Chapter 15: Stormy Weather Part 3

"All 'Hail' The Queen!" Stormy Weather shouted out before raising her parasol into the air, making a hailstorm with softball sized hail appear. Chat Noir barely had any time to grab Ladybug, pull her in front of him, and spin his staff to make a shield to protect them from the hail.

"So what's the plan for getting the akuma back? My arm's starting to get a cramp!" Chat Noir warned, while Ladybug began to make her plan.

Looking around, she saw a metal pipe connected to the main building, a HVAC tube on the roof of the stairwell, a metal crane, the bath towel around her arm, and the giant sign. Immediately, Ladybug knew what to do.

"See that sign over there?" Ladybug asked, looking back up at Chat Noir, as she pointed to the billboard in front of them.

"Check it out!" The spotted heroine exclaimed, letting Chat Noir quickly understand her plan.

"All right. !" Chat Noir summoned, as the hail came to a stop.

"Hey, Coldilocks! Is that all you got?" the feline hero taunted, clenching his fist to keep his power contained as he, just before he made his move.

As Ladybug got back up to her feet, Chat Noir ran to the billboard, making Stormy Weather attack him with lightning as he advanced. But he merely changed directions to avoid being hit, even jumping onto the multiple components to the central air conditioning.

Despite Stormy Weather's constant onslaught of blasts, he made it to his goal, then slid along the length of the billboard and used his Cataclysm to corrode the main support of the sign. The billboard began to fall down, right toward Stormy Weather.

Ladybug then wrapped her yo-yo around Stormy Weather's ankle, while the villain was occupied with saving herself, blasting a hole into the falling sign. As Stormy Weather attempts to escape, the corner of the sign crashes into the HVAC tube Ladybug saw earlier, knocking it off to reveal the vent underneath it.

The spotted hero took off running, sliding under the pipe connected to the main building and jumped against the slow rotating crane before she landed over the HVAC vent. Opening the towel while she held her yo-yo, Ladybug soars in the air, pulling Stormy Weather down as well.

The scream from Stormy Weather made Ladybug smile as the akuma fell past her. And thanks to the angle of the crane, her parasol was knocked out of her hand, flying into the air before Chat Noir jumped up and caught it. He tossed it to Ladybug as she returned to the ground, just after Stormy Weather landed on top of the billboard.

"Get out of here, you nasty bug!" Ladybug exclaimed as she caught and broke the parasol over her knee, throwing the remains to the ground.

A second later, the akuma flew out and away from the parasol, causing Ladybug to pull out her yo-yo.

"No more evil for you!" Ladybug cheered as she caught the butterfly in her yoyo's pool of cleansing energy.

"Bye, bye little butterfly," Ladybug farewelled as the butterfly flew away. After that, she grabbed the towel and threw it into the air.

"Miraculous Ladybug!" With another whoosh, the damage that was caused is fixed, and turns the weather back to normal.

A swarm of magical ladybugs swept over to the park, melting the glacier around the merry-go-round.

"And after defeating the three-headed dragon with...Huh?...Taekwondo..." Alya trailed off in relief as she noticed that the ice dome was disappearing in a cloud of steam. The firefighters high-five each other, glad that the two girls are freed from the icey prison.

"The princess kissed her Prince Charming and..." Alya excitedly continued as she swept Manon into her arms, walking away from the merry-go-round.

"They lived happily ever after?" Manon wondered, thinking the story ended like all other fairy tales.

"Uh, sure. Until they had a dozen or so little monkeys like you who drove them crazy!" Alya teased, making Manon giggle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over at the KIDZ+ building, Stormy Weather turned back into Aurore, who looked around in confusion when she saw that she's on the roof.

"Uh, what am I doing up here?" Aurore wondered, while Chat Noir and Ladybug stood a few feet away from her.

"Pound it!" The two heroes exclaimed as they fist-bumped, proud that they took care of yet another supervillain.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Hawkmoth's lair, the resident super villain was enraged that his latest akuma (the most powerful one to date) was defeated.

"Someday, your Miraculous will be all mine. I don't care how many enemies I need to throw out to win, but I will be victorious!" Hawkmoth proclaimed as the lair window closed up, leaving the middle-aged man in total darkness.

A while later, Marinette had gotten back to the park, and ran towards Alya and Manon while they waited at the merry-go-round. But before she could get any further, Tikki poked her head out from the girl's purse.

