Truth and Revelation
Dawson, after he managed to free himself from the spear, ran as fast as he could towards the collapsing pile of toys in search of his friends.
"Basil! Ladybug!"
"I'm here"
The doctor turned to his right and saw the young woman come out from among the toys. At first glance she looked like she was fine, but Dawson knew she wasn't from the pained expression on her face.
"My dear, are you alright?" Dawson asked, approaching the heroine with concern.
"Yes, it's nothing," she answered, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Where's Basil?"
Ladybug looked worried at the chaos of toys. Without saying anything, she ran towards the mess. As she got closer she heard a doll say "Mama" several times. Between her and Dawson they moved a drum and a toy boat, looked up and saw Basil alive and in one piece with relief. However, he was hanging upside down with his feet entangled in a doll's rope and so the doll kept saying 'Mama' and the detective bobbing up and down—ironically— like a yoyo while he struggled to extricate himself.
Dawson and Ladybug ran towards him.
"Basil!" the doctor called. "Olivia... she's..."
"She's gone." Basil avoided. "Dawson! Confound it!" he yelled as soon as he was down and at the doctor's height, even if it was only for a few seconds. "I told you to watch over the girl!" He scold him. At last, he was able to free himself and fell face first to the ground. He sat up, pulling the Inverness cape off his head and turned his attention to Ladybug. "And I told you to take responsibility for her properly!"
"Excuse me? It's what I did from the beginning. If there's anyone to blame, it's you!" the heroine defended herself. "If you had believed me when I told you where I saw Fidget, let me take Olivia out from the beginning, but most of all trusted me THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED! And in case you forgot, Mr. I Do Everything My Way, Chat Noir is with her!
"Oh, what a relief! The girl is safe next to a young man WHO COULD NOT PROTECT HIMSELF! Now because of both!" Basil looked at Dawson, who cringed at his harsh words. Ladybug clenched her right fist, which was trembling because the young woman wanted to hit the detective in the face, but she held her fist with her other hand to contain herself. "Now they're been spirited away by that maniacal little monster. Soon to be in the clutches of the most depraved mind in all of London! I should have known better than to..."
Basil broke off as he turned to face them, but as he did so he received a sharp blow to his left cheek causing him to lose his balance and nearly fall. He touched his cheek and looked dumbfounded at Ladybug. The coccinellid-rodent was crying, and despite the tears, Basil could see various emotions in them: sadness, anger, regret, guilt and... disappointment? That last emotion unnerved him.
"WHAT'S YOUR DAMN PROBLEM WITH WOMEN? WHY THE FUCK DO YOU DESPISE ME RIGHT AWAY? DO YOU THINK FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT YOU ARE A MAN YOU ARE BETTER THAN ME? THANKS TO YOUR MACCHISM, OR SHOULD I SAY MISOGYNY, YOU DIDN'T LISTEN TO ME AND THAT CAUSED FIDGET TO TAKE OLIVIA AND CHAT NOIR!
»I don't know what the fuck caused that, but just fucking understand I can do the same as you, dare I even say better! And you know what? You're right! If anyone's to blame for Fidget taking them, it's me! I assured I would protect Olivia and I couldn't do it! I couldn't protect my friend either!
Basil and Dawson stared at the young woman in astonishment, especially the detective. The mouse made a move to approach the girl, but backed away as she fell to her knees and covered her face with her hands. Ladybug spoke again. Dawson didn't understand her, but Basil did, even though she spoke in a whisper and not because she said it in Spanish, leaving him genuinely surprised.
"Y pensar que podría hacer equipo con quien siempre he admirado y por eso me vestí así. Soy una idiota."(And to think that I could team up with someone I've always admired and that's why I dressed like that. I am an idiot.)
The detective was speechless. Right, ever since he became known as The Great Mouse Detective of London, many people (mostly children) looked up to him. But this was the first time a woman had told him and she even wanted to test her worth. For the first time in his life, Basil hated himself for treating a person badly. He sighed slightly, wanting to try to help her calm down from her, he held out her hand.
"Miss... I mean, Ladybug. I..."
