Saving A Life...
It had been a cold winters afternoon when he first came, he had tapped against the hard steel rails they called there window. The 15 year old girl didn't bother to look up, after all she had just endured her first hard day of work and her skinny body could barely hold itself.
However the masked boy continued banging on the steel bars persistently and people around her groaned warnings, mostly of 'I'll get the guards' that would usually shut anyone up but not the masked figure that sat by the window.
The girl slowly lifted her body and her blue eyes stared into mystic green ones, he stopped the banging immediately and tilted his head to the side his long blonde hair falling with his head.
"What do you want?" The girl asked cryptically her tired blue eyes showing no emotion "are you working for them? And your here to get answers"
Confusion filled the green orbs that this masked figure called eyes "no, I'm here to help" he said the girl didn't miss the slight German accent that this boy had, or the way his hand shook like crazy as he pulled something out of his pocket and and held it out for her.
The girl stared at the piece of food as if it was poisoned before she raise her lips into a disgusted smile and began to lay down, the boy fretted by the window.
"Please, I want to help" he called silently "I promise you, I'm not working for them"
The girl sighed "why the mask then?"
"Because it keeps my identity safe, if anyone were to find out I would be killed"
"So without the mask you work for them?"
"I can't exactly say yes or no to that, but that doesn't mean I believe what they're doing is right" the boy answered "names Chat Noir by the way"
"Chat Noir" the girl answered as if tasting the name on her tongue "I'm still unsure about trusting you or not. My name is Marinette"
"Marinette, that is a pretty name" Chat said with a smile "so how did you end up in a dump like this"
"I'm part Chinese, you know 'the beginnings of this dame war'," Marinette answered with a weak shrug "I was assigned to work, but I think it's pretty obvious that I'm a dead beat"
Chat mentally flinch as Marinette ran her hands over her skinny figure. It was at that moment he realised how bad things were, it was at that moment he knew he had to help.
~
Days rolled into weeks and weeks rolled into a month Marinette's friendship with Chat grew as did her agitation to get out of that place. It had been Chat's promise from the beginning that they would one day escape.
One day however when Marinette had the strength to try, she began climbing up the hard wire fence only to be plucked down by a guard and dragged off to what must've been the office of the general.
The general had what looked to be dark grey eyes and rusty blonde hair, he was writing something when the guard roughly pushed Marinette into the room, the two spoke briefly, in German, a language Marinette didn't understand.
"Where are you taking me?" Marinette asked as the guard dragged her down the long hall, the guard said nothing just dragged her roughly down the hall.
"I'm sorry Chat" Marinette thought to herself as a tear slipped down her cheek "I'm sorry for being impatient"
The next moment passed in a blur as the guard tumbled to the ground and warm arms enveloped Marinette's waist, she no longer cared if they meant danger as she was going to die anyway.
"It's okay" his gentle voice enveloped her ears "I got you, but we've got to get out of here"
Chat held her close to his chest before he jumped out of the hole in the roof he had made to find her and he scurried across the concrete rooftops and made a clear jump over the fence.
~
Marinette wasn't sure how long they had been traveling for but the weather had definitely changed from a frosty cold to an almost humid warm.
She cracked an eye open to find she was lying on a medium sized log with a wool skin covering her, a fire crackled nearby and her stomach growled.
"Well good afternoon" Chat said as she slowly stood up.
"Where are we?"
"A safe place" Chat said "I won't bore you with the details of our exact location but just know that your safe"
"How do you know?" Marinette asked
"We're in a forest" Chat stated "they don't believe that anyone will last five days in here, so they won't send scouts"
"But it's so full of life why wouldn't they"
Chat shrugged "tigers, spiders, snakes anything venomous"
"Then why are we out here"
"I'm known around here, nothing would dare attack us"
"Whatever you say cat boy"