"Hey, there's the photographer and Adrien waiting for you!" Tikki exclaimed as she pointed at the group in question, making Marinette stop in her tracks.

"You don't think it's too late?" Marintee asked her kwami as she looked down at Tikki, wondering if she had missed her chance.

"Come on, Marinette. You saved Manon, and the whole world for that matter. Have some fun!" Tikki encouraged, hoping Marinette would take some time for herself, since she rarely did so.

"Marinette!" A voice called out. Marinette then looked around for the source of the voice, only to see it was Manon as she ran to her with Alya following behind. Marinette smiled as she crouched down and swept the little girl into her arms.

"I know what your secret is!" Manon sang, much to Marinette's panic.

"W-w-what secret?" Marinette stammered out, worried that Manon found out that she was Ladybug.

"Ladybug is your best friend! That's how you both always know what the other one's gonna do!" Manon exclaimed, not knowing just how close she was to the truth, but was still so far away from finding out.

"Huhhh... Phew!" Marinette sighed, relieved that no one had found out.

But Marinette soon placed her back onto the ground and the three girls walked towards the photoshoot.

"Can I have a lollipop? Can I? Can I? Can I?" Manon asked repeatedly, hoping that Marinette would cave in.

But she was in for a surprise when her babysitter said...

"No, Manon. I have something important to do," Marinette replied, putting her foot down, much to Alya's pride.

"Alya, you'll watch her, yeah?" the designer asked, to which Alya nodded in response, which allowed Marinette to run towards Adrien and the photoshoot that was about to commence.

"I'm ready for the photoshoot!" Marinette exclaimed as she ran to the photographer, and Adrien, who seemed happy to have her there with him. But before she could say more, the photographer had other ideas.

"Wait. Who is that angel?!" Vincient squealed as he looked at Manon, ugaling at the adorable little girl. Manon looked around to see who it was that the photographer was referring to, only to realize it was her.

A few seconds later, Vincent had Adrien posing with the little girl, taking photos of the two of them.

"Hohoho! Stupendous! Magnifico! Perfecto! ..." Vincent gushed as he continued to take Adrien and Manon's pictures, while Marinette could only watch in disappointment.

'So much for my chance to get closer to Adrien,' Marinette thought to herself. Alya, seeing how upset her BFF was, wrapped her in a 'behind her back' hug, making Marinette smile. At least she had Alya.

There would be plenty of other opportunities.

Over in Arcadia, Jim and Toby were in the kitchen, ready to make an early lunch and late breakfast, just as Jim's phone buzzed. The boy pulled it out of his pocket as he and Toby walked towards the kitchen counter, arms full of ingredients to make lunch.

"Is that the Parisian news?" Toby asked, as he went to the cabinet, and pulled out an enameled baking dish. He placed it on the counter, while Jim knelt down to another cabinet to get out a stockpot.

"Looks like it. Marinette said that the akuma was a weather themed one the last time we spoke," Jim explained, putting the stockpot down before opening up his phone to the Parisian News app, as Toby opened up a drawer to get a box grater.

When Toby turned around and placed the grater onto the counter, he stood next to Jim as he opened it up. But to their shock, they saw articles about an akuma named...

"Stormy Weather? Seriously?" Toby questioned, in both confusion and slight unbelievability, while Jim went to another cabinet to get more cooking equipment.

"This has to be the most abstract akuma name to date," the rotund boy stated, while Jim got out what they needed to make dessert after the lasagna was done.

"It is a surprise. Marinette didn't actually mention her name, just that she could control the weather," Jim explained, shocking Toby.

"Are you freaking kidding me? She had time to talk to you during the attack, but she didn't mention the akuma's name?" Toby questioned, just as Jim turned to another drawer, and got a small offset spatula, serving spatula, and oven mitts.

"Hey, uh, could you get the stuff I use to make salads, please?" Jim asked, bringing Toby out of his shock, while pointing towards another cabinet.

"Oh um, sure," Toby said before he went to the cabinet, getting the stuff for salad prep, and putting all of it onto the counter.

"Weird, I know. But hey, we can read the article while I get lunch ready," Jim pointed out, excited to find out more about the latest akuma.