The heroine slapped the detective's hand away. She got up, brushed past Basil, tapping him carelessly on the shoulder, and walked away from him and Dawson. Ladybug put her head in her hands and then she felt that she had something on. He took it off and saw it; even though he had just said it, he completely forgot that when he transformed, he changed his suit and instead of his usual headband-ribbon he now wore a deerstalker. She crushed the hat in fury and pain, threw it on the ground and hid behind a jack-in-the-box. She sat up and hugged her knees in defeat.
—Spot Off
The pink light of retransformation ran through her body and Tikki stood in front of her. The kwami looked sad at her bearer without knowing what to say, she had never seen Alex so sad. She knelt before the Latina and spoke to her gently.
—Alex
Without looking at the kwami, the young woman went to her, hugged her and began to cry. She knew she was being childish in reacting like this to an animated character was created by the power of a Papillombre's akuma, but she couldn't help it; He was her favorite character since she was a child and as soon as she found out what was happening, she was excited and believed it would be exciting and fun to live that adventure like in the movie. How naive she had been.
Basil watched the young woman walk away, take off her hat, throw it on the ground, and hide. He looked at Dawson, and the doctor waved his hands at him, encouraging him to go to her and talk. Basil sighed; it had been a long time since he spoke to a woman outside of the workplace. He knew it wasn't just her fault, it was his too, but seeing her carry all that guilt and blame herself wasn't going to change anything.
He picked up Ladybug's deerstalker, brushed the dirt off it carefully, and walked over to her. He was a few steps from the young woman when he heard her say 'Spot off'; where the coccinellid-rodent was, a pink light appeared and immediately the deerstalker disappeared from his hands in a pink light. What the hell was that? He moved forward again, this time cautiously, and heard a strange, high-pitched voice say 'Alex' and then a cry.
«Alex. So that's Ladybug's real name.» The mouse thought.
"Basil."
The detective looked over his shoulder at the doctor. Dawson also went over to comfort the girl and also saw the strange pink light. They both approached slowly.
"A-" Basil broke off. He was about to call her by her real name and he wasn't supposed to know that. "Ladybug?"
Alex fell silent abruptly. She move away from Tikki without letting go of her and they both looked at each other scared. They completely forgot they were not alone.
"My girl, you shouldn't feel bad about what happened, it's not your fault." Dawson said, approaching slowly. "It's mine too. I should have watched her more closely."
Footsteps were heard approaching. Alex and Tikki got to their feet and before they could do anything, Dawson leaned out.
"My dear, are you...? Oh my! What...? Whose...?"
"NO!"
It was late for Tikki to hide, but the most important thing was to protect the identity of her bearer. She stood before Alex hiding her, causing Dawson to see the kwami.
"Doc, stay away! Go away!" Alex asked.
"Amazing!" said the doctor. "Ladybug, is that you?"
Hearing this, bearer and kwami couldn't help but laugh. Once calm, Alex sighed. Characters or not, akuma creations or not, Basil and Dawson were the only thing the Latina had for support to rescue Olivia and Chat Noir, and defeat Ratigan and SentiFidget. She took a deep breath before speaking.
"No, Doc. This is Tikki, my kwami."
"Ladybug, what are you doing?"
"Sorry, Tiki. But they deserve to know the truth if we're going to work together to defeat Ratigan.
"I trusted you and you know it. If you think it's right, that's fine."
"Thank you. But don't move, we'll tell everything little by little."
"Trust is gained by talking face to face."
A hand landed on Alex's shoulder causing her to jump. She turned and her heart skipped a beat as she saw him behind her.
"Basil!"
The young woman was going to turn her back on him, but the detective stopped her by firmly holding her shoulder and making her face him.
"The reason I don't trust you is because I have a feeling, you're hiding something from us. And the appearance of this... creature..."
"Tikki."
"Yes, she. It's evidence of what I say. So, like you said, if we're going to work together there can be no secrets between us. That's why you don't need to hide anymore."
"About that... It's a precaution, although to explain it, we'd better tell you everything from the beginning."
Bearer and kwami looked at each other. Alex knew it was dangerous because Basil and Dawson, being creations of the akuma, had the possibility that Ratigan or, worse still, Papillombre would use the mice to see and hear everything that was happening... even at that precise moment.
