back to finish her off, why does it matter? She already felt dead inside without him. Maybe she could avenge her kitty.

The crunching sound came closer but he continued to talk to herself.

"I just wanted you to come home, kitty. I'd do anything for that. It's all I want. I just want you to be home, with me."

The sound stopped but Marinette paid no attention to that, instead staring intently at the silver charm bracelet. With all her strength, she squeezed it, as if it would somehow bring him back.

"I promised you I'd come home, didn't I?"

The honey like voice split the suffocating air, destroying the silence. At first, she couldn't believe it. She had wanted to but she couldn't. It wasn't until his familiar warm, clawed hand touched her shoulder she believed it.

She turned around and was greeted by Chat Noir. He give her a sweet and innocent grin as he held his arms out wide.

"I came home, Princess."

Marinette leapt up, tightly wrapping her arms around his neck, nearly choking him as the two tumbled onto the ground, rustling all the dead leaves.

She had believed them. The news, the rumors. They all said he was dead, that he died fighting a gang leader. She didn't believe it at first, but after he hadn't shown up after a month, she started to believe, falling deeper and deeper into depression.

His arms wrapped themselves around her waist tightly as he buried his nose into her hair.

"They say you died! And you never came back! It was for two months!" She cried into his neck. Her hot salty tears poured onto his collar.

"It took bit longer than expected."

"And you couldn't even come tell me that you were alive?!" She pulled away as she glared at him, her hands on his chest as she pushed herself up.

"Do you even know how I felt? Thinking that you were dead? For two whole months?" She unexpectedly hit his chest with a bruising force. He winced slightly as a continued to listen to her.

"I thought that I'd never get the chance to tell you-" she hiccuped as she stopped herself, punching him one last time.

"Tell me what?"

She didn't answer as she fell against him, hugging him, like if she let go he'd disappear.

"Princess, tell me what?" He held her up as he pressed on, begging her to tell him what she wants to say. Her face contorted into one of anger as she got off of him.

"To tell you that I love you, you idiot!" She yelled angrily as she threw the silver charm bracelet at a confused Chat Noir before turning away. She furiously wiped her tears away with her sleeves as she hiccuped.

She heard him get up but she didn't want to turn around to see him at the moment.

"Princess, why do you think I went after that man?"

"What?" She turned around, her red puffy eyes staring at him in confusion. "Why does that have anything to do with what I just told you?"

"Just answer me." He spoke with a seriousness she had never heard before.

"Because you had to? Because he's a bad guy? I don't know." She ran her palm under her eye as she tried to catch her tears.

"That's not why." He twirled the bracelet between his thumb and pointer finger, stating at it with an intense passion.

"I did it because I love you. That's why I couldn't come back to tell you I was okay. Because I was trying to keep this man away from you. You were his next target. I couldn't let him hurt you. That's why I left home. And I'm sorry you had to go through that, especially by yourself. But I'm not sorry for protecting you."

He moved his gaze from the charm bracelet to Marinette.

"I love you too."

You know, I blame the sad beginning on the one shot book I was reading. But I made it happier right? I promise to make the next couple of chapters all happy.

Until next time, peace!