"Sounds good. By the way, what's on the menu for today, Chief Jimbo?" Toby asked, as he rubbed his hands together in anticipation of the delicious meal.

"We are making three cheese lasagna, with homemade pasta sauce, minced meat, with a cucumber and tomato side salad. And to top it all off, chocolate brownies for dessert!" Jim listed off as he rolled up his sleeves, ready to get cooking.

The sun had set about two hours ago, and night had once more come to the city. Marinette was currently sitting at her computer, tired from the day's events.

But she was excited to share said events with her brothers as she started making a crochet pattern for Toby's 'Geode Beanie', waiting for her brother to call.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Jim and Toby were just putting the cooled brownies onto a plate. They had already cut portions of the freshly made lasagna for lunch and packed up the rest for later.

They had also read the article of the akuma attack during their cooking... or more like Toby helping with prep, and Jim doing the cooking. And to say that they found the akuma wicked powerful/dangerous, was a severe understatement.

"I honestly think that Hawkmoth is trying to kill them at this point. I mean, it wouldn't be totally out of the realm of possibility," Toby pointed out. The amount of power Stormy Weather had made him worry about Marinette-and to a lesser extent, Chat Noir's-safety. They could have been killed in that attack today.

"I'm starting to think that too, Tobes," Jim admitted as they took their plates, and sat at the dining table to eat the fruits of their labor.

As soon as everything was on the table, Jim pulled out his phone from his pocket again, and dialed Marinette's contact.

"Time for our daily recap/update," Toby stated. As soon as they were settled, the video call opened up, making Marinette appear on the screen.

Once she was on the screen, Marinette stopped working on her project so Toby would be surprised when the time was right, and smiled at them.

"Hi boys, how are you?" Marinette asked, as Jim leaned his phone against the flower vase on the table, both boys simply bursting at the seams with questions.

"Hawkmoth is trying to kill you at this point!!" Toby exclaimed after Marinette greeted them, causing her to roll her eyes.

"Hello to you too, Tobes. And yes, I think he might be trying to as well. Stormy Weather was pretty intent on killing, or at the very least, severely hurting us," Marinette stated, thinking about how close they were to biting the big one that day.

"Yeah, she was!" Jim exclaimed as he dug into his lasagna, Toby doing the same, although a little more messy. The boy's cooking was delicious, so of course he would be a little messy at times... if not all the time.

"You think? I still say Hawkmoth was crazy to even akumatize her. She sounds nuts," Toby said, his mouth smeared with pasta sauce.

"I don't think that's the case, considering he's intent on taking our miraculous. But are you guys ready for the more exciting side of the story?" Marinette asked, already knowing that the boys would say...

"YES!!! OF COURSE!!" The two of them exclaimed, before they dug into more of their lunch.

"Okay, so starting off before Jim called me during the akuma...." Marinette started, explaining her sudden responsibility of babysitting Manon, causing her brothers to wince at her bad fortune.

They heard from Marinette how much of a little terror the five-year-old could be, and they promised themselves to not get stuck with babysitting her if the day came. Not that Marinette would let that happen, but they could certainly try.

The two boys did take the chance to tease her about her 'always eager to please' nature, much to Marinette's exasperation. But when she had told them about Alya coming to tell her about Adrien's photoshoot, they were quick to guess Marinette had zoomed over there as quickly as she could, with Manon and Alya in tow.

When she got to explaining about the events after arriving in the park, and about Manon taking advantage of her, her brothers couldn't resist the urge to laugh.

"What's so funny?" She asked, not understanding why they were laughing so hard.

"What's funny is that you were being bossed around by a five year old girl." Toby manages to respond as he wipes away a stray tear from his eye.

"You have to admit, it's kind of funny, when you think about it." Jim pointed out as he caught his breath, clutching onto his sides as he tried to calm down.

"Okay, yeah, laugh it up." Marinette deadpanned, annoyed that her brothers found joy in her suffering.

"Anyways, so after I got her the balloon..." the designer continued, explaining how Adrien's photoshoot needed an extra, which made Jim choke on his food in shock. Did his little sister really have more game than him?

After the initial freak out, Marinette continued to explain Stormy Weather's attack at the park, her trying to free the trapped Alya and Manon from the Merry-Go-Round after transforming. She then told them of joining up with Chat Noir and defeating the akuma on the roof of the KIDZ+ building in the eye of a hurricane. All and all, Jim and Toby were thoroughly entertained.