Tikki saw Alex's concern. She watched Basil trying to find any indication the detective was currently under the control of the akumatized villain or the bearer of Nooroo and Duusu. She didn't see anything, but she wouldn't leave it way. She approached the mouse, passing by his bearer, drawing the young woman's attention.
"Tikki?"
The kwami of creation did not reply. Basil released Alex and looked between fascinated and confused at Tikki; he had never seen anyone...or anything like her and he didn't know what to do or say. The kwami held out her hand to the mouse. At first the detective looked at her suspiciously so he looked at the Latina, to which Alex just nodded and that was enough for Basil to take Tikki's... hand. As soon as the kwami grabbed her hand, something inside her reacted. Tikki smiled and hugged Basil, completely disconcerting everyone, especially the detective.
"Huh...Tikki? What are you...?"
The kwami released the detective and went to the doctor. Dawson recoiled in fright at the creature's sudden attitude and almost fell backwards, but Tikki grabbed his hand in time. As soon as her hand was in contact with the doctor's, the same sensation she had with Basil the kwami of creation felt with Dawson.
"Tikki, what are you doing?"
"You can tell them everything, Alex!"
"TIKKI!"
The little kwami let go of the doctor and covered her mouth with her hands. Basil cleared his throat and those present looked at them.
"Well, first of all, we should find a more... comfortable place to talk."
Alex and Tikki sat next to each other on the floor. Seeing them, Basil and Dawson looked at each other. The girl rolled her eyes and said:
"We're in the middle of a toy disaster, there aren't many options for 'comfortable places'." The two mice looked at each other again, hunched their shoulders and sat down in front of the girl and the kwami. "Well, where should we start, Tikki?"
"I think for telling us about your... friend," Basil suggested.
"Apparently it will be from the beginning of everything," Tikki said.
"And yes, it is 'the beginning.'" added Alex
"Okay." With that, Tikki began the story. "We kwamis have existed since the origin of the universe. This is because we are formed when a new abstract concept arises, such as creation, love, beauty, mathematics, protection, illusion, etc. When this happens, their respective kwamis are born; like me, the kwami of creation, who was born at the beginning of the universe and was the first kwami to exist."
»"However, we kwamis are not regular or tangible creatures like hu... mice." Tikki made the change quickly, but Basil noticed. However, he would let it go. For now, he would listen to the rest of the explanation. "Despite being able to travel the universe, we kwamis were not detected by the mice and were unable to interact with them. But that was resolved thousands of years ago, when a magician discovered how to create magical jewels, the Miraculous, so we kwamis could communicate and assist the mice."
»"Since then, we kwamis have helped Miraculous bearers do good in the world. Although there were times, like now, when villainous bearers handled and because we are forced to obey whoever has the Miraculous in their possession, they had to be helped in their evil plans."
"So, does this Papillombre have a Miraculous?" Basil asked.
"Actually, he has two," Alex clarified. "The Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous. His name refers to the combination of these jewels."
"What? Can you use more than one at a time?"
"Yes."
"Oh my!" Dawson exclaimed. "But why would Papillombre hurt innocent people?"
"And what worries me most is why did he ally himself with Ratigan?"
"Papillombre has been attacking innocent people for a long time, transforming them into supervillains, with the sole purpose of seizing my Miraculous and Chat Noir's."
"Why?" Basil asked.
" By combining the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses, along with a special invocation, the person who has them will attain the absolute power to alter reality and make a wish." Tikki explained. "However, the universe must maintain its balance so every wish has a reaction. For example, if a mouse wished to be a human, someone would lose their humanity in return. In addition to the fact the universe would have to be destroyed and rebuilt in the way the bearer wanted."
Basil and Dawson were stunned. It is true during the explanation both were surprised and fascinated by what they heard; but the last thing Alex and Tikki said was worrying, and more so for the detective.
«I still don't understand how Papillombre convinced Ratigan to ally with him, but if that sewer rat discovers the power of Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculouses and what they can do together, not only would the kingdom be in danger but the universe. » Basil thought
The detective stood up and Alex immediately followed suit.
