Chapter 2
I wiggled in my seat, unable to sit still. Feeling excited and anxious. "I'm going to die before we get there!" I released a dramatic sigh. It felt like they've been driving forever, when in reality the car ride to the school only takes two hours.
"Are we almost there?" I asked for nearly the hundredth time. I heard my mother groan.
"We're almost there, we have fifteen more minutes to go." My dad informed me. He turned the radio up, probably hoping that that would distract me. I looked at the window, knowing this was going to be the longest fifteen minutes of my life.
I decided to text Alya. She didn't know I was coming to the school today.
Marinette: Hey! You busy?
Alya: Not at the moment, what's up?
Marinette: I'M SO BORED!
Alya: What are you talking about? Just last night you were complaining about how much work you had to do before you came here!
Marinette: I know, just taking a break. Which reminds me, I need to get back to work.
I hated lying to her, but I know she'll forgive me when she sees me. I stopped texting her, not wanting her to get suspicious about why I wasn't working. "I can't wait to see her! It's been way too long since we last saw each other."
"We're here sweetie." The voice shook me from my thoughts. I look out my window. We're really here! I almost jump out of the car before common sense tells me it's better to wait for the car to stop.
"Before you start running, trying to find Alya, we need to sign you in." My mother informed me as we pulled into a packing space. I nodded, hoping this will go fast. We get out of the car and grab my bags.
"Hello there! Can I help you?" A lady in a golf cart drove up to us. She had bright red hair and with a red and black outfit.
"Hey I'm Tom and this is Sabine and Marinette Dupain-Cheng." My dad introduced us. He got all my bags out of the car and put them on the ground. He stuck out his hand and the lady shook his hand.
"You must be our new student! I'm Tikki, I'm a teacher here and I'm also in charge of your dorm." She smiled at me. "There is still some paper work to do and things to go over. Why don't we drop Marinette off at her dorm so she can meet the other girls and get settled." We agreed and grab my bags, and got into the golf cart. It was a little tight with four people and a bunch of bags.
"This is it. All the girls that go to this school stay here." She said as we drove up the big house, "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid this is where you'll have to say your goodbyes." She walked inside to give us some privacy.
"I'm going to miss you sweetie!" My mom cried as she gathered me in a hug.
"I'll still get to see you." I replied. I hated that I had to leave them.
"We know, but it's not going to be the same as having you with us all the time." My dad said as he joined our hug.
"I love you sweetie." They both said. I kissed them both on the cheek.
"I love you both! I'll miss you!" I gave them a final hug before gathering my stuff and walking inside. It looked like a large living room. It had a huge TV, one wall was just a big mirror for practicing dancing, and two big couches. Miss. Tikki was talking to the five girls that were lounging around.
"Marinette, you're here!" Alya shouted. She ran up to me and tackled me to the ground. Everyone was staring at us. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming today?"
"I wanted to surprise you." I stood up. Everyone was now gathering around.
"I see you two know each other." Miss Tikki laughed, "Since you already know her, Alya will you show her around and help her get settled? I have some work I need to get done before class starts." Alya nodded.
"Marinette this is Alix and this is Mylène," She pointed to the short girl with short, messy, pink hair and to another short girl with a bandanna on her head and a kind smile on her face.
"And this is Rose and Juleka." She pointed to the girl with short blonde hair and big eyes and the tall girl with dark hair and dark clothes.
"Guys, this is my best friend Marinette. She's the one I told you about." Alya said, giving me a big hug.
"It's nice to meet you." They greeted. They all seemed very nice. I was a little nervous about getting to know them. I wanted everything to go right so I can be friends with them, it would be horrible to have a enemy so soon.
"Come on, I'll show you around the house." Alya grabbed my hand and dragged me around. Downstairs had the living room, a small kitchen, though they said they never really use it, a small room to practice dancing, and a large bathroom. The bathroom had three showers and three toilets. Upstairs was all bedrooms, there was seven bedrooms. Alya showed me my room.
"We'll leave you here to get settled." They said as they walked out. Alya gave me a quick hug before she left. I looked around the room, it was a good size room. It had white walls, with a light pink bed, a desk for studying, a small closest, and a white dresser. It was very pretty.
I quickly unpacked, making sure everything went into it's right place. After I was done I sat down on my bed. I stare at the picture of me and my parents that I brought. I already miss them, but I don't regret coming to this school. I stare at the picture for a few more minutes, with only one thought in my head, "everything has changed."