"That's amazing!" Toby exclaimed, as he went into the kitchen to get the brownies from the counter, since he and Jim had finished lunch during Marinette's story.

"It wasn't that amazing. The wind attacks from earlier alone left bruises," Marinette groaned, since she didn't really have fun with this akuma.

"Speaking of the akuma, what happened after?" Jim asked as Toby came back and placed the plate of brownies onto the table. He then sat back down, where they started to eat the brownies, as a tense smile bloomed on their sister's lips.

"Well... I got back to the park, and Alya and Manon were freed from the ice dome. After that, I tried to join the photoshoot, but..." Marinette trailed off, which intrigued her brothers, who already finished eating half of the brownies.

"What happened?" Toby asked, since... Marinette always seemed to always get the short end of the stick.

"The photographer saw Manon and had her pose with Adrien in the photoshoot instead," Marinette admitted, as she looked down at the ground. She didn't want to see her brother's reactions over the... turn of events.

They couldn't keep themselves from laughing.

"Oh my god... seriously? That is... the most... hilarious incident to date!!" Jim manages to say through his laughter, as Mairnette deadpanned at them once again.

"Alright, we're done," Toby reassured as he caught his breath, then with Jim soon following.

"Looks like I still have more game than you. Huh, sis?" Jim questioned, to which Marinette rolled her eyes at the comment.

"You? Have more game? Please, you can't even go near Claire without melting into a pile of goo," Marinette brought up, making Toby start to laugh his heart out. The two's interactions when it comes to their crushes... it was priceless, and he had a front row seat for all of it.

"Thank God that he decided to place two highly awkward siblings in my life. This is too much!!" Toby laughed out, causing Marinette and Jim's eyes to widen in shock.

"Toby!!!" the siblings exclaimed, just as Jim's mom just walked into the dinning room, all dressed for a day in the hospital. The two boys groaned in disappointment, knowing that Marinette couldn't talk more with Jim' mom present.

But they quickly covered that up with strained smiles as Barbara approached.

"Hey boys, I hope you slept well. Hello Marinette," Barbara greeted as she grabbed her bag, waving at her son's sister, and looking like she had been called in at the last minute.

"Hey, Aunt Barbara! Are you heading into the hospital?" Marinette asked.

"Yes, Wanda called me in for an emergency. Some boy had accidentally split open his wrist in a bike crash." Barbara explained, causing the three of them to wince at the description.

"Yeah, I know. But while I'm gone, Jim, I need you to clean the living room," Barbara stated, causing Jim to nod his head, eager to help his mom in any way he could.

"Got it, Mom." Jim responded as he picked up the plates from the table, and walked back to the kitchen. This allowed Barbara to steal one of the leftover brownies from the plate, and take a bite out of it.

"Mmm, delicious as always, honey," Barbara praised, before she started to walk to the door, as Jim started wrapping up the leftover brownies for a later date.

"See you tonight, boys. It was nice seeing you, Marinette," The brown-orange haired doctor said as she waved at the three of them.

"Nice seeing you too, Aunt Barbara," Marinette replied, with a wide smile. She always liked seeing her aunt, even if it was through a screen.

"See ya, Doctor L," "Bye, Mom," Toby and Jim farewelled at the same time as they waved goodbye. With that she walked through the door, leaving the kids alone.

"Looks like we got to go, Mari. We'll talk to you tonight," Toby said, turning to the phone as it sat on the table.

"That's okay. I've just got to talk to Jim about something and then go to sleep anyway," Marinette admitted, stifling a yawn, while Jim peaks out through the counter window to join back up with the conversation.

"What do you mean, talk to me about something?" Jim asked, as he took care of cleaning the dishes.

"Si tratta di una sorpresa per Toby, (It's about a surprise for Toby,)" Marinette replied in Italian, trying not to give away why she was asking to speak with Jim in private. Hopefully Toby wouldn't want to pry.

"Okay, she is speaking in Italian, and I know that's your guy's thing. I'll take care of the dishes, you two talk," Toby said, pushing Jim away from the sink and taking over for him. He knew them long enough that when they started to speak in Italian, it was meant to be between the two of them. At least until they decided to tell others.

"Thanks Tobes." Jim said before he headed into the dining room, and sat at the table.