"Basil?"
"We must stop them at any cost. Ratigan has Chat Noir, so now he has his Miraculous. And if he manages to get hold of yours..."
"We will find them." The young woman assured. "Chat Noir, Olivia and her father.·
"Do-do you think there's a chance?" Dawson asked.
"There's always a chance, Doctor." Basil stated, taking his pipe and a match out of his pocket, lighting the match using a puppet's nose. "As long as one can think." The detective took a few puffs on his pipe, tossed the burnt match aside, and started walking, lost in thought.
Dawson, Alex and Tikki watched as Basil paced back and forth. Then the brunette remembered what followed from the movie, but saying it directly would be suspicious. So, she had an idea.
"By the way, Doc. What did you want to tell us?"
"Pardon?"
"Before all this chaos broke out, you tried to tell Basil and me something. But for arguing we don't listen to you."
Dawson immediately remembered. He reached into his pockets, pulled out a sheet of paper, and held it out to Alex. The girl rejected him.
"Read it out loud, please."
"Of course. Let's see... 'Get the following: tools, gears...'"
"What?"
Basil stopped at Dawson's words and hurried over to them, removing his pipe from his mouth.
"Girl!"
"Get the following..."
"'Unif-'"
The detective snatched the list from the doctor and quickly went through it. The emotion was reflected in his face.
"Dawson, ladies, you've done it! This list is precisely what we need."
He ran to the window, brushing past Dawson, Alex, and Tikki.
"What?"
"Quickly, back to Baker Street!" Basil said, picking up his deerstalker and jumping over a couple of toys on his way to the window.
Dawson, Alex and Tikki followed the detective, but before leaving the kwami stopped her bearer.
"What's the matter?"
"Alex, you must transform back before leaving."
Basil and Dawson stopped at their words and turned to them.
"Transform back?" the mice repeated
"Don't you remember when I arrived, I was dressed like a detective with a ladybug print?" the young woman summed up. "And how do you think Tikki appeared?"
"What you said was the kwamis help Miraculous bearers." Basil recalled, retracing his steps toward Alex and Tikki. "You never explained how those jewels work and how exactly the kwamis help you."
Bearer and kwami looked at each other. Apparently, the detective was right and they left out some details.
"Oops?" Alex said with a shy smile. "Well, now we will show you those powers. Tikki, Spots On! Ha!" The pink light that Basil and Dawson saw before covered the girl and when it faded they saw Ladybug where Alex was before.
"Amazing!" Dawson exclaimed in fascination. "Is this how all those jewels work?"
"Yes, that with reference to the transformation. But as we explained, each Miraculous has its power. Mine, as Tikki explained, it's creation. Chat Noir's destruction.
"Amazing!"
"Whatever," Basil interrupted, though he was equally impressed. "We have to go back to Baker Street right now."
"Right. To analyze that list and get more clues."
"Elementary, my dear Ladybug."
A slight pink color appeared in the young woman's ears and she had to make a great effort not to scream with emotion.
«¡Ahora sí se parece a mis fantasías de la película: Resolver casos al lado de Basil y pasarla genial!» (Now it's like my fantasies from the movie: Solving cases alongside Basil and having a great time!)
Without further ado, the three left the toy store. They mounted on Toby's back, who was wagging his tail eagerly, waiting patiently for his master, and this time the hound didn't even growl at Dawson when he too mounted.
And with that, they returned to Baker Street, determined to find and rescue the young bearer of the Black Cat Miraculous, the toymaker, and his daughter.

There were very few times when he was scared, and this situation was one of them. He knew it was ridiculous to be scared by a children's movie, but not knowing the plot and worse still being captured by the enemy, something that had never happened before, made his concern and fear grow. Was he taking him to Papillombre? Would Ladybug, Basil and Dawson find them before his Miraculous was taken from him? That last thing made another doubt arise and the fear increased: once his ring was stolen, what would they do with them?
