Volpina: Part Ten
Volpina approached the scene, flying as fast as she could. When she arrived, it didn't look good.
She found the anti-heroes fighting even more ferociously than ever. They meant business this time. If Volpina thought the earlier battles were bad, this was all-out war.
Volpina landed on the tower and dug through her pack. First things first, Chat Blanc. She grabbed the perfume and put the speaker in an easily accessible place in her bag. Volpina then jumped off of the Eiffel Tower and hovered above the anti-heroes.
"Hey guys, missed me?" She taunted.
Dark Ladybug snarled and almost leaped after her before Chat Blanc held her back. "She's probably just another illusion."
"Oh, not this time, Blanc!" Volpina landed in front of them and cracked her knuckles. "You've got the real deal!"
Dark Ladybug scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Right, as if-"
Her words were cut off as Volpina flew forward and punched her in the guts, launching her backwards.
Chat Blanc charged forward, but before his claws could rake her body, Volpina threw the bottle of perfume at his face. It hit him and shattered on contact.
"Agh! My eyes! My nose! What the-" He rubbed his red, irritated eyes. "Ouch!"
Volpina whipped out her flute and created a special cage over Dark Ladybug. It was made of hundreds of thin metal layers that she could only destroy one at a time. If that didn't tick her off, Volpina didn't know what would.
Turning back to Chat Blanc, she saw that he was essentially blind for the moment. Her perfume was overwhelming his nose, and his eyes were still incredibly red and irritated. While Dark Ladybug was dealing with the layered cage, now was the time to take out Chat Blanc.
Volpina reached into her bag and took out the speaker. Pressing play, she saw Chat Blanc collapse and cover his ears. Volpina followed his example, as she could hear the scathing sound as well. Seeing how drastically Chat Blanc was reacting and writhing in pain, Volpina guessed he probably heard it much louder than she did. Eventually, he stopped struggling and went limp on the ground. Volpina quickly turned off the sound, as she was glad to not hear it anymore. Nino probably forgot that she had the hearing of a fox as Volpina.
Dark Ladybug was still preoccupied with the cage, but Volpina played another few notes on her flute, and made the cage disappear. Volpina saw Dark Ladybug, and what looked like a large glass jar nearby. Dark Ladybug stood up and stumbled, but turned to Volpina.
"You'll pay for that, you-" Dark Ladybug's words faltered and her snarling expression became one of horror. "Chat?"
Volpina, who had been prepared for a fight, was shocked at Dark Ladybug's sudden change in attitude.
"No!" Tears began streaming down her face. She looked around her, and put the pieces back together. "What have I done...?" She looked back at Chat Blanc. "Noooo!" She tried to run towards him, but Volpina held her back. "I killed him! It's all my fault!" Volpina dragged the sobbing girl back to where the glass jar sat. Volpina guessed the jar was the third Lucky Charm.
Dark Ladybug fell to the ground, shaking and sobbing. A purple outline of a butterfly appeared on her face, but Dark Ladybug was having none of it. "No! Go away, Hawkmoth! It's all your fault, you killed him! GO AWAY!" With those last words, a black butterfly flew out of Ladybug's earrings. Volpina unscrewed the lid to the jar and caught the akuma.
Volpina put the jar in her school bag and looked behind her. Ladybug was back to normal. Her costume had lost the dark purple base color and inverted itself back to red, and her blue eyes replaced their threatening purple counterparts.
"What have I done..." Ladybug whimpered.
Volpina got on one knee and became face-to-face with Ladybug. "Don't worry. He's not dead."
She looked up in shock. "Really?!"
Before Ladybug could say any more, Volpina punched her in the face. Unconscious, Ladybug crumbled to the ground.
"I know that wasn't exactly you," Volpina said to herself as she grabbed Ladybugs arm and dragged her over to where Chat Blanc was. "But that was for Eliza."
Volpina grabbed Chat Blanc's arm with her spare hand and flew off before either of them woke up.