"Ok, di cosa si tratta 'una sorpresa per Toby'? (Okay, what is this about 'a surprise for Toby'?) Jim asked, just before his sister pulled out the 'Geode Beanie' she was crocheting before they called her. She also pulled out the drawing she made the night before as well.

"Sto realizzando per Toby una versione più casual del "Geode Hat" che può indossare con il suo abbigliamento normale. E ho anche in programma di realizzare il "Geode Hat" per il suo compleanno e di inviarglielo, (I'm making Toby a more casual version of the 'Geode Hat' that he can wear with his normal attire. And I'm also planning to make the 'Geode Hat' for his birthday and send it to him,)" Marinette explained as she showed him the design she had planned.

The beanie itself was a dark gray, and resembled the 'Geode Hat' in the design of the geode crown. But it would all be crocheted, making it a much more casual version of the haute couture derby hat Marinette had designed earlier. All in all, Jim was impressed, and slightly jealous.

"Sembra incredibile!! Toby lo adorerà! E ad essere sincero, sono un po' geloso. Ottiene un cappello di alta moda e una versione a berretto. Cosa ottengo? (It looks amazing!! Toby is going to love it! And to be honest, I'm a little jealous. He gets a haute couture hat, and a beanie version of it. What do I get?) Jim asked, as well as griped that Toby seemed to be getting the best swag out of the two of them.

"Ho alcune cose in lavorazione anche per te, non preoccuparti. Ma mi conosci, non sto dando spoiler quando è il tuo regalo. Perché pensi che volessi parlarti in italiano? Non volevo che Toby lo scoprisse, (I've got some stuff in the works for you too, don't worry. But you know me, I'm not giving any spoilers when it's your gift. Why do you think I wanted to talk to you in italian? I didn't want Toby to find out,)" Marinette reassured, letting Jim know he wasn't left out of the loop. Like she would forget about her big brother.

"Accidenti, mi hai tenuto lì per un secondo. Ma in tutta serietà, Toby adorerà il cappello e il berretto. Scommetto che inizierà a indossare il berretto il prima possibile, (Whew, you had me there for a second. But in all seriousness, Toby's going to love the hat and beanie. I bet he's going to start wearing the beanie as soon as possible,)" Jim stated, making Marinette smile again. That was the plan after all.

"Grazie Jim. Sai sempre cosa dire. Bene, quando si tratta di questo genere di cose. Sai cosa intendo, (Thanks Jim. You always know what to say. Well, when it comes to this sort of thing. You know what I mean,) Marinette thanked while making a little jab at his inability to not be able to talk to Claire.

But then again, she wasn't much better. Maybe it was genetic.

"Pot calling the kettle black sis," Jim teased in English, just as Toby finished the dishes.

"Yeah, I know," Marinette responded, a sly smirk on her face as she looked at the time, seeing that they had been talking for a while.

It might have been the weekend for Jim and Toby, but she had school tomorrow.

"Oh man, it's gotten so late. I can't miss any more sleep or I won't be able to function at all tomorrow," Marinette explained as Toby walked to the table and sat down next to Jim.

"Yeah, and nobody wants to see that," Toby agreed, knowing full well what Marinette was like when she didn't get any sleep. It was not pretty.

"Ha ha, very funny," Marinette deadpanned, annoyed with how they knew just how to roast her.

"We'll see you tomorrow, sis," Jim said as he reached for his phone.

"See you guys later. Bye boys," Marinette replied, waving at them through the screen.

"Bye, Mari," The boys farewelled, waving back right before the screen turned black, the call over.

"So, what did you two talk about?" Toby asked, making Jim turn to his best friend in surprise.

"What? Like I wouldn't ask about what you guys were talking about. Especially when it's about me," Toby stated, making Jim shake his head in fondness. Of course he would ask.

"Not saying anything. You'll just have to wait, and see," Jim replied, much to Toby's disappointment.

"Oh, come on Jimbo!" Toby exclaimed, making Jim smile as he walked back into the kitchen to start on cleaning the living room. Toby then slouched in the chair in an attempt to convince Jim to have mercy on him.

Fortunately for Jim, he knew all of Toby's tricks, and was immune to them by now.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back over in Paris, Marinette had put her project away, climbed into her loft, and crawled under her covers to fall asleep, ready to start a new day.