Chat Noir's thoughts were interrupted as he was abruptly thrown to the ground. Olivia hugged the boy tightly and the feline-rodent hugged the girl trying to convey security, something himself lacked at time. However, he couldn't let his negative emotions dominate him, and not only because he risked being akumatized, but he needed to have a cool head in order to devise an escape plan and contact his lady and the two mice.
Gently he released Olivia and motioned for silence with a finger to his lips. The girl nodded in understanding and remained silent. Chat Noir took his staff and stood alert. As soon as the sack was opened, the hero extended his staff, striking Fidget square in the face, who recoiled shrieking in pain and covering his nose with his hands.
The feline-rodent came out of the sack and hit the bat with his staff, throwing him several meters away from him and Olivia. Unfortunately, he was quickly surrounded by other mice and even a lizard, and they subdued him. One of them grabbed his right wrist tightly and the hero struggled to keep his Miraculous from being stolen. However, instead he felt something grab his wrist and as he moved his hand he felt something round and metallic cover it completely.
"What the hell...?"
An evil laugh caught his attention. Two mice grabbed Chat Noir by the arms and pulled him to his knees. The hero looked up and found himself face to face with the akumatized villain in turn.
"Well, well, well. Capturing a hero wasn't on the list I gave you, Fidget.
"That's a bonus, Professor," the bat replied happily, despite still feeling pain in his nose.
"All right, my young friend. You must be wondering why they covered your hand where this cute ring is with that metal sphere instead of removing your jewelry." Ratigan said smiling at Chat Noir. "Well, that's very easy, I need you and the girl as bait for your young friend. And as soon as I have her now, yes, I will take your ring and her earrings, and I will give them to my good friend Papillombre.
"All right, my young friend." Ratigan said smiling at Chat Noir. "You'll wonder why they covered your hand where this cute ring is with that metal sphere instead of taking it off. Simple, I need you and the girl as bait for your friend. And as soon as I have her, now yes I will take your ring and her earrings, and I will give them to my good friend Papillombre."
"You really are someone too optimistic," Chat Noir said. "But you are making a big mistake by underestimating My Lady. Whatever you're up to, she won't go down easy."
"We'll see about that," the professor replied challenging. Then he spoke to Fidget. "Go get the girl and wait for me at the door of Mr. Flaversham's 'room'."
"To order, professor!" answered the bat making a military salute
He took Olivia out of the sack and carried her to a barrel with a padlocked door and a barred window; clear sign that it wasn't a room but a cell. Ratigan beamed at Fidget and Olivia, then turned to his henchmen who were still holding Chat Noir.
"Lock up our young guest. You know where."
"Yes, professor!" The thugs answered.
The thugs led Chat Noir to a huge empty green bottle of wine. The feline-rodent struggled to break free, but one of the thugs punched him hard in the stomach, knocking the air out of him and thus easily subduing the young hero. They put him in the bottle, although they had difficulty because of the metal sphere in his hand, and they closed the bottle with a cork. Once he caught his breath, Chat Noir checked his clothes and sighed with relief, he still had his staff.
"No waste time and energy, young friend," Ratigan said smirking at Chat Noir. "I reinforced this bottle to make it unbreakable. So, your gun won't work, nor will your 'hocus pocus'. The only way would be for you to use your power of destruction, but doing so would only destroy the sphere in your hand and minutes later you would be a simple boy again. So, in a simple, pathetic way for you, you're trapped." Ratigan laughed and walked away from the bottle, going to where Fidget was waiting with Olivia.
Chat Noir glared at the rat and bat. Ladybug was right when she warned him he would go crazy with the villain and he had barely exchanged a few words with him!
«Ladybug, please hurry up.»
He saw Ratigan open the door where Olivia's father was locked. Thanks to his powers he was able to hear the rat speak to the man revealing the girl. The little girl stomped on Fidget to break free and run into her father's arms in a tender reunion. Unfortunately, that moment was interrupted by Ratigan; he separated Olivia from Hiram by handing her over to the bat and he took her out of the barrel. Before leaving, the professor threatened the toymaker to harm his daughter if he did not finish his work that same night and slammed the door.
As Ratigan bullied poor Mr. Flaversham, Fidget dragged Olivia over to the bottle where Chat Noir was locked up.
