Tricks and Treats
"It's not too bad, right?" Marinette asked curiously, turning around to face Alya. Her little red riding-hood cape swayed behind her.
"You look great," Alya smiled. She was wearing a Halloween outfit of her own; a Ladybug costume. The spotted spandex suit covered her head to toe, every detail being perfect. The only thing Alya wasn't wearing yet was the mask, which was also made with great craftsmanship. Marinette was very impressed.
"I like your costume as well. It's spot on," Marinette grinned.
"Girl. The puns," Alya laughed.
"I know, sorry," Marinette said, scratching the back of her head. "They kind of wore off on me from a friend."
"I see," Alya nodded, an interested glint in her eye. "Who is this friend?"
Marinette widened her eyes. "N-no one!"
"Chill out," Alya laughed, rolling on her back. "I'm just messing with you."
Marinette nervously glanced at her phone. The time was 5:56. "We'd better get going. Trick or Treat starts at 6 o'clock."
"Sweet," Alya said, standing up and rubbing her hands together. "I don't care what anyone says. Halloween is my night and they'll be mistaken if they think I'm gonna miss getting free candy."
Marinette turned to her mirror and touched up her costume. She wore a blue and white checkered dress with a red cloak tied around her neck. She wore white tights underneath and finished off the look with black flats. Her raven-colored hair was out of their usual pigtails and flourished just past her shoulders.
"Too bad Adrien couldn't come with us," Alya suddenly said. A wide smirk branded her face as she nudged Marinette on the arm with her elbow.
"Yeah. He said he had to pass out candy with his father," Marinette sighed.
"Now that right there is spooky," Alya remarked. "Since when did Gabriel Agreste participate in trick or treat?"
"I don't know, maybe he's changing for the better?" Marinette shrugged.
"I guess," Alya replied. She then grabbed an empty pillow cover off Marinette's bed after glancing at the clock. "Well, time to go!"

The two girls walked down the chilly streets of Paris, kids running past them. Their poor parents struggled to keep up behind them.
One little girl in particular stopped right in front of Alya, pointing at her. "You're Ladybug!" she exclaimed with bright eyes.
"That's right!" Alya chuckled, crouching beside her.
"Can I have a picture?" the little girl asked curiously. The presumed mother walked up behind her.
"Sure!" Alya replied happily. She turned to Marinette. "Sorry, one sec girl."
"It's fine," Marinette smiled back, although she felt a little awkward. How ironic; the actual Ladybug was standing right in front of the little girl.
Alya posed with the little girl as her mom took the picture. The brunette grinned widely, her hands defiantly on her hips.
"Thank you!" the little girl chimed after the picture was taken.
"No problem!" Alya winked.
Marinette chuckled as the two began walking again. "You handled that like a pro."
Alya glanced over at Marinette. "What can I say? I've seen Ladybug up close before."
"Nice," Marinette grinned amusingly. "She could be closer than you think."
Alya slapped Marinette on the arm. "Don't joke around like that."
"Sorry," Marinette shrugged playfully. Her eyes then darted to a nearby house. The front porch light was on, indicating that they were participating in trick or treat. "Let's go over there for our first stop."
"Fine by me."
They skipped up the sidewalk to the house, their pillowcases opened wide. Alya knocked excitedly on the door.
A few seconds passed before the door swung open, and Max was standing there with a bucket of candy under his arm. He didn't look too happy.
"Max!" Marinette exclaimed. "What's wrong?"
"Couldn't go trick or treating?" Alya chimed in.
"No," Max sighed, scooping up the candy and throwing a handful in each pillowcase. "My mother assigned me the duty of passing out candy. When really, I would much rather prefer working on my Physics assignment."
"Ooooookay," Alya said, an eyebrow raised. "I'd say you're the first person I've met who'd rather do homework than getting free candy."
Max shrugged, propping his glasses up on his nose.
"Well," Marinette said quickly. "Thank you Max! Happy Halloween."
He nodded before closing the door.
"Honestly, I'm not surprised," Alya chuckled as the two girls walked away.
"Where should we go next?" Marinette asked, glancing around.
"Ah," Alya said slowly. She tugged at Marinette's arm, causing her to look over. Her heart skipped a beat. Directly ahead of them was Adrien's mansion. Kids were at the front door, happily accepting candy from the boy himself. He wore a soft smile as he handed a generous amount of candy to the kids.
"Let's go get candy from Adrien," Alya smirked.
"No!" Marinette squeaked, feeling her face heat up. "W-what if I make a fool out of myself?"
Alya started dragging Marinette across the sidewalk and towards the Agreste mansion. "Don't worry," she said. "Everything will go smoothly."
"That's a lie," Marinette sighed, staring at her feet as she was pulled across the sidewalk. "I know once I open my mouth, it's downhill from there."
"Nonsense," Alya said. "Say hi."
Marinette's eyes quickly darted upwards, her heart pounding. In front of her, she saw Adrien and his angelic smile staring back.
"Hi Marinette," he said coolly.
"H-hi," Marinette stuttered. She shakily held out her candy bag, unable to do anything else. Her mind was on stun. "Trick or treat?"
Idiot! Marinette yelled in her head. Why would you do that? He's trying to have a conversation with you!
"Of course," Adrien laughed, grabbing a handful of candy and dropping it in Marinette's bag.
"T-thank," Marinette faltered, "you."
Adrien nodded before his gaze shifted to Alya. His eyes danced up and down amusingly. "I like your costume," he remarked.
"Thanks," Alya replied.
Marinette watched her friend's face for the longest time. She didn't dare look over at Adrien, for she felt like she would faint.
"I like yours too, Marinette," he then said.
That did it.
Marinette felt her knees buckle slightly, but she forced herself to stay standing. She couldn't believe Adrien complimented her costume! She thought she was living a dream. "W-well, I like you! AH! I mean-"
"You okay?" Adrien asked her worriedly.
"Yeah!" Marinette said after taking a deep breath. She nodded her head up and down, playfully giving him the finger guns. "Just tricking you!"
Adrien grinned, setting the bucket of candy down. "Nice. Then consider this a treat." He leaned in forward and planted a kiss right on Marinette's cheek.
She stared ahead, her mouth open in awe. Her cheek was tingling.
Did he... kiss... ME?! she thought excitedly.
Alya stared in shock, her hand placed over her mouth. Adrien had that cheeky Chat Noir smile on his face.
"Girl, this is one Halloween you'll never forget," Alya said slowly.