"Stop! Let me go! You ugly old thing!" Olivia yelled as she struggled to free herself from the bat's grasp.
Fidget popped the cork, pushed Olivia into the mouth of the bottle only halfway down her body.
"That ought to hold you and your friend!" said the bat as he took the cork and pushed it against the girl's butt, putting her completely into the bottle and making her collide with the hero.
"Are you okay?" asked the feline-rodent
"Yes," answered the little girl. "And you?"
"I'm fine anyway."
Olivia hugged Chat Noir thus allowing him to feel her fear. The hero carefully embraced her by the metal sphere and saw Fidget's quizzical gaze above the girl's head.
"Just wait till we get out of here!"
"Oh, what a fear child!
"Help!" Olivia pleaded. "LET US OUT! LET US OUT!!!"
"See how you like that!" Fidget stuck his tongue out at the poor girl and walked away from them.
The bat went to where the professor was checking the contents of the sack happily.
"Ah, the uniforms." he said with delight, pulling out one of the uniforms stolen from the toy store. Oh Fidget! I knew I could rely on you!" He put his head in the sack laughing happily, stuck his head out and asked with a smile, "Now, you didnʼt forget anything?"
The bat laughed before answering.
"No problem. I took care of everything. Everything on the list." He showed his wing pocket and found that the list was gone. "Uh-oh..." Fidget muttered, opening his pocket wider.
Ratigan hearing this, his smile disappeared and he frowned.
-What wrong?
"The list. The list... I know..." Fidget searched his body looking for that paper
"Where's the list?" The professor asked angrily.
"The list, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well you see, uh, it was like this. I was in the toy store getting uniforms when I heard AARROOOHH! AARROOOHH!"
"You're not coming through." Ratigan said, rubbing an eyebrow.
Fidget imitated a dog panting. He got up and continued his story.
"A dog came, I ran." he said, pretending to run. "I had a baby bonnet" He tied his ears to his chin. "Girl and hero in bag and Ladybug and Basil cha... cha... chased me."
"What? Basil on the case?! Wait BASIL IS HERE!"
"What do you say!?" Papillombre asked puzzled and annoyed. Despite allowing Ratigan to do things his way, he was always aware of what he was doing in case the professor betrayed him. "I thought you said the roles of detective and assistant would be played by Ladybug and Chat Noir!"
"That's how it went! I don't know how that crime buster got here!"
"Could be..."
"What?"
"Ladybug and Chat Noir have been increasing their powers for a while now. I would dare to say they have revealed powers of their Miraculous do not appear in the grimoire...."
"Grimoire?"
"An ancient book that explains the Miraculouses and their powers. The point is! Ladybug probably brought your enemy to help them; she must know how dangerous you are and she knew even with the help of her new allies they can't defeat you."
"Well, well. Apparently, the young woman is not as lost as I thought. But still..." Ratigan broke the telepathic communication and returned his attention to Fidget angrily. "Why you gibbering little..."
Fidget flinched and hid in his wings as his boss towered over him. Ratigan gasped as he fell to his knees, clutching his chest moaning and growling as he tried to contain the rage building inside him. His face turned red, ready to explode at any second... But then he calmed down, his face returned to its normal color, he chuckled and inhaled deeply.
"Oh, my dear Fidget!" said the professor affectionately. He took the bat in his arms and carried it like a small child. "You have been hanging upside down too long." he said that last bit, giving the sentimonster a little touch on the nose.
"You mean, you're not mad?" Fidget asked with a relieved chuckle and wrapping his wing around his boss's shoulders in a hug as Ratigan walked to the back of the barrel in his main hall. "I'm glad you're taking it so well."
Chat Noir had a bad feeling. He reached for his staff as a bell tinkled followed by shouts. He activated a function on his weapon that allowed him to see and hear through solid objects and watched in horror as the sentimonster was held by a huge, obese cat with a purple bow on her head and fluttered about trying to flee. The cat smiled as she opened her mouth, ready to devour him.
"Not me, you idiot!" Fidget managed to escape Felicia's jaws despite his broken wing. "No, stop you stupid fur ball!" The cat picked it up out of the air and popped it into her mouth. Fidget struggled from inside Felicia's mouth and yelled in a muffled voice. "Open up! Open up! Aye-Yei-Yei! Oh, ow! You're hurting my wings!"
While Felicia tried to eat Fidget, Ratigan was leaning on an empty green wine bottle and massaging his temples.
"Ladybug involved was obvious. But him!?" said the professor furiously, holding his head in frustration. "How dare that idiot Basil poke his stupid nose into my wonderful scheme and foul up everything!?"
"Let me out! Let me out!" Fidget pleaded, fluttering into Felicia's mouth, managing to pry the cat's jaws open with his foot and peg leg, and flapping his wings in an attempt to escape. "HELP!" the bat implored, but Felicia shoved it back into her mouth with her finger.
Ratigan looked at his reflection in the bottle and grumbled:
"Oh, I can just see that insufferable grin on his smug face." He banged his head twice against the glass, making it rattle and clutched his head in pain. An evil idea had appeared in the professor's twisted mind. He flashed a sinister smile and laughed. "Yes... yes, I can just see it!" He turned to his cat, laughing, and commanded sweetly, "Felicia, release him."
"I'm too young to die!" the sentimonster kept pleading inside the cat's mouth
Felicia frowned in disappointment at losing her bite. Fidget's peg leg protruded from her mouth. She spat him out and Fidget landed on the ground with a grunt. The bat ended up crudely shaped; his body was twisted, his ears had holes in them, and his tongue hung out of his mouth.
Ratigan lifted him by the cheeks and with a big smile.
"Fidget, you delightful little maniac. You've presented me with a singular opportunity." He released the bat, letting him fall carelessly to the ground. "Poor Basil and Ladybug!" He sneered sadly before his face turned wicked into a mischievous grin and he said with a laugh. "Oh, they're in for a little surprise."
Chat Noir looked up from his staff, and he and Olivia looked at each other in horror. Basil and Ladybug were in danger! The hero activated the phone function of his staff, but it didn't work. He switched to text messaging and it didn't work either.
"What the hell...?"
"Chat Noir!"
The feline-rodent looked up to find Professor Ratigan looking at him and Olivia with an evil grin. The young man hugged the girl with his right arm and held the staff tightly in his left hand.
"Trying to communicate with your partner and the second-rate detective?" asked the professor despite knowing the answer. Chat Noir growled and Ratigan laughed. "Some of your tricks Papillombre told me, for example, your mass media. But don't hurry, very soon you will meet with them."
"Whatever you're up to, Ladybug and Basil will be victorious," assured the hero.
"Maybe yes, maybe no. But what I have planned requires all five of us to be together."
"What?"
Ratigan had his hands behind his back the entire time. His left hand went to the inside pocket of his vest and from it he took out a golden pocket watch; the right hand was still hidden behind his back, and in this he had his bell.
Chat Noir stared at his pocket watch, that must be the akumatized item! Ratigan's smile widened when he saw the hero's face, he had taken the bait.
"What will he do?" Olivia asked scared, not understanding what was happening.
"I'm glad you asked, little one," the professor replied. "I'll send them back to Basil and Ladybug. But... with a slight time regression."
"Time regress?" Chat Noir repeated.
Ratigan didn't reply. He raised the pocket watch; as he pressed the clock button, he activated the power of his bell. At first nothing happened, or so it seemed. Chat Noir looked down at Olivia to make sure she was okay, but the girl was still, as if she was...frozen in time. The hero looked up and the last thing he saw was black energy covering everything.
Ladybug, Basil, Dawson and Toby arrived at Baker Street. They were about to get off the hound's back when the dog began to bark in anguish.
"Toby, what's up, buddy?" asked the detective trying to calm the dog.
"Basil!" Dawson yelled, pointing scared behind his friends.
The heroine and the detective turned around and saw a strange black light covering the city and heading towards them. Ladybug recognized it. Ratigan was using the power of his akuma again! She went to Basil and Dawson, putting her arms around their shoulders trying to protect them and make sure the black energy hit her and not her friends.
"ALEX!"
Basil's cry calling the young heroine by her real name was the last thing heard before everything went dark.
